Remakes are always a tricky proposition. Some of the greats both in the horror genre and elsewhere are actually remakes, whether it’s a loose one or not. Be it The Magnificent Seven coming from Seven Samurai or The Thing being birthed into imitation dog from the Christian Nyby and Howard Hawks original. I talk about The Thing A Lot but obviously it’s for a reason. You could also throw The Fly in that same category too while we are here. Those are some of the examples of the good but unfortunately, things can go downhill and fast. You have harmless ones like the Friday the 13th remake or Texas Chainsaw, the annoyingly unnecessary like Halloween and Amityville Horror, or the egregiously awful like The Fog and A Nightmare on Elm Street. Like them or loathe them, or in our case both, they are here to stay, and each...

A new breed of creature-features was unleashed in the 1990s and continued well into the next decade. Shaking off the ecological messaging of the past, these monsters existed for the sake of pure mayhem. Just to name a few: Tremors, The Relic, Anaconda, Godzilla, Deep Rising and Lake Placid all showcased this trend of irreverent creature chaos. Reptiles and other scaly beasts proved to be a popular source of inspiration for these films, but for that extra crawly experience, bugs were the best and quickest route. Spiders, in particular, led some of the worst infestations on screen in the early 2000s. And on the underbelly of this creeping new wave — specifically the direct-to-video sector — hangs an overlooked offering of spider horror: Arachnid.

The Alien Report: "The Alien Report follows "The Abductee" (Braxton Hale), an everyday American who finds himself hijacked by extraterrestrial beings and taken on a terrifying journey of self-preservation, running afoul of classic "grey aliens", disturbing human-et hybrids, and the U.S. government's shady Men in Black. Based on countless documented reports made by self-proclaimed abductees, The Alien Report is a meticulous, straight-faced look at what an real-life alien abduction would be like, from the perspective of first-person cameras.
The Alien Report has screened at festivals worldwide, winning awards in the U.S., UK, Australia, and Brazil. Shot on iPhone and GoPro cameras as a non-traditional narrative composed of re-assembled found footage, the picture plays out as both a sci-fi thriller and first-person documentary. It is the intended first chapter in a trilogy of films about extraterrestrial abductions.
The Alien Report was directed by Patrick Donnelly and produced by Kevin Schroeder and Michael Sell.

"This isn't your territory. It's their territory." Another international remake of a Hollywood classic! China has already remade the 1997 action-horror film about giant snakes called Anaconda, which was a huge hit when it debuted in the 90s. This new version is similar but follows a group of circus performers stranded in a rainforest. They must figure out how to survive when they discover they're marked as bait for the snakes. This Chinese remake stars Terence Yin, Nita Xia, Paul Che, Jiu Kong, Ken Lok, Wang Xing Chen, Wang Gang, Wang Zi Run, Xu Shao Hang, and Wu Hao. The original movie ended up with a few bad direct-to-video sequels (including Lake Placid vs. Anaconda in 2015) and Hollywood has also been trying to reboot it with screenwriter Evan Daugherty hired to write a new script. Until then, this Chinese version might be just as ridiculously entertaining as the original, which infamously...

Three and a half years ago, Sony’s Columbia Pictures announced that they were developing a reboot / reimagining of the 1997 “nature run amok” thriller Anaconda (watch it Here), with the intention of “taking what was a simple and relatively cheap programmer with a B-movie concept and event-izing it in scope and budget.” Tom Gormican is on board to write (and possibly direct) the film as his follow-up to the well-received action comedy The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, and we’ve heard that this new take on the concept of Anaconda might be taking a meta approach, with “actors playing loose fictional versions of themselves who go off to make an Anaconda movie and all hell breaks loose.” There was a rumor that Pedro Pascal and Paul Rudd had been offered roles in the film… But while we wait to see how that project is going to pan out, Sony Pictures...

Here's something you probably didn't expect to see today: A trailer for a Chinese remake of the '90s horror B-movie classic "Anaconda." Yes, really. And, to be perfectly honest, you're probably not prepared for just how bonkers this thing looks. Of course the original movie is pretty bonkers on its own, but this is taking things to another level. Before we discuss this further, it's probably best you watch this insanity for yourself. Check it out above.
So yeah ... much to discuss, much to process. First and foremost, the broad beats of the plot appear to be in line with the original film, with some extra stuff thrown in there. Most notably, there appears to be a lot more giant snake action. The original "Anaconda" had an animatronic snake that was very tough to work with, which limited director Luis Llosa a bit. Here? It's just lots of pretty decent CGI craziness.

After spawning three sequels and a spinoff crossover film with the Lake Placid franchise, Anaconda is plotting a return here in America, with a new movie reportedly in development.
Additionally, we’ve now learned, the ’90s classic Anaconda is getting a Chinese remake!
From directors Xiang Qui Liang and Xiang He Sheng, the upcoming Anaconda remake has unleashed a wild official trailer this week, and it’s loaded with giant snake carnage.
In the 1997 movie, a film crew is taken hostage by an insane hunter, who forces them along on his quest to capture the world’s largest – and deadliest – snake. The Chinese remake looks to feature a mostly similar storyline, centered on a massive killer known as Scarlet Naga. It also seems to feature zombies from the Qing Dynasty, which definitely weren’t in the 1990s movie.

On the movie screen, Jennifer Lopez is known for being a romantic comedy queen in films like "Maid in Manhattan," "Monster-in-Law," and "Marry Me." However, on Netflix, she appears to be pursuing a wholly different crown and going after action movie and genre glory. Sure, Lopez has made her share of genre thrillers, especially early in her career: "Money Train," "Anaconda," "U Turn," and "Out of Sight," most notably. Yet it's her turn in 2023's "The Mother" that marked her debut as a fully-fledged action star and now she's following that up with a lead performance in a big-budget sci-fi shoot 'em up, if the new trailer for Netflix's "Atlas" is any indication.
As a co-producer as well as star of "Atlas," Lopez has put together a pretty promising team to bring her next Netflix-distributed action venture to life. Alongside co-stars Simu Liu, Sterling K. Brown, and Mark Strong, the...

Digimon: The Movie. Angela Anaconda.
“Two properties tied together by forces beyond their control. You could even call it destiny.”
That’s how Angela Anaconda expert Alexandra Bender summarized the intertwined legacy of these two franchises and its spot on. In 2000, Digimon: The Movie premiered in theaters but before fans could watch the flawless masterpiece they were greeted with an unexpected Angela Anaconda short film that in the years since has drawn no shortage of ire.
The four-minute short features the characters and distinctive cutout animation of the Angela Anaconda TV series, which at that time was airing on the same network as the Digimon series, Fox Kids. The plot focuses on the titular Angela in her attempts to get a good seat for Digimon: The Movie, “the best movie of all time.” (Angela has excellent taste.) However, Angela’s mortal enemy, Nanette, is able to snag a better seat and block her view.

Nicki Minaj and Ice Spice’s fans were left angry after the two raptresses were mistakenly announced as winners of the 2024 Grammy Awards. The Recording Academy announced several winners during the Grammys’ premiere ceremony and posted those winners on its X, formerly Twitter, account.
When the Academy presented best rap song, the wrong name was posted on the micro-blogging site. Those watching the pre-televised ceremony, which steamed live on the Academy’s YouTube channel, saw that “Scientists & Engineers” by Killer Mike won the title, reports aceshowbiz.com.
However, the Recording Academy mistakenly tweeted that Nicki and Ice’s “Barbie World” from the “Barbie” soundtrack was the winner before quickly deleting it.
The retracted tweet quickly caused uproar on social media, with Barbz accusing the Academy of sabotaging their favorite star.

Three and a half years ago, Sony’s Columbia Pictures announced that they were developing a reboot / reimagining of the 1997 “nature run amok” thriller Anaconda (watch it Here), with the intention of “taking what was a simple and relatively cheap programmer with a B-movie concept and event-izing it in scope and budget”. Nicki Minaj took on the risky task of ranking her albums from best to worst, and she knew that it wasn’t going to be a universally agreed-upon list.
The 41-year-old rapper recently dropped her fifth album Pink Friday 2. As she gears up to embark upon the accompanying tour in 2024, Nicki looked back on her complete discography.
She shared her ultimate ranking with fans on X (formerly Twitter), and they’ve started voicing their opinions.

She put Pink Friday Roman Reloaded (The Re-Up), which arrived in 2012, in last place.

Jennifer Lopez is reflecting on what she wishes she had known before her rise to fame in Hollywood.
During a recent interview for Elle magazine‘s 2023 Women in Hollywood December/January issue, the multihyphenate admitted that she “really came in blind” and looking back would be more selective in what she takes on.
“I didn’t have that luxury, being Latina. I didn’t get called in for everything someone who wasn’t Latina would get called in for. They’re obviously sticking with the idea of going big with this one, because reliable “inside scoop” provider Daniel Richtman has heard that the lead roles have been offered to Paul Rudd and Pedro Pascal!

We’ve lost another Hollywood legend. The Hollywood Reporter has broken the news that cinematographer Bill Butler, best known for his work on the 1975 Steven Spielberg classic Jaws, has passed away at the age of 101. Butler died on Wednesday evening, according to the American Society of Cinematographers. He would have turned 102 on Friday – today.
Born on April 7, 1921 in Cripple Creek, Colorado, Butler earned his first entertainment industry credit by working as a camera operator on the 1959 film 1001 Arabian Nights. His first cinematographer credit came when his friend, director William Friedkin, hired him to shoot the 1962 TV movie The People vs. Paul Crump. He never attended film school, he just taught himself cinematography by watching movies and referring to the ASC manual. That approach definitely worked out for him. Over the next fifty-four years, he served as the cinematographer on eighty-four more projects, including Jack Nicholson’s Drive, He Said; The Bold Men,...

Emmy-winning cinematographer Bill Butler, who was Oscar nominated for shooting “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest,” and was also the D.P. on Steven Spielberg’s “Jaws,” died Wednesday, according to the American Society of Cinematographers. He was 101.
Spielberg remembered Butler in a statement, saying, “On ‘Jaws,’ Bill Butler was the bedrock on that rickety, rocking boat called the Orca. He was the only calm in the middle of that storm, and as we went into a battle against nature and technology that wore both of us down, the audience eventually won the war. Bill’s outlook on life was pragmatic, philosophical and so very patient, and I owe him so much for his steadfast and creative contributions to the entire look of ‘Jaws.’”
In addition to “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest,” Butler served as d.p. on a number of other high-profile films of the 1970s, including Francis Ford Coppola’s “The Conversation,...
