I also loved watching this and quite expected there to be a follow up series. WHY do the very best things never go to a second series?

The show was well researched and authentic to the period of between the wars Britain and the surrounding countryside was beautifully shot by the camera team.

The bonds, tensions and relationships between the women in the family were very well drawn.

The story gave a vivid picture of the desperation of families in post World War 1 Britain, struggling to establish a home and new life .

Rebecca Callard though stole the show for me. She is going to do very well in future.

I loved this show. The young actress who played Harriet Marsh was really beautiful and convincing in her role. I really enjoyed the main relationship between the Mother and her 2 daughters. Why was there only 1 season I wonder? There was a wisdom in the daughters that I have rarely seen in young actors. A sadness in the eyes. I loved the way that the scenes seemed effortless and like they were allowed to grow. so many shows have a shock factor that makes scenarios unbelievable and silly. I Wish there was more stuff like this being made. The period and style are so appealing and different. Each episode focuses on the main characters setting up home in the field and you get a sense of living there with them. Beautifully shot too.
