In the early 1990s, Michael Jackson had plans to buy Marvel to play its most famous superhero, Spider-Man, in a film adaptation. He discussed his plans with none other than the creator of the superhero, Stan Lee, who was a friend of Jackson. However, his plans never materialized. According to one rumor, Jackson may have played a role in Sony acquiring the rights to the character from Marvel.

This rumor suggests that Sony was supposed to give the role of Uncle Ben in the Tobey Maguire-led film to the Smooth Criminal artist. However, Sony couldn’t cast him in the role and instead gave him a cameo role of Agent M in Men in Black II.

Greg Finley, a prolific voiceover actor whose many credits include animated fare like Robotech and live-action projects including The X-Files and Men at Work II, died peacefully February 1 of heart-related causes while on vacation at a family member’s home in Phoenix, Arizona. He was 76.
His death was announced by his son Guy Finley.
A voiceover actor with scores of credits stretching back to the 1980s, Finley (occasionally credited under the name Guy Garrett) had by that time already begun his show business career as an on-screen actor with small roles in episodes of, among others, Kolchak: The Night Stalker (1975) and, in 1981, Flo and The Misadventures of Sheriff Lobo.

The Men in Black franchise is known for its fascinating alien species, with the skinny worms being particularly developed and integrated into the story. The worms work at Mib headquarters, are peaceful, and have a love for coffee. They play a larger role in later movies and even have their own language. There is a subtle connection between the worms and the Star Wars universe, as they speak the same language as Jabba the Hutt, suggesting that Men in Black may exist within that universe.
The sci-fi comedy Men in Black features a wide variety of alien species, and the skinny alien worms are among the most memorable in Mib, but their backstory isn't that clear. Released in 1997 to rave reviews, Men in Black follows agents of a secret government organization who are tasked with preventing alien threats on planet Earth. Surprisingly, Bad Boys 4 is already coming in 2024, breaking Will Smith's record for fastest sequel turnaround. Bad Boys for Life was one of the highest-grossing movies of 2020, leading to the quick announcement of a fourth installment. Despite little hype so far, Bad Boys 4 could potentially be the franchise's biggest hit yet, especially considering the lack of big-budget, R-rated action franchises like Bad Boys.
It feels odd Bad Boys 4 is coming in 2024 since word on the sequel has been oddly quiet, but it also breaks a surprising Will Smith record. While Smith has appeared in a few sequels to his biggest hits, he's been selective in this area. He passed on Independence Day: Resurgence to make Suicide Squad instead, and while his absence was keenly felt in the former, it can't be denied the latter was the bigger hit. He also skipped on returning for James Gunn's soft reboot The Suicide Squad,...

There’ll be some happy holidays on Prime Video in December, as the streamer’s seasonal offerings hope to keep the fires warm in your home this month!
As such, there are quite a few new original holiday movies coming to the service. At the beginning of the month, Eddie Murphy stars in Candy Cane Lane. In this film, the Beverly Hills Cop and Coming to America star plays a determined man who is willing to go above and beyond to win the annual Christmas home decoration contest in his neighborhood – even if it means making a very magical deal.
The DC universe will also be getting festive in December thanks to Merry Little Batman, an animated feature that sees Batman’s son, Damian Wayne, stumble upon a villainous plot on Christmas eve, one that may give him a chance to save the day when his dad isn’t around.

Will Smith's movie and TV songs, such as those from "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" and "Men in Black," have had a lasting impact on popular culture. Some of Smith's movie and TV songs, like the end-credits remix of "Friend Like Me" in "Aladdin," didn't resonate as well with audiences, possibly due to the lack of a music video. Smith's song "Wild Wild West" from the film of the same name was a commercial success despite the film's failure, showcasing the power of music videos in popular culture.
Will Smith's music and acting career often joined together, with several of his most popular songs having been written specifically for a film or TV series he starred in. This added an extra layer of interest to these projects since audiences were given a sort of souvenir to remember Smith's role by. Years later, songs from The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air,...

Streaming services are now trying to ration their upcoming original content due to the ongoing actors strike and the only recently-resolved writers’ strike, so we’re going to see a thinning-down of new releases across the board over the next six months at least. Hulu will be adding a lot of library TV shows and movies in November, but there are only a few new major original projects hitting the streamer this month.
Hulu’s spotlight streaming series in November is Black Cake, which is based on the bestselling book by Charmaine Wilkerson. Part family drama, part murder mystery, the show features a globetrotting story that will cover decades of events after a bereaved family find a flash drive that contains some shocking secrets about the hidden history of their late matriarch.

With over a hundred acting credits to her name, when it comes to selecting Rosario Dawson's best movies and TV shows, there are plenty to choose from. She's been delighting audiences ever since her first ever on-screen appearance, at age 15, as "Girl in the Emergency Room" in a 1993 episode of Sesame Street. She went on to star in her first feature film, Kids, just two years later. Unlike many other child stars, Dawson wasn't a "nepo baby," as she didn't come from rich or famous parents, meaning that she can truly claim to be a self-made success.
Before becoming an actor, Dawson was thinking about becoming a marine biologist (via US Weekly). Thankfully for audiences worldwide, she made a career in film and television, and at this point, she has countless amazing roles behind her. Throughout the early to mid-2000s, Dawson became a household name following her roles in films like "Josie and the Pussycats," "Men in Black II," and "Rent." She also has notably starred in film adaptations of comic books, including "Sin City" and Netflix's Marvel TV series. Most recently, Dawson can be seen in the Disney+ series "Ahsoka" and "Haunted Mansion," which premiered in July 2023.
When she isn't occupied with acting jobs, though, Dawson keeps her personal life under the radar. Since being in the public eye, Dawson has been linked to comedian Eric André and politician Cory Booker. Currently, she's dating Nnamdi Okafor, whom she met in 2022. Will Smith's portrayal of Agent J in the Men in Black franchise contributed to the series' success, with his charisma and human touch making the movies exciting. The studio decided not to include Smith in Men in Black: International due to concerns about the cost. Smith's salaries for the Men in Black movies increased significantly over time, with him making $5 million for the first film and $100 million for the third film, making him one of the few actors to earn nine figures for a single movie.
Will Smith was one of the most bankable movie stars in the '90s and 2000s, and the actor earned the biggest paychecks of his career for the Men in Black series. In the mid-90s, Smith made a name for himself with Bad Boys and Independence Day, but it was 1997's family comedy Men in Black that had mass appeal and the biggest franchise potential.

Will Smith initially turned down the lead role in Men in Black, not wanting to be a part of another alien movie after Independence Day. Director Steven Spielberg convinced Smith to reconsider by sending a helicopter to his house and appealing to him personally. Smith's portrayal of Agent J in Men in Black became iconic and contributed to the success of the franchise, making his decision to accept the role the right one.
Megastar Will Smith recounted when director Steven Spielberg confronted him on his initial decision to turn down the lead role in Men in Black. Smith's role in Men in Black has become iconic, with the actor himself becoming heavily associated with the franchise in pop culture. However, Smith turned down the initial offer for a role of James Darrell Edwards III (a.ka. Agent J) in Men in Black, not wanting to be part of the movie.

With its list of new releases for July 2023, Prime Video is going to help you stay safe from the oppressive July sun.
Highlighting the Amazon Originals on the TV side this month are two heavy hitters. The first is The Horror of Dolores Roach on July 7. Based on a podcast of the same name, this series could best be described as a modern day Sweeney Todd? Why, you ask? Well you know why. Think about it. Then season 2 of Neil Gaiman adaptation Good Omens premieres on July 28. This season will follow angel Aziraphale (Michael Sheen) and demon Crowley (David Tenant) as they seek to keep the Archangel Gabriel (Jon Hamm) away from both heaven and hell.
There aren’t any Amazon Original movies of note this month and that’s alright as the influx of library titles is more than enough. July 1 sees the arrival of The 40-Year-Old Virgin, No Country for Old Men,...

Will Smith's debut movie received great reviews but proved to be a total bomb back in 1992. Smith became one of the biggest movie stars in the world during the '90s and it's almost hard to imagine a time he wasn't huge. His music career led to beloved sitcom The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air, which ran between 1990 and 1996. In between seasons, Smith made some film appearances, including a supporting role in1993 comedy Made In America - starring Whoopi Goldberg and Ted Danson - and drama Six Degrees Of Separation, where he won acclaim for his role as a young con artist.
While Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air marked Smith's acting debut, his first movie was actually the gritty 1992 drama Where the Day Takes You. This follows a group of runaway teenagers living on the streets of Los Angeles and has an impressive ensemble that includes Sean Astin, Lara Flynn Boyle,...

As a comic book series, Men in Black played heavily on the strange goings-on in the world and pulp '50s-era agents that would answer the call. However, due to the largely mature nature of the comics, there had to be a change when the time came for the property to be adapted into a movie. As a result, the dynamic between Agent J (Will Smith) and Agent K (Tommy Lee Jones) was born, with the former being a more lighthearted character and the latter being the one that embraced the straight-laced tone of the comics.
In the Men in Black trilogy, the focus was mainly on Agent J as he started as a rookie agent under Kay's mentorship and eventually into a seasoned agent that looked at Kay as more of a father figure than a mentor. Because Jay carried his heart on his sleeve, it made it easy...

As one of the most popular and beloved comic book characters, Batman has been adapted to the big screen various times, with some projects more successful than others, so it’s not surprising that various artists show interest in being part of one of the Dark Knight’s movies, and among them was Michael Jackson, who wanted to play a specific character. Batman’s history on the big screen began in the 1940s with two serial films, followed by an adaptation of the 1960s Batman TV show in 1966, with Adam West and Burt Ward reprising their roles as Batman and Robin, respectively.
The Caped Crusader returned to the big screen in 1989 in Tim Burton’s Batman, which was followed by a sequel, Batman Returns, three years later. The Dark Knight went through a major tone shift in Joel Schumacher’s Batman Forever and Batman & Robin before Christopher Nolan focused...

Despite being named Agent J's new partner in Men In Black, Linda Fiorentino's Agent L was completely omitted from Men In Black 2. Throughout the first movie, Agent L was established as smart, capable, and wholly uninterested in "normal" people. She makes for the perfect Men In Black agent, and following Agent K's retirement at the end of Men In Black she steps in as Agent J's new partner, seemingly primed for a major role in any future adventures.
That even held true in Men In Black: The Animated Series, in which Agent L (voiced by Jennifer Lien instead of Linda Fiorentino), has a significant role within the Men In Black organization for the first few seasons. When Men In Black 2 debuted, however, Agent L was merely mentioned in a throwaway line about how she wanted to return to her previous job in the medical field, and was neuralyzed.

Looking at the Men In Black movies ranked shows that the franchise had a lot more potential that it has failed to capitalize on. After the universally beloved original film starring Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones, the producers could never quite figure out where they wanted to take the franchise next. This has resulted in some disappointing sequels and a severe drop in cultural influence as time has gone on. The franchise about a government agency that monitors aliens on Earth is a terrific premise, but the Men in Black movies ranked show it hasn't always been capitalized on.
The Men In Black's cinematic history, again proves that capturing the magic of the original is a taller task than most realize. Two direct sequels and a spinoff failed to strike a chord while many are still disappointed the Men in Black/Jump Street crossover never worked out. But...

Wait a minute, you might be asking, isn’t HBO Max supposed to be “Max” now? How then, am I seeing a list of HBO Max new releases for May 2023? Well spotted, dear reader. Warner Bros. Discovery did indeed recently reveal that it would be rebranding its combined HBO Max and Discovery+ streaming service as just Max. As the company notes in its press release for May though, that change doesn’t take effect until May 23. What follows is a list of everything coming to HBO Max through May 22.
The biggest releases this month are two TV series that arrive at the beginning of May. White House Plumbers is a comedic take on the infamous Watergate scandal starring Woody Harrelson and Justin Theroux. That will be followed by season 3 of The Other Two, which I personally consider the funniest show on television. Catch up now before it’s too late!

HBO Max will officially be replaced by Warner Bros. Discovery on May 23 with a new and improved service called Max. However, that doesn’t mean the service is scrimping on content until then. One of the biggest new releases of the month is the new limited series “White House Plumbers,” which will premiere on May 1. Starring Woody Harrelson as E. Howard Hunt and Justin Theroux as G. Gordon Liddy, the pair portray two real-life Watergate burglars and Nixon saboteurs who ended up destroying the very president they desperately wanted to serve.
Check out the “White House Plumbers” trailer:
The platform will head to the pitch on May 16 with a three-part soccer docuseries “Angel City.” The series goes behind the scenes with the groundbreaking Los Angeles-based professional women’s soccer team, Angel City Football Club. HBO Max will add several exciting new TV show premieres and movies to its catalog in May 2023 before being rebranded as “Max.” After launching in 2020 as the primary streaming home for Warner Bros – now Warner Bros. Discovery – titles, HBO Max is officially losing the first half of its name in a rebranding come May 23. After this point, the streaming service will be launched as Max, which will also come with some changes to subscription tiers. Nevertheless, HBO Max will still be releasing new hit titles between May 1 and 22 under the original brand, which includes the premiere of a highly anticipated HBO miniseries and the arrival of classic film franchises.

The late '90s/early 2000s were a rough patch for Harrison Ford. Aside from 2000's "What Lies Beneath," the veteran star just couldn't seem to pick the right projects, with everything from 1999's "Random Hearts" to 2002's "Hollywood Homicide" (in which Ford agreed to star without seeing a finished script) struggling to make a critical or financial impression. But perhaps the lowest point came in 2002 when Ford starred in Kathryn Bigelow's sort of historical retelling of a narrowly averted Soviet submarine disaster, "K-19: The Widowmaker."
Loosely based on the story of the Soviet Union's first nuclear-powered submarine, which malfunctioned in 1961 and caused the death of 28 sailors from radiation poisoning, "K-19" was doomed from the outset. The film, as the Chicago Tribune put it, used a "fraction of the truth," noting that this was the National Geographic Society's first foray into blockbuster filmmaking. The company's then head...

Actors' salaries keep increasing over time, but only four actors have ever made $100 million for a single movie. When it comes to how much money actors make, movie stars often get paid more than anyone else involved in the production. That's because stars are bankable, as certain actors come with a guaranteed audience, meaning that even movies that are negatively received could be hugely successful thanks to the right person in the lead role.
Many actors have a minimum salary demand, and much of a blockbuster movie's budget goes to its cast. The biggest stars in Hollywood often don't work for less than $20 million a picture while Daniel Craig was paid $100 million for two Knives Out sequels. It has become increasingly popular in Hollywood for stars to get back-end points, which means they earn a percentage of the movie's box office gross, and that has led to some astronomical salaries...

It is not uncommon for the second movie in a franchise to disappoint, as many movie series have shown, over the years. And there is even a Reddit thread dedicated to this topic. Whether a sequel is a horrible movie on its own, or it just doesn't compare to the first film, viewers have made their opinions about certain sequels and their place in their respective franchises abundantly clear.
Transformers
Redditor BhamBlazer615 gave the Transformers franchise as their pick when they stated, "Transformers 2 was garbage." Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen contains the plot line of protagonist Sam going to college and his strained relationship with his parents.

In 1996, Michael Jackson paraded the globe with the HIStory World Tour, playing 82 shows for over 4.5 million fans. That same year, the King of Pop apparently had his sights set on an entirely different gig: playing Morpheus in a television adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s “The Sandman.”
“By 1996, I was being taken to Warners, where the then-president of Warner Bros. sat me down and told me that Michael Jackson had phoned him the day before and asked him if he could star as Morpheus in ‘The Sandman,'” Gaiman said on Josh Horowitz’s “Happy Sad Confused” podcast. “So, there was a lot of interest in this, and they knew that it was one of the Crown Jewels, and what did I think? And I was like, ‘Ooh.'”
Over the last few decades, Gaiman received several offers to adapt his sprawling comic book series for the screen. “The Sandman” finally...

Alright, high-five: Patrick Warburton made a surprise guest appearance on “The Bachelorette” as contestant Zach Shallcross’ real-life uncle.
The actor, known for portraying Elaine’s (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) quirky boyfriend Puddy on “Seinfeld,” was first seen in a promo for Monday night’s episode, which saw star Rachel Recchia join the final four (including Shallcross) for hometown dates. In the clip, Warburton says, “I just feel sorry for those other fellas” — in his signature deep drawl that he lent to Kronk in “The Emperor’s New Groove.”
As the video made the rounds on social media, Warburton cheekily tweeted, “I’m being asked ‘why are you on The Batchelorette ?’ [sic] It’s my favorite show? I’m addicted..? I have a crush on that Zach Shallcross fellow? Or…all of the above? Or…Zach is my nephew? Or…all of the above?”
