As a kid, I used to love racing games. From Super Mario Kart to Wave Race or San Francisco Rush, my formative years were filled with a brimming affinity for competitive racing, particularly when I could wrangle a compadre for some couch-bound multiplayer. However, as I got older, and friends who gamed regularly were busier or harder to come by, my interests shifted away from genres like sports, fighting or racing, that relied on having another person to help you enjoy the game.

Sony is wasting no time in detailing the newcomers to PlayStation Plus for the month of May. More often than not, the Japanese publisher would hold off until a Thursday before listing what software subscribers can expect to enjoy over the following four weeks, though the company has bucked trend by showcasing the new titles making their way onto the Instant Game Collection next week.
First up, on PlayStation 4, Ether One and acclaimed indie platformer Guacamelee! Super Turbo Championship Edition will topline the offerings on Sony’s current-gen hardware, though console owners will be pleased to note that cross-buy will enable them to enjoy the other offerings, too. Specifically, Giant Sparrow’s ethereal The Unfinished Swan and Race the Sun on PlayStation 3, while Ps Vita owners can look forward to Hohokum and off-beat platformer Murasaki Baby.

The games joining the Instant Game Collection for PlayStation Plus in May has been announced by Sony, and it’s an indie-centric bunch. Chris Howe on PlayStation Blog EU writes:
Entering Ps Plus
6th May: Ether One (PS4)
6th May: Guacamelee! Super Turbo Championship Edition
6th May: The Unfinished Swan (PS4, PS3, Ps Vita)
6th May: Race the Sun (PS4, PS3, Ps Vita)
6th May: Murasaki Baby (Ps Vita)
6th May: Hohokum (PS4, PS3, Ps Vita)
This is an update for the indie lovers, and while those who only want the next Aaa shooter will likely be disappointed, there’s plenty here to be excited about. Ether One will be available to download on the day of its release, and is a “mind-twisting adventure” that can be played purely for the story, or with some challenging puzzles for the more adventurous gamer. Hohokum is a laid back, wholly original title about curiosity and exploration.

Much digital ink has been spilt about the misfortunes of the Wii U, with the Internet at large picking apart Nintendo’s struggling console piece by piece. But despite the fact that sales figures continue to paint a dire situation, The Big N has confirmed that a flurry of indie titles — including Don’t Starve, Octodad: Dadliest Catch and Never Alone — will make their way to the company’s flagship home console throughout the course of the year.
Though the a significant chunk of the listed software has been released on other platforms, it’s understood that certain ports will boast console-specific features. Puzzle platformer Never Alone, for instance, will support off-tv play, allowing players to explore the finer details of Upper One Games’ snowy landscapes.
Indeed, Nintendo isn’t leaving its 3Ds handheld out in the cold, either, noting that a selection of indie titles are on course for...

One of the main reasons I purchased both the Wii U and the New 3Ds, is for their virtual game library which includes classics from the Nes, Super Nes and Gameboy eras, along with other systems such as N64, Sega Master System, Genesis and Neo Geo when clicking into the Wii menu. Who wouldn’t want to play Mario 64, Contra 3: Alien Wars or any of the Mega Man titles, all games which have aged well over the years? Today, Nintendo of America announced the release of a host of first- and third-party digital games, including some from acclaimed indie developers, to the Nintendo eShop on Wii U and Nintendo 3Ds in 2015. In addition to anticipated upcoming games like Affordable Space Adventures, Runbow and Swords & Soldiers II, the newly announced Sos favourites Don’t Starve: Giant Edition and Never Alone will be coming to the Wii U console with exclusive GamePad features and functionality.
