This movie is EVERYTHING that a bad vampire movie is made of: (spoilers)
lthseldy119 August 2003
Warning: Spoilers
This movie is just plain terrible. Poor John Savage had to stoop this low in order to be in another movie. He stars as a rare type of vampire that is to help a lady that looks like a washed out and thrown in the streets hooker that is a dancer at a local strip club. She acidently tastes a drop of blood from another dancer who happens to be one of those rare vampires as they get carried away making out on the floor of the dressing room. Savage is then assigned by a short leader of this rare vampire breed that looks like a cross between 80's punk rock and one of the Olsen twins with purple hair. This movie just gets all to crazy with Savage rapping and dancing with a midget with a tattooed spider on his head, also one of the rare. He quotes the Elephant Man and Jimmy Durante and I just had to laugh. This just gets rediculas. And then the most gross special effects that they could come up with is Corri throwing up her organs and pulling them out of her mouth. And you can tell that that is all to fake. Her son doesn't know what to do with his moms new identity and becomes more of a pest than an object of serenity. I enjoy a good vampire film, believe me I do but I just HATED this one. Even the photography stinks, in and out blurs with the camera switching this way and that trying to make it look like the vampires move to fast for the camera to keep up and then the camera turns all to bright in the scene of Savage chasing the son of Corri around till he blinds himself. Avoid this one!!

Clubbed Senseless

Warning: Spoilers
I will never be a member of any club that would have me, especially this one. Corri (Starr Andreeff) is a single mom/stripper who gets attacked by a female vampire and left for dead. She begins to get a hankering for blood, and meets up with Zero (John Savage), looking like he's wondering where he misplaced Michael Cimino's phone number. Zero is also a vampire and wants to let Corri join his little vampire family, which consists of a British vamp, the blonde vamp who attacked Corri, and a green haired little person. The family does not want Corri, so they try to kill Zero, Corri, and Corri's kid.

Someone forgot to tell Savage that this was a drama. He spends most of his screen time exhibiting more facial tics than Hugh Grant on an espresso bender, and he reads all of his lines like he is making a Farrelly Brothers film. Andreeff tries to make the most of a badly written role, but screenwriter/director Ruben goes for all the vampire cliches, like Starr eating her son's pet hamster and buying a lot of raw meat to fight the craving for blood. The kid also gets knocked around a lot, I don't think violence against children is really entertaining. The film is extra gory, but not in a wild, over the top way like "Killer Tongue." Here, the gore is gross and never justified, it just occurs. It is just in the budget. Most of the R rating goes to Corri's coworkers, who are put through embarrassing strip routines in the background of conversation scenes. The budget does not include vampire fangs. All the vampires here must stab their prey to eat. Nifty idea, unless you have already seen George Romero's "Martin." Even at 77 minutes, and once you throw in Ruben's attempts at arty direction (skewed frames, blurred scenes), this is one tiresome, dull, and dirty ride. Leave this club and take a shower, you will need it.

I was watching this with one of my friends, who is a vampire freak, and I was extremely disgusted at the fact that this film exists. This film should be shown to prisoners of war, yes, it's that bad. Even John McCain wouldn't be able to sit through this. So why the 3/10 rating? Because it had a vampire midget. Come on, what's more entertaining than a vampire midget? There's one scene in this film where John Savage gets laid by saying "I want to feel human again," and the chick, being the brainless stripper slut she is, lets him "feel human". I wish I could "feel human" with Jessica Alba or Megan Fox. This is a movie for stoners. There is bright flashy objects and random movements. All in all, don't waste your money on this garbage. I got it for free when I was walking down the street with my friend and we saw a garbage barrel full of video tapes and a sign that said "free". So, in a way, I didn't get ripped off, but still...

A fun John Savage performance, a low quality movie.
contronatura20 February 2000
As far as vampire films go, this is undeniably weak. But it does have one redeeming quality - John Savage. He seems to be having a good time making this film. Imagine his character from The Thin Red Line as a happy-go-lucky vampire, and that's what you get in this film. Aside from Savage, though, this isn't good. This is a Roger Corman film, so it has lots of the usual T&A and cheesy gore, but even that's not enough to recommend it. Unless you're a John Savage completist.

Absolutely awful
ziggi2113 July 2000
I first came upon this movie in a video store looking for a horror movie to pass the time later that night. The back sounded interesting, so I grabbed it and took it home. This has to be one of the worst movies in cheesy movie history. The acting was, for the most part, terrible, and the plot had no real meaning. The film and graphics were also extremely bad and the ending was extremely stupid. Needless to say, the movie was returned and replaced on the shelf for the next poor movie watcher that stumbles upon it. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone.

Absolutely unwatchable, lowest quality film making.
Mark-1657 November 1998
Absolutely unwatchable, lowest quality film making. This film makes "Show Girls" look good. The acting is insufferable. The cinematography gives a bad name to amateurism. No wonder it went right to video and bypassed the theaters. This film wasn't released...it escaped.

Worst movie ever!
zombiecad30 December 2004
This is probably the worst movie ever made it is just to bad the name of Roger Corman is associated with it. I could've understand it in his early years when he had lower budgets but nowadays there is no excuses for giving birth to this! I'm a "B" movie pervert and from certain people point of view all the flicks I love are put aside by "regular viewers" but take my word on this one, Vampire club makes the top of my list of the best of worst. It's hard to Imagine, vampires with no fangs, the music score is totally out of place, the sound effects are just not effective and finally Mr.Savage doesn't seem to know he is in a vampire movie at all witch is too bad 'cause he had a "not to bad" career over all. Let me know i'f I'm to hard on this one cause when I don't like a movie I tend to forget about it's good side.

very acquired taste

All of the acting is good and I can not emphasize enough on the artistically genius way this film was directed. The film is graphic but there is enough black humor to put it off, otherwise it would be a cold and brittle film. If you have seen nearly every vampire movie ever created or are trying to, you could like this, if you're open minded and not one to compare.

I am not saying that this movie is substandard or inferior to any other vampire movie, just definitely one of a kind, and obviously misunderstood. not for squeamish or prudes.

If you like David Lynch and violent vampire films, you might like this. I wasn't too fancy on the soundtrack but it wasn't horrible either, soft goth rock or something like that but the OST is fine.

Club Vampire
Scarecrow-8819 February 2011
Warning: Spoilers
Star Andreeff stars as a stripper who is infected with vampire blood and is turned into a bloodsucker when John Savage, a member of the undead clan, fails to kill her at the order of their leader. Oddball comedy with a particularly strange vampire brood straight out of a David Lynch movie. Savage, with a lower lip ring and a propensity to quote movie lines, seems to be having fun in his role as an eccentric vampire who doesn't like to suck blood(his peers consider him a joke, nicknaming him a vegetarian!)and becomes Andreeff's only ally(for some reason, his bunch are all inclusive and do not wish to indoctrinate a new member). One bizarre scene has Andreeff barfing out her insides. Andy Ruben features small strip club numbers(the club is of the underground variety where kink and S&M are the preferred acts by their clientèle)sprinkled in throughout. Andreeff, striking even when she's sickly and starving for blood, was previously in another unique vampire movie, DANCE OF THE DAMNED, and seems at home portraying down-on-their-luck women who live in seedy environments, trying to make ends meet however she can, and in CLUB VAMPIRE she is a single mom working in a club to support her son, the money brought in furnishing his private school education(whenever he bothers to attend, that is)and the condo which is their home. Savage bites the head off of a rat, gets his tongue pulled out by his leader, and sorrows for the loss of his humanity after centuries of seeing civilizations crumble and die to disease and plague. Savage and Andreeff share quite a bit of screen time together, due to his inability to kill her, instead opting to save her, placing himself in danger against his peeps. Ruben shoots in a lot of street urban locations, like alleyways and corners, but is consistent in returning to the club(which has a vampire head at the front, the entrance a fanged mouth)time and again to remind us of Andreeff's position in life and the reason she's in her current situation. Regular on Twin Peaks, dwarf Michael Anderson, has a colorful role as a member of the bloodthirsty vampires who enjoy the predatory hunt of human beings. The other two vampires are Marriam Parris and Diana Frank. Some might remember Ross Malinger as Rocky Balboa's son, here portraying Andreeff's kid, a potential feast if she or Savage can not stop Parris from carrying out her plans. Severed heads are a constant, including one sequence where Savage's head reattaches to his neck! Executive produced by Roger Corman through his New Concorde. I'm on my own because I didn't consider this an absolute failure and one of the worst movies ever made--just weird and kooky. It's unfortunate that Andreeff's career never rose out of the B-movie cellar, she always had potential. Since this movie she has sort of "retired" from the business, many would say CLUB VAMPIRE is one of those reasons. I kind of liked it myself.

I have no idea why this movie is rated so low. I love John Savage and his character makes this movie enjoyable to watch. Starr is also awesome. It is very graphic though. There's a whole part where she's pulling her intestines out of her body through her mouth. Oh yeah she eats a hamster in this movie, not the prettiest sight but it looks really cool. The whole vampire story lines is somewhat original but different. Same in the way that they can't be in the sunlight and they can die by being decapitated, but different when their faces aren't' Major distorted and that theirs so many of them that they just KILL KILL and KILL some more.

Absolute WORST film I have ever had the misfortune to see
Argentyn1 February 1999
I seriously regret having paid even the small rental fee associated with this. The film quality is poor at best, the cinematography was crap, the poor staging gave me headaches. If there was acting in this film I have yet to even find a ghost of it, let along the idea of a plot.

This stupid thing made Buffy the Vampire Slayer (the movie) and Children of the Night look like great theatre!

I could not even get more than 32 minutes into this piece of garbage and returned it and I DON'T MISS IT!!

Well, it could have been better!

John Savage sinks to new lows...he can act, but the script is all over the place...no one can salvage this one. I am a real fan of vampire films and it was tough to sit through this one. Unless you just gotta watch it, I'd say pass on it.

It Sucks Bad
lonewolf741 December 2001
When first read it in Fangora's Video List in 1998 I thought this is a good movie to rent and because of they built it up as a good movie. Boy I was wrong really wrong The first part was sick when the stripper mom turns into a vampire and toss her cookies on the floor. Then on the almost last part of the movie was not right the son of the stripper/vampire was going to become a vampire himself by the female leader vampire and the second female vampire who turns his mom into one. But they stopped at that part and I was p***ed I wanted to see a threesome because in some vampire movies you don't see that between a woman, a man, and a woman. So I keep on watching still mad all the way to the stuipd ending. To the people who want to see this movie please don't save your money for something else.

Can't believe this movie was made.
jess-1216 May 1999
I was embarrassed for John Savage as this movie was one of his worst choices. His performance was quite over the top and I assume he was doing a friend a favor or this was his chance to experiment. Whatever the reason, I still watched it twice since his character was somewhat sexy, somewhat strange and very loose. Also, he is looking better than ever proven by his shirtless physique during the majority of the movie. As for the other characters, they just filled up space and really had no impact on me. Some parts of the movie made no sense and the club scenes were totally wacked out. If you are a Savage fan, watch it for his weird performance, but be prepared for an idiotic movie overall.

Savage Picture of Addiction
dutra-220 June 1999
Vampire blood lust and the need for a plasma fix is a favorite of this director. A one time substance abuser, Mr. Ruben is trying to come to terms with his addiction through this dark and disturbing film. Think of it as similar to Oliver Stone's Platoon or George Lucas' American Graffiti. This film is an artistic exploration of heroin, replacing the needle for fangs.

If you believe anything I've just stated then you should be able to stomach this piece of trite. Otherwise, take your brain and your money else where.

Drive a stake through this one's heart by not watching.

John Savage...... My, how the mighty has fallen. Do yourself a favor. When you see this film at your local video store, make the sign of the cross with your fingers (or, pinch your nose--optional) and just walk away. If you rent (or God-forbid, buy) this film, it WIll suck the brain cells right out of your head.
