Dracula is one of the most prolific, some would say overused, characters in fiction – from literature, to theatre, to cinema and television, Dracula has been one of The most re-interpreted horror monsters. Be it the well-loved Hammer movies, the silent black and white vampire of Nosferatu or more modern takes such as Francis Ford Coppola’s gothic take on the character, Dracula is often seen as one of the go-to horror icons. The character has even inspired a whole genre of vampire movies that, whilst not utilising the official moniker, are clearly influenced by Bram Stoker’s novella – and Dracula: The Dark Prince is no different.

It introduces them to Horror in a way that can prepare them for the increased intensity and gore of adult films, while its limited budget and family viewing constraints also mean it has to get under your skin in more creative ways. This list is not intended as anything remotely definitive, more a collection of fifty scary moments, scenes, and ideas that the show has given us over the years. There are obviously hundreds more out there, and a Comments Thread waiting for your suggestions. We begin at the beginning, but not necessarily in that order.

David Dobkin has tapped longtime production exec Jeff Kleeman to run his Warner Bros.-based Big Kid Pictures shingle.
Dobkin chose Kleeman for the post because of the executive's experience in launching tentpoles, as well as his experience writing and creating comedy. Kleeman will help develop features of the tentpole, comedy and animated variety, as well as television projects.
Kleeman comes to Big Kid from MGM/Ua, where he held was exec vp motion picture production since September. That was actually Kleeman's second stint at MGM/Ua. He first joined the company in 1993 and was responsible for overseeing a new phase of the James Bond franchise with "GoldenEye," "Tomorrow Never Dies" and "The World Is Not Enough." He also oversaw the development and production of "Rob Roy," "Hackers" and "The Thomas Crown Affair."
Kleeman began his career in 1987 as a production exec at Paramount, working on such movies as "Internal Affairs,...
