Deadly Web is a techno-thriller that highlights the weaknesses in internet security and the potential for cyber-stalking. The acting is actually not that bad compared to most other TV movies in the same category. Gigi Rice is great in this, but her greatest performance was in A Night at the Roxbury. The scariest thing about this movie was that it was much better than all the other cyber-stalking movies, especially The Net.

Much better than I had expected.

Stay away from the 'Deadly Web'

I had great expectations for this movie...a riveting based-on-a-true-story, with excellent acting and a fair amount of drama.

But 'Deadly Web' really seems more like a bad TV sitcom, only longer. The acting is painful to watch, from Gigi Rice as the sickeningly sweet Terri, to her extremely annoying smart-mouthed son (who's trying too hard to be cute and fails to get any sympathy from the viewers), to the typical all around bad guy Dr. Stanton (played by John Wesley Shipp). On top of that we have to contend with a script that is so lame it can make you laugh so hard you cry and some pseudo thriller-cum-action scenes (especially towards the end) that miss the mark by a mile.

Don't get caught in the 'Deadly Web', unless your Internet server is down, your boy/girlfriend has left town, and there's nothing in the refrigerator. Then again, it might be easier to just stare at the ceiling for one and a half hours.

Telemovie thriller is OK.

This made for TV thriller (probably made in the wake of the success of The Net) is a play by the numbers affair, but is pretty reasonable, Gigi Rice in the lead role is likeable if a little slow to realize who's stalking her in the office. There's the obligatory red herring stalker, and a quick climactic ending. Of course the "interfaces" used for the net are ridiculous as always, using programs you've never seen before. And one word of warning, the set designer should be shot for such an UGLY house. The entire living room and kitchen are BROWN!! The seventies finished years ago!!!
