Since the beliefs that parents want to instill in their children can vary greatly, we ask that instead of adding your personal opinions about what is right or wrong in a film, that you instead use this feature to help parents make informed viewing decisions by describing the facts of relevant scenes in the title for each one of the different categories: Sex and Nudity, Violence and Gore, Profanity, Alcohol/Drugs/Smoking, and Frightening/Intense Scenes.

Sex & Nudity

Dr. Weir imagines his wife about to take a bath and she is topless

later on in the movie she ends up cutting herself lying topless in the tub in her own blood

even later in the film a brief scene of a violent orgy is taking place....its away from the screen...but still visible

Violence & Gore

Gore scale 1-10: 10 = Extreme Gore

*Strong bloody violence and frightening moments

In a dream sequence we see a corpse with its mouth open

In several scenes the ship makes the crew see things (Weir's dead wife with red, empty eyes, a burning man, several glimpses of torment (people hanging on hooks screaming, worms etc.) But this is very brief))

Miller sees a severed hand flying through the air

In the Event Horizon we see several glimpses of blood, guts and skulls

Justin is sucked into some kind of gateway

The Lewis and Clark suffers severe damage from a minor explosion and Miller is blown away

Peters turns on gravity on the Event Horizon and a body which has been exposed to zero gravity for 7 years now falls to the floor and splinters in a highly graphic fashion

Peters sees her son lying on an examination table with his legs ripped open (brief, but graphic)

Another minor explosion startles Peters and something is banging furiously (trying to get into the ship) when Weir goes to open the door Starck graps his hand and causes him pain

Justin tries to commit suicide by throwing himself out of an air lock. His body turns veiny, and he starts bleeding from every opening in his body but Miller comes to rescue him and gets him inside (Justin's badly injured but he survives)

In a very bloody scene we briefly see the former crewmembers on the Event Horizon killing themselves (tongue ripping, eye goughing etc.)

Miller shoves Weir

Peters falls a long distance to her death (with very bloody results)

In another vision Weir sees his wife commit suicide in the bathtub (the bathtub is filled with blood) and to escape the pain he goughes his eyes out also implying some kind of possession

The pilot Smith is killed when Lewis and clark is destroyed in an explosion and Cooper is blown a long distance

DJ is ambushed by Weir (now obviously posessed) and cuts him open, the cutting isn't seen although we see some blood on DJ's face

Miller sees DJ hanging in the ceeling in the OR of the Event Horizon (we briefly see his guts lying on the operation table)

Weir shoots at Starck and Miller but misses and this causes the ship to open and suck Weir into space but Miller and Starck makes it

Blood drips onto Coopers hand and he sees a river of blood, this overflows the room and bathes Starck in blood

Miller is pushed a long distance by a burning man which turns out to be Weir (now a live demon-thinhgy with bloody cuts all over his naked body)

Miller hits Weir several times with a rod of some sort, but eventually Weir gets the upper hand and punches and kicks Miller many times

A big explosion kills two men

Starck is startled when she has a vision of Weir being one of her rescuers

Profanity

there are 26 "F- words", 15 "S - words", a few G*dd*mns and other more minor swearing, plus we see someone give "the finger".

Infrequent smoking

Extremely disturbing sequences of torture, rape and parts that could make you jump, as well as frequent references, both verbal and visual, to hell. Throughout, this is an extremely violent and disturbing movie.

A man is shown with deep cuts all over his face
