To say that few filmmakers love movies as much as Quentin Tarantino is a staggering understatement. Few people love movies as much as Quentin Tarantino, and the cinephile’s tastes continue to shape Hollywood. Today he turns 61, and so of course we had to share an updated list of Tarantino’s favorite movies that brings the total to 61.

When it comes to writing and directing, Quentin Tarantino is undoubtedly one of the very best in the entertainment business. But that’s not all that the filmmaker is capable of. Outside of films that he has been directly involved with, Tarantino has also appeared in several other projects as a guest star. Take, for example, J.J. Abrams’ spy series Alias where he starred alongside Jennifer Garner.
Quentin Tarantino in Pulp Fiction
Appearing in the 12th and 13th episodes of Alias’ first season, Quentin Tarantino played the role of a former agent of the SD6 agency, McKenas Cole. Seeking revenge in the series, Tarantino’s character gets a face-off with Jennifer Garner’s Sydney Bristow. The duo engaged in a famous fight sequence, which was later hailed by Tarantino as he had the highest praise for Garner.

When Bruce Willis announced his retirement from acting in 2022 due to his condition, his dream to play one role in a film franchise ended. Willis was a big fan of the James Bond films. After watching Javier Bardem portray an exceptional villain in Daniel Craig’s Skyfall, Willis openly stated in 2013 that he was up for playing a big baddie in the next Bond film.

After actors reach a certain level of fame in the film industry, it becomes difficult for them to take on supporting roles in projects thanks to their roaring popularity. However, Samuel L. Jackson is built different! Despite practically becoming a household name after films like Pulp Fiction and Jurassic Park, he didn’t think he was too good to play a supporting character or even show up for an uncredited role.

Looking back at Quentin Tarantino’s 1994 crime thriller Pulp Fiction we can all agree that the casting of John Travolta, Uma Thurman, and Bruce Willis was top-notch, alongside the impeccable storyline. But what if we say, Willis was never on Tarantino’s long list of potential actors for the role of Butch Coolidge.
Nicolas Cage in The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent (2022)
According to reports, Quentin Tarantino suggested Sean Penn, Nicolas Cage, and Johnny Depp, for the iconic role. Suggesting a lengthy list of names ahead of casting, Tarantino wanted to star the above-mentioned A-listers in his crime thriller over Bruce Willis. But things worked in favor of the Die Hard star, as he eventually appeared alongside Uma Thurman’s Mia.

Born in 1963, Quentin Tarantino redefined independent cinema with his pulpy mix of violence, dark humor and pop culture, crafting several modern classics. But before he made history, he made a living as a video store clerk while penning spec scripts. He made his directorial debut with “Reservoir Dogs” (1992), a “Rashomon”-esque crime drama about a botched jewel heist. Two more of his scripts, “True Romance” (1993) and “Natural Born Killers” (1994), were later produced by Tony Scott and Oliver Stone, respectively.
He hit the Oscar jackpot just two years after his filmmaking debut with “Pulp Fiction” (1994), a multi-narrative, self-referential pastiche about a group of criminals whose lives intersect in surprising ways. After winning the Palme d’Or at Cannes, the indie hit went on to collect a screenwriting prize for Tarantino and Roger Avery, earning nominations in Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor (John Travolta), Best Supporting Actor (Samuel L. Clint Eastwood and Quentin Tarantino's mutual respect stems from shared influences like Sergio Leone. Eastwood endorsed Pulp Fiction, calling the response to the film "amazing." Tarantino intended Kill Bill to echo Eastwood's Dollars Trilogy.
Despite the fact that Clint Eastwood is more than 30 years older than Quentin Tarantino, the two seem like contemporaries. This connection began in 1992, when the release of Eastwood’s Oscar-winning Western film Unforgiven heralded a career renaissance for the filmmaker, while Tarantino made his feature directorial debut with the crime film Reservoir Dogs, which revealed the director to be a distinctive and exciting new voice in cinema.
More than 30 years later, the filmmakers are both poised to ride off into the proverbial sunset with their respective career-ending feature directorial outings. Eastwood has announced that his final film as director will be the upcoming courtroom thriller Juror No. 2, while Tarantino has said that his final film...

Ever since John Travolta opened up the briefcase during the iconic apartment scene in Pulp Fiction, fans have been longing for the answer to, "What's inside?" This mystery will likely never be solved — that is, if a definitive answer exists at all. The gold light that radiates upon opening the case was an inspired touch by writer-director Quentin Tarantino, a savvy artist who knows that the best storytelling moments are best left unsaid. During the writing process of the modern classic, an early draft brought distinct clarity to what the suitcase carried inside, which likely confirms that Tarantino's breakout feature film was directly tied to his debut film, Reservoir Dogs.

Tarantino's 10th film, The Movie Critic, could cast John Travolta, and properly revive his career after Pulp Fiction. Travolta's popularity declined post-Pulp Fiction due to critical failures and unmet career expectations. The Movie Critic could provide Travolta with a second career revival and a chance to work with Tarantino again.
Quentin Tarantino is preparing for his 10th and final movie titled The Movie Critic, and it can be the perfect chance to reunite with one actor, making up for a disappointing trend for this actor after Pulp Fiction. Tarantino quickly became one of the most respected and controversial filmmakers of his generation thanks to his mastery in writing dialogue, his visual and narrative style, and the large amounts of violence and blood in most of his movies. Tarantino is also known for stating he would retire after his 10th film, creating expectations about what his final movie could be about.

Tarantino's tenth and final film is a source of controversy due to conflicting counts of his filmography. The director's self-imposed limit of 10 movies aims to ensure a strong legacy and prevent a decline in quality. Although Tarantino's last film may not be set in stone, "The Movie Critic" promises to be an intriguing addition to his repertoire.

Comb through the Oscar nominations this year and you’ll find that there records being broken left, right, and center while more records could be matched or broken at the ceremony this coming Sunday on March 10.

Ah, the 1990s. Perhaps the peak of the moviegoing experience. Theaters consistently showed classics such as the special effects marvel "Jurassic Park," "The Shawshank Redemption," "Terminator 2: Judgment Day," "Pulp Fiction," "Fargo," and "Titanic." The decade also featured an abundance of outstanding horror films like "The Sixth Sense," "Scream," "Misery," and "Interview with the Vampire," all boasting big-name stars and top-tier directors.
However, playing at the opposite end of the cineplex were thrillers you may have never heard about or skipped simply due to bad reviews or scathing word of mouth. Some of Hollywood's top talent attached themselves to such projects, thwarted by ornery critics or moviegoers seeking higher-end entertainment. That's a shame.
While there are undoubtedly plenty of terrible horror films from the 90s, the decade was also ripe with lower-tier entries that have aged surprisingly well. Many don't reset the bar established by esteemed pictures like "The Silence of the Lambs,...

Mild spoilers for "Dune: Part Two" follow.
"Dune: Part Two" is loaded with hot young stars — Timothée Chalamet! Zendaya! Austin Butler! Florence Pugh! And nestled among all these new Hollywood faces is someone from the old school: Christopher Walken. When Walken joined the "Dune: Part Two" cast as Shaddam IV, the Padishah Emperor of the Known Universe, I was thrilled. Not because I'm overly familiar with "Dune" lore (I've never read any of the books), but because the prospect of seeing Christopher Walken in a big sci-fi epic as the "Emperor of the Known Universe" sounded pretty damn cool.
Sure enough, Walken shows up in "Dune: Part Two" and walks away with every brief scene he has. It's not a big role. It's not a showy role. But Walken, sporting puffy white hair and a hang-dog expression, has such gravitas, such heft as a performer, that he makes a meal of every tiny morsel.

Quentin Tarantino, known for movies like Pulp Fiction and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, is famous for pushing boundaries with his filmmaking, with an instantly recognizable style of cinema filled with violence and profanity. His movies feature graphic violence and often have high body counts. However, there is often a focus on the mundane nature of the characters' conversation, and care is taken in the dialogue between them. All of this was present right from his first feature, Reservoir Dogs. Much of the runtime focuses on the interactions between the so-called Dogs — a cast which includes Steve Buschemi, Tim Roth and Harvey Keitel — both before and after a botched robbery, and the unraveling of the characters trying to grapple with the consequences. Each character has a distinct persona, and it is Mr. Blonde's (Michael Madsen) instability that makes a Reservoir Dogs scene so disturbing that it made horror legend Wes Craven walk out.

While Renny Harlin was promoting his film, The Bricklayer, JoBlo asked him about the making of Die Hard 2: Die Harder, and he had high praise for star Bruce Willis, who he compared, favourably, to the new generation of action stars, who seem reluctant to ever allow themselves to get beaten up on-screen, Willis never had this issue, said Harlin: “I really wanted Bruce Willis to get really screwed up. His face is a bloody mess by the end of the movie, and like you said, it really does make the character more heroic. They are really taking punishment and keep going.”

Outside of that, his name still most likely rings a bell with the general public thanks to his position as one the few filmmakers who has worked his way into pop culture. His storied career began in 1992 with his debut movie, Reservoir Dogs. Two years later, he won his first Oscar for his magnum opus, Pulp Fiction. Despite being one of the most renowned filmmakers of all time, Tarantino’s filmography isn’t as extensive as his peer’s. He has also long been on record for stating that he will retire...

This post contains spoilers for "Reservoir Dogs" and "City on Fire" (1987)
Acclaimed actor/writer/director Quentin Tarantino is known for paying homage to classic films in his work, a signature move that he made even in his debut feature, the 1992 heist movie "Reservoir Dogs." The director's films frequently nod to foreign and obscure cinema, offering plenty of Easter eggs for the attentive viewer. A close watch of any of his films might feel like an unbroken string of cinematic references, but sometimes the influence of a single film is so strong that it permeates through the entire movie. Such is the case for "Reservoir Dogs," and the Hong Kong action movie "City on Fire."
The 1987 crime film by director Ringo Lam tells the story of Ko Chow, an undercover cop who is forced to take on another risky job when a fellow policeman is killed by a gang of thieves.

Quentin Tarantino may be renowned to be somewhat of a strict director, but his movie sets are more creative and sociable than perhaps every other set in the world. As people already know, the films helmed by Tarantino are extraordinary to a whole new level, and his masterpieces like Pulp Fiction and Inglourious Basterds are living proof of how incredible of a director he is.

As it turns out, to make his movie sets more harmonious, the filmmaker reportedly follows a “no electronics” rule along with multiple other practices that set his film sets apart from all the other sets.

Samuel L. Jackson is the highest-grossing actor of all time. The iconic actor, who made his feature film debut in 1972 independent drama Together for Days, has seen his name so far attached to 142 films, which have amassed more than $27 billion in worldwide ticket sales.
The big reason behind the eye-watering figure is Jackson’s frequent appearances in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, wherein he portrays Nick Fury. However, when fans think about the veteran actor, the first character that pops into their mind, more often than not, is Jules. A hitman, who tends to deliver sermons before killing his targets.
Samuel L. Jackson in Pulp Fiction
It won’t be far-fetched to say, Pulp Fiction is his career-defining stint. Yet, as far as Jackson’s opinion is concerned the 1994 cult classic sits below another crime thriller.

Samuel L. Jackson is one of the most highly accomplished actors in all of Hollywood right now, whose roles in films such as Pulp Fiction and Snakes on A Plane helped make him a global phenomenon. Of course, he is more known now for his role as Nick Fury in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. With that said, he is now being considered a typecast actor by a fan who made an incredibly obvious joke.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has undergone numerous changes and developments over the years, getting mixed responses from fans and critics alike. After all, fans still fondly remember the heyday of Marvel, especially when The Avengers came out in 2012. Not even Samuel L. Jackson has been able to save the franchise for now.

The Oscars' new award for best casting is a significant recognition of the creativity and importance of the casting process in filmmaking. Films with both large ensembles and movies centered around outstanding individual performances deserve recognition in the best casting category. Iconic films like The Godfather, Pulp Fiction, and One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest displayed exceptional casting choices that contributed to their success and acclaim.
The Academy Awards recently announced a new award for best casting, and there are several films that retroactively deserve the accommodation. In a constantly evolving film industry, it's vital for the Oscars to make changes to awards categories. Casting is an essential step of the filmmaking process, and it's fantastic for the Academy to recognize the creativity behind it. The new category will be introduced at the 2026 Academy Awards, so it won't take effect at the upcoming 96th Academy Awards ceremony, which is scheduled...

Details are tight on Quentin Tarantino’s 10th and final film, but we may have more information on the building cast, as reports say that Tom Cruise is “circling” a role in The Movie Critic.
Considering Tom Cruise is just about the busiest guy in Hollywood and that the inspiration for The Movie Critic – a guy who wrote reviews for a porno magazine – was in his mid-’30s, we could reasonably deduce that Cruise wouldn’t be on the marquee here. But the role may be even more limited than we would expect someone of Cruise’s caliber to settle for. According to The InSneider (per ComingSoon.net), Cruise would be looking at a “small role or cameo.” That’s a bit of a disappointment, but it does show the actor’s eagerness to finally work with Tarantino.

Action movies with impactful storytelling and artfully planned fight sequences have the most impact. Seven Samurai, Goldfinger, and Enter the Dragon are influential action movies that revolutionized the genre. Films like Star Wars, Die Hard, Pulp Fiction, and Iron Man changed the landscape of action movies with their unique contributions.
Amid the slew of bland action movies overwhelmed with CGI, there is a rare movie that completely revolutionizes the genre. The best action movies of all time changed the genre with groundbreaking special effects, elaborate fight scenes, and meaningful storylines. Special effects have become more vital to the action genre with the rise of fantasy and sci-fi movies, but some of the most influential action directors rely upon practical effects.
However, while effects are important, the action movies with the most impact are the ones that invest time in just that – the action. Dedication to masterfully planned fight sequences went a long way for movies,...

Here are two words for those who believe Christopher Nolan can’t possibly lose the Best Director race at this year’s Academy Awards for “Oppenheimer”: Bob Fosse. And here are three more: Francis Ford Coppola.
When you think about how many consider Coppola’s 1972 masterpiece “The Godfather” to be perhaps the greatest American film ever made, it might shock them to learn that while the film won Oscars in ’73 for Best Picture, Adapted Screenplay and Best Actor for Marlon Brando, Coppola lost the director race to Fosse for “Cabaret.” Nothing against Fosse or his iconic musical, but his win over Coppola was shocking even if deserved. The lesson is that you simply never know what might happen on Oscar night. “Oppenheimer” could clean up, as is being widely predicted, and Nolan could still somehow miss out even though all indicators tell us it’s a done deal.

Quentin Tarantino has praised up-and-coming directors like Bong Joon-ho, Timur Bekmambetov, and David Michôd, highlighting their talent and their notable films from their respective regions. Animal Kingdom, directed by David Michôd, is a critically acclaimed crime drama that tackles tough topics with a no-holds-barred approach. It received high praise from critics, fans, and filmmakers, including Tarantino. The Rover, also directed by Michôd, is an underrated Western that features brilliant acting and an unforgettable ending. Tarantino hailed it as a visionary achievement and one of the best post-apocalyptic movies since the original Mad Max.

Anyone in the biz knows that the true representation of a movie critic has never been seen in mass media. Sitting in the dark before racing to make an embargo-break deadline, then kvetching online about weak third acts? Brad Pitt material, all of it.
Luckily, Quentin Tarantino’s next project may fix all that. Deadline reported that a deal is imminent for the director and star to reunite for Tarantino’s next and (allegedly) final picture, “The Movie Critic.” Pitt won Best Supporting Actor at the 2020 Oscars for his turn in Tarantino’s “Once Upon a Time … in Hollywood,” which also won Best Production Design for Barbara Ling and Nancy Haigh, plus eight other nominations, including Best Picture. The two also worked together on “Inglorious Basterds.”

Los Angeles, Feb 2 (Ians) Hollywood star Brad Pitt is likely reuniting with Quentin Tarantino for the filmmaker’s 10th and ostensibly final feature, ‘The Movie Critic’.
The status of the deal is unclear. Tarantino has remained tight-lipped about ‘The Movie Critic’ but it’s reportedly set in southern California during the 1970s and centres on a cynical film reviewer, reports Variety.
It’s rumoured to be inspired by the life of Pauline Kael, the late New Yorker writer who was one of the most influential film critics of her time.
Tarantino sidestepped inquiries about ‘The Movie Critic’ during a conversation at the Cannes Film Festival in 2023, saying to audience: “I can’t tell you guys (anything) until you see the movie. I’m tempted to do some of the character’s monologues right now, but I’m not going to. Maybe if there were less video cameras. You just have to wait and see.

Miramax may have found its new leader. Jonathan Glickman, the former MGM executive, is in talks to join Miramax as its CEO, sources tell The Hollywood Reporter.
He would step in for former CEO Bill Block, who departed last year after a six-year run.

He departed the studio at the top of 2020 for a first-look producing deal with MGM, and two years later launched Panoramic Media.

How do you choose between Tom Cruise and Quentin Tarantino? It’s a dilemma Austin Butler faced before his Oscar-nominated performance in “Elvis” turned him into a global star. During an interview on the “Happy Sad Confused” podcast (via People) while promoting his new Apple TV+ series “Masters of the Air,” Butler confirmed reports he was in the running to star opposite Cruise in the blockbuster “Top Gun: Maverick.”
“I ended up having to choose between going to the screen test for ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ or saying yes to Quentin Tarantino,” Butler said.
Tarantino had offered the rising star a role in “Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood.” Because Butler had wanted to work with the “Pulp Fiction” director “for so long,” he wasn’t going to let a potential Tom Cruise blockbuster get in the way.

The actor has shared how he rang in the milestone event.
“I had a nice sushi dinner and went to sleep”, Samuel says of how he “quietly” spent his birthday, reports People magazine.
In the upcoming action thriller film ‘Argylle’, Samuel stars as an ally to Elly Conway (played by Bryce Dallas Howard), a “reclusive author of a series of best-selling espionage novels, whose idea of bliss is a night at home with her computer and her cat, Alfie”, according to a synopsis shared by Universal Pictures.
