Jim Lee is a very popular comic book writer and artist. He did some amazing art for Marvel's X-Men in the late '80s and early '90s. I loved the X-Men comics that he worked on. He then co-founded Image Comics where he did some really cool stuff such as WildC.A.T.s and Gen 13 under his Wildstorm Productions studio. Gen 13 was one of my favorites. He was most recently involved with rebranding all DC Comics superheroes in The New 52. Lee's designs are now the guide for most of DC's most popular characters, and he's also serving as co-publisher of the company.
Whats funny about all this is that Marvel and DC both rejected Lee several times before they finally gave him a shot. Lee has shared some of these rejection letters online, and I've posted them here to read. What's so great about this is that Lee never gave up.

Bleeding Cool reports that Al Rio, best known for his work for Wildstorm, Marvel, and Zenescope, died this morning in an apparent suicide. He was 49.
Al Rio, born Alvaro Araújo Lourenço do Rio on 05/19/62, was raised in Fortaleza, in the northeast of Brazil. Al began his career in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, as an artist in the early ’90s, illustrating books for a local English School.
After working as animation director at this same company, Al became an animator in Brazil for Disney, working on such properties as the syndicated Aladdin animated series.
Upon joining the comics-centric international art agency Glass House Graphics in the mid-’90s, Al began working for DC Comics, though his “big break” came from succeeding J. Scott Campbell on Wildstorm’s Gen 13. From there, Al, best known for his versatility and his ability of drawing some of the sexiest women in comics, went on to draw for Marvel,...

If you caught the "Glee" Season 2 premiere last night on Fox, you were sharing a common experience with Rob Liefeld. He tweeted a few reactions to the show last night, and ultimately came to a conclusion that shocked him.
Shock was a fairly common emotion in the comics yesterday, though. DC Comics announced some shifts and changes that, among other things, included closing their WildStorm and Zuda imprints. These moves turned out to be the hot topics in the Twitter Report feed yesterday, and you can catch a handful of reactions after the jump. They're there along with some Terry Moore Kitty Pryde art, Mark Millar's thoughts on "The Town," and more.

It was a day of big news for DC Comics today, and part of the news is the announcement that DC is shutting down their WildStorm imprint as well as shutting down their webcomic division, Zuda Comics.
On a statement on DC’s blog The Source, co-publishers Dan Didio and Jim Lee spoke of the changes occurring within the company and their efforts to focus on what makes most sense to them as a publisher.
What does the end of these two imprints mean? Not much, really. It is bad news for the Zuda creators who are now out of work, as well as a number of WildStorm employees who may lose their job, and we hope they all land on their feet. However, any popular books at WildStorm are sure to be carried over and will see publication under DC’s main line.

Megan Fox apparently dreams of playing a lesbian Apache superhero in a movie. Interviewed on the red carpet for the world premiere of "Jonah Hex", the Mikaela Banes of the first two "Transformers" movies has revealed her desire to star as Sarah Rainmaker from Jim Lee and Brandon Choi's comic series "Gen 13".
"I don't want people to protest this, but I would like to be [Sarah] Rainmaker in 'Gen 13 ' if they ever made that into a movie," the 24-year-old beauty told Fox News. Confident that the role will fit her nicely, she pointed out, "She's a Native American and I have a little bit of that blood in me. It would be a bit of a stretch, but if Jake Gyllenhaal can be the Prince of Persia, I think that I can do that."
