FilmThe yet-to-be-titled film will reportedly have actor Rishi in the lead role.Digital NativePopular Tamil actor, singer and producer Dhanush will soon make his foray into the Kannada film industry. The actor-producer, who is currently producing the Malayalam film Tharangam starring actor Tovino Thomas in the lead role, has now set his eyes on the Sandalwood industry as well. Though there is no official word on it as of now, the film is currently in its pre-production phase and is slated to go on the floors by the end of summer. To be directed by debutante Islauddin, the movie is rumoured to be a remake of Tamil blockbuster Nanum Rowdydhan, which starred Vijay Sethupathy and Nayanthara in the lead roles. The film will be co-produced by Jacob Verghese, the director of superhit films Savaari and Prithvi. Jacob is also the distributor of Dhanush’s Tamil films in Karnataka. Rishi of Operation Alamelamma fame has reportedly been roped in to play the lead role in the yet-to-be named Kannada film. Rishi made his debut as an actor with Operation Alamelamma earlier this year and the film went on to become a big hit. Directed by Suni, the film had Rishi and Shraddha Srinath playing the lead roles. Bankrolled by Amrej Suryavanshi and Suni under the banners Suni Cinemas and StarFab, the film was made on a budget of Rs 1.5 crore and went on to collect Rs 10 crore at the box office. Meanwhile, Dhanush is concentrating on a slew of films including Maari 2 directed by Balaji Mohan, Enai Noki Paayum Thota by Gautham Menon, Vada Chennai by Vetrimaran and his Hollywood debut The Extraordinary Journey of the Fakir. With the foray into producing a Kannada movie, Dhanush will be setting his foot in all the four south Indian film industries. We are happy to report one such news. According to reports, Parvathy and Biju Menon will soon be working together for a film to be directed by Harikumar. Adapted from the short story Autorikshawkarante Bharya, written by M Mukundan, the film will have the script penned by the author himself. The groundwork for this project is currently happening and an official announcement regarding the film is on the cards. According to sources in the know, both the actors are busy with their own projects and are yet to give their dates. Once it is finalised, other details about the film will be revealed. Director Harikumar has been quoted by the Times of India as saying, “I have consulted both Biju Menon and Parvathy for the movie. However, we are yet to lock down their dates. Once everything is finalised, we will announce the project.” Parvathy, who has been very selective about her projects, began her career with the Malayalam film Out of Syllabus in 2006. She had acted in films such as Notebook, Bangalore Days, Flash, Ennu Ninte Moideen and Charlie in Malayalam and Male Barali Manju Irali, Prithvi and Andhar Bahar in Kannada; Poo, Chennaiyil Oru Naal, Uttama Villain in Tamil and Qarib Qarib Singlle in Hindi. She currently has a number of films in her kitty lined up for release including an Anjali Menon directorial and My Story in Mollywood and Sivaranjiniyum Innum Sila Pengalum in Tamil. Biju Menon, who will be sharing the screen space with her in the upcoming Harikumar directorial, also has a long line-up of films needing his attention, including Orayiram Kinakalal. The festivities were coming to a close and I was restively glancing at my watch as I knew I had yet to endure a four-hour drive to London. It was approaching midnight. Overdosing on coffee and chewing gum, I was anxious but at the same time excited - like a little kid waiting to open his presents on his tenth birthday.
The journey had begun as we set off on an empty M1. Sat on the back seat was the Indian actress, Pooja Bhatt, who had attended the Bite the Mango film festival at the then National Museum of Photography, Film & Television for an on-stage Screentalk interview. She had insisted...
