William Shatner first conceived the idea of TekWar while directing Star Trek V: The Final Frontier (1989).
A PC game based on the TV movie was later released in 1995. In the PC game, the player (Jake Cardian) is revived from suspended animation by Bascom (William Shatner) to eliminate the TekLords. William Shatner appeared in the PC Game as Bascom.

The same year, William Shatner returned one last time in his most iconic role Captain James T. Kirk in Star Trek Generations (1994), a role he played since 1966. Chris Pine took over the role 15 years later in the reboot Star Trek (2009).
