Stretched Too Far
helfeleather11 January 2003
I think this is meant to be realistic, but quite a few scenes just don't wash.

Laura leaves her bludging abusive partner Michael and goes to stay with her sister Joan. Michael can't cope with this, so he slips on his leather jacket, hops on his motorbike, moves to an abandoned amusement park and becomes a bad boy, harassing Laura and turning Joan against her own sister.

Nancy Mckeon did a great job!
madamlilli12 December 1999
This movie was full of suspense also leaving you on the edge of your seat towards the end it had a very meaningful ending unlike most movies. Nancy plays a sister who feels trapped in her sisters shadow. She was jealous of her fathers attention given to her sister feeling it was her fault their father killed himself because she never went to get her sister when he called for her..later in life she felt alone isolating herself from men it seemed afraid of hurt and rejection, her sister on the other hand has her hands full with a disturbed ex who feeds on Nancy's weakness to get to her sister..

"In My Sister´s Shadow" : More true to life than you think . . . a sensitive (to human nature) film.
junedahl18 September 2018
This film is very inciteful about the complex family "sibling relationship" and family dynamics. It is very believable to those in a (perhaps somewhat less DRAMATIC situation , that is , a similar situation minus the violence such as the horrible suicides ! These people who choose suicide are obviously sick and unbalanced, however, the situation of misunderstandings in intimate family relations, can occurr when everyday people, take each other for granted and trample mercilessly on each others feelings ; when our tongue utters ALL the thoughts in our head that we FAIL to FILTER before throwing them out to each other . This film is full of reflection over this evil : taking each other´s reactions and feelings for granted. Hurting and tampling on another by insensitive egotism or selfishness . This film illustrates the damage over time, to ourselves and others, such callousness effects.

Shadow of the shower
parky-316 February 1999
It's a tragedy, really. But it's worth remembering that 15 minutes of fame don't neccessarily set you up for life. Janet Leigh, who took part in just about the most famous scene in movie history (the Psycho shower scene, if you've not seen many movies), has been reduced to this level of inane dross. It alleges to be a suspense thriller, but it must feel like a bad comedy to someone who worked with Hitchcock. As far as the plot goes, a naive woman gets caught up in a twisted revenge plan hatched by her sister's deranged ex. Nancy McKeon and Alexandra Wilson also star.

In My Sister's Shadow is a Movie Gem.
jameswallwork19 February 2021
I just watched this movie and I have to say it's one of the best movies (especially made for TV) that I've watched in quite sometime. The plot of the movie reeled me in but, to be honest I wasn't sure what to expect after a few TV movies I'd recently seen. However, I was happily surprised. Not only is the plot great but the acting and storytelling are fantastic as well. It's not just another movie that deals with the usual crazed stalker which you might think. However it's a movie that deals with interesting and complicated issues, emotions and feelings which, are portrayed very well by the main actors of the movie consequently, making this movie even more enjoyable. If your looking for an interesting and enjoyable watch give this movie a chance I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

People living lives and trying to be caring to each other
unconditionalcaring16 November 2005
Warning: Spoilers
Hi *smile* A woman who focuses her caring energies on plants and people that she has grown up close to her feels that the world does not give her the caring attention that others close to her receive. Whether someone is able to find caring people to be with seems to depend on happenstance since it is sadly easy to "get lost" in the world of uncaring norms of behavior. So she clings to the people close to her even though they are not being caring towards her in terms of respecting her needs. Emotional pain and lack of communication contribute to the barriers of caring with the people she is close to. Yet they are able to care enough to care about each other and work out the issues through traumatic adventures involving a gun and kidnapping.
