Kenan Thompson isn’t staying quiet about what he experienced on the Nickelodeon sets.
The longtime “SNL” star, who was a child actor on sketch series “All That” and “Kenan & Kel,” addressed the explosive docuseries “Quiet on Set” that detailed abuse claims from top executives at the network. During an appearance on “The Tamron Hall Show” in the below video, Thompson called coming to terms with the allegations “a tough subject,” especially as he was on the cusp of the era of the Nickelodeon stars in question.
“It’s tough for me because I can’t really speak on things that I never witnessed, you know what I’m saying? Because all these things happened after I left, basically,” Thompson said. “My heart goes out to anybody that’s been victimized, or their families. Kenan Thompson is opening up about his falling out with Kel Mitchell.
The 45-year-old Saturday Night Live star and the 45-year-old pastor have had lots of success as a duo, working together on the TV series All That and Kenan & Kel, and their movies, Good Burger and Good Burger 2.
Off-screen, the longtime friends and costars haven’t always gotten along.

During an interview on The Today Show, Kenan shared that they had a “falling out” before collaborating on Good Burger 2.
“It was more of a separation that kind of grew into the traditional terms of what a falling out is, which is, like, not a lot of communication,” he reflected. “Originally, it was just us kind of looking for our own individualism, basically, as adults, taking a breather from being a duo because we both came into the game as individuals.

Rapper Coolio, who helped define the sound of the 1990s, died in Los Angeles on Sept. 28, 2022, at the age of 59, his manager, Jarez Posey, confirmed to Rolling Stone at the time. (Popsugar previously reached out to Coolio's rep for confirmation but did not hear back.)
On April 6, nearly seven months after his death, the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner confirmed that Coolio died of an accidental overdose of fentanyl, heroin, and methamphetamine. The coroner's report, which is available online, also noted cardiomyopathy unspecified, asthma, and recent phencyclidine (Pcp) use as other significant contributors to his death.
Coolio was born Artis Leon Ivey Jr. in Monessen, Pa, in 1963. He later moved to the Compton neighborhood of Los Angeles, home to many other notable rappers including members of the group N.W.A, Kendrick Lamar, and Roddy Ricch. Coolio released his debut album, "It Takes a Thief," in 1994, and the following year, he released the seminal "Gangsta's Paradise.

Coolio’s 28 September 2022 death was caused by an accidental overdose of fentanyl, heroin and methamphetamine, a coroner has ruled.
No cause of death was given at the time when the “Gangsta’s Paradise” rapper was found dead at a friend’s house in Los Angeles, California.
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner report, which was seen by People, also reportedly listed cardiomyopathy unspecified, asthma and recent phencyclidine use as other significant conditions that contributed to his death.
Cardiomyopathy is a disease of the heart that makes it harder for the heart muscle to pump blood to the rest of the body.
TMZ first reported the news of the coroner’s ruling, adding that – according to family spokesperson Jarel (Jarez) Posey – Coolio’s next of kin plan to honour him through documentaries and film.

The estate of rapper Coolio announced plans to release a posthumous album later this year with singles the Grammy award-winning artist was working on before his death, according to the Associated Press.
The album titled “Long Live Coolio” is the first posthumous album release from the “Gangsta’s Paradise” hip-hop star. The first single, “Tag ‘You It,’” was released on Friday and featured California rappers Too $hort and DJ Wino.
The music video showed Coolio and Too $hort in a boxing ring as women twerked. It marks the last piece of visual content Coolio appeared in before his death from cardiac arrest on Sept. 28, 2022, at age 59.
In 1995, Coolio won a Grammy for best solo rap performance for “Gangsta’s Paradise,” which came from the “Dangerous Minds” soundtrack of the Michelle Pfeiffer film. He also performed the theme music, “Aw, Here It Goes!” for the ’90’s Nickelodeon sitcom “Kenan & Kel.

Welcome to Paramount+, home of the “Good Burger 2” movie. May Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell take your order?
Paramount+ has ordered up a sequel to the ’90s-kid classic film “Good Burger.” Both Thompson and Mitchell are coming back to reprise their respective roles as Dexter Reed and Ed, reuniting the Nickelodeon comedy duo more than 25 years after the first movie’s release.
“I can’t believe it’s been a little over 25 years since great customer service was born at Good Burger! Being a part of something so many generations of people have come to love has made me so proud and now to be back where it all began working on the sequel is surreal,” Thompson said in a statement shared with IndieWire. “Love performing with my brother Kel and can’t wait to show the fans what these characters have been up to since we last saw them.

CBS has given a pilot order to a multi-cam comedy series based on the “JumpStart” comic strip, Variety has learned.
The project hails from writer and executive producer Wayne Conley. Aaron Kaplan and Melanie Frankel of Kapital Entertainment also executive produce along with Bridget McMeel of Andrews McMeel Entertainment and Wendi Trilling of TrillTV. Robb Armstrong, the creator of “JumpStart,” will co-executive produce. CBS Studios will produce.
“JumpStart” is set in Philadelphia. Per the official logline, the show “follows Joe, a cop, his wife Marcy, a nurse, and Joe’s partner, Crunchy. Joe and Marcy are young, hip, urban parents with old school values who are willing to sacrifice for their kids and have some laughs while doing it.” The comic strip originally entered syndication in 1989.
A TV version of the comic has been in the works since at least 2014, when Kapital announced plans to develop a live-action version with 20th Century Fox.

Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell kept the Nickelodeon nostalgia coming at the People's Choice Awards on Dec. 6. For the first time in 25 years, the comedy duo reunited on the red carpet just hours before Thompson was set to host the award show. The last time the former "All That" stars were on the red carpet together was at the "Good Burger" premiere in 1997 when they were both in their late teens.
As the pair posed together on the red carpet, they looked like they hadn't missed a beat, falling right back into their classic "Kenan & Kel" vibes. Between moments of hyping each other up and snapping selfies with fans, the stars also took a moment to show off their coordinated outfits. Thompson arrived in a midnight-blue velvet suit, while Mitchell complemented the "Saturday Night Live" star's ensemble in his own satin suit and navy button-up.

We're nearing the end of 2022, and with just a couple more episodes to go before 2023, we're through roughly one-third of the 48th season of "Saturday Night Live." While many are undoubtedly anticipated the co-hosting duo of Steve Martin and Martin Short next weekend, "Nope" star Keke Palmer just set a new bar by hosting the best episode of the season so far. Much like cast member Kenan Thompson, the comedic chops of Keke Palmer were honed on Nickelodeon in her younger years, following her breakthrough performance in "Akeelah and the Bee." So it should come as no surprise that Palmer felt perfectly at home in host hosting debut on "SNL," and I feel like we could be looking at a potential new inductee into the Five-Timers Club as her career continues to blossom.
Alright, let's dig into Keke Palmer's episode of "Saturday Night Live."

Keke Palmer is showing some love to her boyfriend, Darius Jackson. On Sunday, the 29-year-old took to Instagram to reflect on her time at “Saturday Night Live” — where she hosted — and revealed that she is expecting her first child.
Palmer began her message by thanking the cast, crew and writers at “Saturday Night Live”, before giving a special shoutout to Lorne Michaels and Kenan Thompson.
“Thank you @nbcsnl and also the Writers! The incredible writers that give and give and give everyday, no matter what you see or what you don’t see these people put their hearts into it. Art is your heart so it isn’t always easy, but they still get out there and that’s just amazing,” the “Nope” actress wrote.

Does the world need a dark and gritty "Kenan & Kel" reboot? Absolutely not. But the world did need a Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell reunion on "Saturday Night Live," and that's exactly what it got on the Dec. 3 episode hosted by Keke Palmer. In a brilliantly nostalgic sketch dubbed "Kenan & Kelly," Palmer pitches Thompson on a reboot of his beloved Nickelodeon series, and once he agrees, things get weird fast.
It's quickly revealed that Palmer is "gunning for an Emmy," so she decides to add some drama to the show's typical hijinks. This includes a shock reveal that Kenan is the father of Kelly's baby (followed by a second twist that Kel is the real father), a dramatic monologue about Kelly's father calling her an idiot, and Kel getting murdered in a robbery attempt. As Thompson deadpans at the end of the sketch, "The show is not good, but Jordan Peele called us.

Reunited and ... we should be concerned. Yes, a fateful reunion of the '90s variety occurred on "Saturday Night Live" last night and, while well-executed, it'll also have you nodding along with Kenan Thompson's behind-the-scenes commentary throughout. The reunion in question? Well, the reunion between Thompson and Kel Mitchell, of course!
Styled as a meta parody, the sketch begins with Kenan Thompson looking back. "It all happened so fast," he says before we're taken back to a moment between Thompson and "SNL" host Keke Palmer during rehearsals. After a heartfelt exchange between them, where Palmer fangirls over working with Thompson, she pitches to him the idea of a reboot of "Kenan & Kel." Because you see, the '90s IP is ripe for reimagining.
It's a natural fit. Until it isn't.
Palmer has a vision, and once they start shooting the reboot, Thompson quickly has second thoughts. But he...

Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell have reunited with a little help from Keke Palmer!
Palmer made her “Saturday Night Live” debut over the weekend — where she also revealed her exciting pregnancy news — and for one of the night’s pre-recorded sketches, fans got a chance to see exactly what it would look like if she and Thompson rebooted the beloved sitcom “Kenan & Kel”.
In this version, however, it would be Thompson and Palmer as the two leads in the all-new “Kenan & Kelly”.
The sketch was presented as a behind-the-scenes documentary, which gives a glimpse at how Palmer convinced Thompson to do the show without giving him a lot of information — something he came to regret.
“I should have asked more questions,” Thompson shared with the documentary cameras. “I thought it was going to be a Jordan Peele-produced streaming series. I wouldn’t have said yes to ‘Kenan & Kel...

This week’s “Saturday Night Live” used the shared Nickelodeon experience of host Keke Palmer and cast member Kenan Thompson to create an homage to one of the network’s most iconic shows: “Kenan & Kel.”
In a pre-taped sketch set up like a documentary, we see Palmer approach Thompson and pitch him on the idea of doing a project together. Little does he know, the project Palmer has in mind is a reboot of “Kenan & Kel” – the sitcom that ran from 1996 to 2000 – with Palmer starring opposite Thompson instead of Kel Mitchell.
“I thought it was gonna be a Jordan Peele-produced streaming series,” Thompson says in the sketch. “I wouldn’t have said yes to ‘Kenan & Kel’ but now it’s just Kelly.”
Cut to Palmer telling the camera this was all part of a grand plan: “I had already sold the show before I even met Kenan.

Kenan & Kel left the Nickelodeon lineup back in 2000, but the sitcom got a reboot of sorts in a sketch on the Saturday, December 3 episode of Saturday Night Live. Better yet, the sketch had Kenan & Kel star Kel Mitchell reuniting with former costar Kenan Thompson, who’s been an SNL star since 2003. As the sketch starts, Keke Palmer, Saturday’s SNL host, finds Thompson in the SNL break room and tells him she has an idea for a project. “Absolutely,” Thompson responds. “Anything with Keke Palmer’s name on it, I’m there, no questions asked.” That project, however, turns out to be a Kenan & Kel reboot called Kenan & Kelly. And Palmer has unusual ideas for the new show, as Thompson comes to find out. “Kel’s favorite catchphrase was ‘Aw, here it goes,’” he tells viewers in a mock behind-the-scenes interview. “Keke decided to say, ‘Uh-oh, here comes the bus.

Nickelodeon stars Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell reunited on “Saturday Night Live” for a fond reboot of their popular ’90s show.
In a mock documentary, host Keke Palmer’s pregnancy once again came into play as her character claimed she pitched a more dramatic reboot of “Kenan and Kel”—dubbed “Kenan and Kelly,” set at Rigby’s. Palmer’s female version of Kel revealed she was pregnant with Thompson’s child.
“Keke was gunning for an Emmy award,” Thompson said.
Devon Walker enters the scene as Kel’s “Good Burger” character, Ed, only to be shot down for the role before Mitchell enters the scene making a beeline for the orange soda case, as his character often did on the show. Just at that moment, he is shot by James Austin Thompson in a robbery and convulses on the floor.
