Director Dan Zethraeus added the cartoonish eyes and eyebrows to the Count so that the show wouldn't be too frightening for small children.
The "ghost" effect was filmed by having the actors wear blue-colored, transparent cloaks, and then digitally entering the backgrounds of the scenes onto the blue cloaks. This gave it a spooky, half-invisible look.
Due to popular demand SVT (who both produced and aired the series) decided to air it again in 1998, though this time in the summertime.
