Simply stunning and impressive
missmarmite18 July 2004
I came accidentally across this series, which was not being shown on German TV as of July 04. I found it in my local video shop, sitting nicely on the shelf, not telling what great and convincing story telling hid behind the almost boring video cover.

The stories and above all the characters are so perfectly developed that I couldn't wait to rent the next video. Now the series is over, but still I love to watch it from time to time. The life at the end of the nineties is portrayed so honestly that it is such a joy to watch the characters go through thick and thin together.

In my opinion the best performance delivers Hermione Norris. She is allowed to show happiness, sadness, good luck and bad luck. And she is not only allowed to do so, she does. She definitely impresses most.

The end AND the beginning
stephen-mccamley16 March 2003
I have just finished watching the final episode of Cold Feet. Suffice to say, and contrary to a certain teletext critic, it was perfect. The whole show has been a must from the pilot episode. When the series began, it was being hailed as the British "Friends" yet it became so much more in-depth and emotional. Never too many episodes were made therefore no feeling of being thinly spread out or watered down has ever been felt.

As the final episode finished, over on satellite, ITV2 started showing Cold Feet from Series 1 and it had a somewhat melancholy attribute to it since it's demise. I am looking forward to reliving all the moments again.

Let's hope that Jimmy Nesbitt becomes an even bigger star now the series is over - many of the other stars have had success elsewhere and I hope he has not already been typecast in the role.

One of the most amazing series in the history of television...

Somewhere, in between another unforgettable series such as The Simpsons and Monty Python, Cold Feet has a very special place in my heart. We're talking about one of the greatest TV series in the history of television - it just has everything. It's basically the story of three couples, each of them in a different stage in their relationship( beginning of the relationship, married and pregnant and married with a child), with a certain "emphasis" on Adam and Rachel, "the fresh couple". The series was blessed with an amazing cast, including one of the most beloved actors I know, the charming and absolutely fantastic James Nesbitt. The wonderful cast always gets the opportunity to show his talent - Mike Bullen's fascinating writing guarantees that every episode will cover so much emotions, experiences, and unforgettable moments, that near the end you will feel this tremendous feeling, as if you have experienced the entire world in fifty minutes. So beautifully written, so beautifully played out, this is truly the best drama on TV.

Great British Import

This British sitcom/soap opera is a real find on BRAVO. There is nothing like it on US television and each episode leaves me wanting more. Helen Baxendale does a great job blurring the line between being an unusual beauty and a struggling 30-something in modern day Manchester.

Jo (Kimberly Joseph) is stunningly gorgeous and very plausible as the Aussie import trying to blend in with the rest of the cast. The very comical Jamdes Nesbitt adds to the overall enjoyment.

"Cold Feet" is both amusing and serious and I look forward to more episodes from this talented cast.

The life of British couples
jasperius2 March 2005
This is the best comedy/drama TV-series I've ever seen. This is the only show I ever stayed at home for. The best characters are Adam (James Nesbitt) and Rachel (Helen Baxindale, who also played several times in Friends as Ross' girlfriend).

They really bring out the sadness of being thirty in England. For example, Pete wants to surprise his wife because they are bored (they are only watching the "tellie" every evening) so he orders cable television so they have 50 channels, you can imagine what happens. His wife is not happy at all, "now we have 50 channels with garbage on it". Really funny.

The British accents are brilliant but even better is the Irish accent of Adam.

But, like many things You have to see for yourself! I bought all the DVD's and recommend this to everybody: ENJOY!!

Absolutely superb!

Absolutely superb! One of the real gems to come out of British television in the last 10 years.

Accomplished actors Helen Baxendale and James Nesbitt give good performances as smarmy couple Rachel Bradley and Adam Williams and their eventful life together in modern Manchester, and old-fashioned, middle-class snob David Marsden is excellently played by Robert Bathurst, as he struggles to balance family life with being a respectable businessman. The virtually unknown Hermione Norris is equally as suited to her role as not-so-snobbish, bored housewife and mother Karen, David's wife, and executes some inch-perfect one-liners with accurate timing, exposing her potential as a great comic actress of the future.

But undoubtedly the stars of the show must be John Thomson, who plays Pete Gifford and, in particular, the outstanding Fay Ripley, as his long-suffering wife Jenny. With this couple we encounter childbirth, divorce, affairs and even Jenny moving away to America.

No wonder 9 million people think like me, this mix of normal life in Northern England is superbly scripted and directed and has all the elements to make it the great success that it has and will continue to become - a case of warm smiles rather than cold feet.
