It can be inferred from the pilot episode, The Homecoming: A Christmas Story, that John Walton, Sr., died shortly after the events of this movie, the last installment in The Waltons legacy. It was stated in the pilot that John died in 1969, the same year in which Earl Hamner's own father died.
Last of the Waltons' television movies.
David W. Harper (Jim-Bob Walton) had put on a great deal of weight by this time and appears briefly in only a couple of scenes with barely a few lines of dialogue.
The only reference to John Curtis in this movie is when Janet mentions to Mary Ellen that she had 3 children. He was never mentioned in the prior two reunion movies. The viewers are left to wonder what happened to him after 1946.
Final film of actresses Ellen Corby, Mary Jackson, and Helen Kleeb.
