Jim Seals, half of the soft-rock troubadours Seals and Crofts, died Monday at the age of 80. No cause of death was announced, but Seals’ cousin Brady Seals, a country singer, confirmed the singer’s death on Facebook.
“I just learned that James ‘Jimmy’ Seals has passed,” Brady Seals wrote. “My heart just breaks for his wife Ruby and their children. Please keep them in your prayers. What an incredible legacy he leaves behind.”

Jim Seals, the singer-songwriter-guitarist who scored Top 10 pop hits with “Diamond Girl,” “Summer Breeze” and “Get Closer” as one half of the soft-rock duo Seals & Crofts, died Monday. He was 80.
His cousin, Brady Seals of the country band Little Texas, confirmed the news on social media but offered no details.
Jim Seals already was a music veteran when he teamed with longtime off-and-on bandmate Dash Crofts to form Seals & Crofts in 1969. The Texas natives had met in local bands during the 1950s, and both moved to Los Angeles to join the Champs in 1959. That group was hot off the revered No. 1 instrumental smash “Tequila,” and guitarist Glen Campbell also joined the band after that hit.
By the mid-’60s, Seals, Crofts, Campbell and another bandmate left the Champs to form the short-lived Glen Campbell and the GCs. After that group split, Seals and Crofts returned to the Lone Star State and launched a new band.

Jason Collett -- best known as a member of Broken Social Scene -- has a new album coming out in the fall, and in anticipation of that release, he's unveiled a brand-new video for the song "I Wanna Rob a Bank."
Debuting exclusively here at HuffPost Entertainment, "I Wanna Rob a Bank" doesn't play out like an ordinary music video; as directed by Corey Ogilvie, the clip includes real-life Occupy protestors as captured by Ogilvie's cameras for his "Occupy The Movie" documentary. It's an inside look at the movement, and the "I Wanna Rob a Bank" video really manages to put a face on the protest in ways that haven't been seen before. (Expect to see Ogilvie's doc in theaters by 2013 at the latest.)
"I Wanna Rob a Bank" is the first single off Reckon, which also includes appearances from Afie Jurvanen, Basia Bulat, Kevin Drew and Zeus.

Chicago – One of the best organizations in the local arts community is Women in Film Chicago. Known for their networking events, they will be highlighting three filmmakers on Monday, March 19th. The “Emerging Talent: Females in Focus” program features the short films “Fitting” (Grace McPhillips), “Off Into Space” (Anna Jung) and “Wednesday’s Child,” produced by Mary Kay Cook.

“Wednesday’s Child” is a compelling narrative piece, an example of extreme parenting taken too far. “Fitting” is a slice-of-life, set in a bridal shop during the ritualistic tailoring of the gown and bridesmaid’s dresses. The documentary short is “Off Into Space,” a story about a Chicagoan, his 15 minutes of fame and the aftermath. The program (information below) will be at the Cultural Center in downtown Chicago.

German man who returned Leslie's stolen laptop says he wasn't paid as promised.

While $1 million might sound a bit steep for a laptop, that's how much Ryan Leslie said he would pay to whomever returned his MacBook, which was stolen last year.
Armin Augstein said he returned the computer to the "Diamond Girl" singer but claims he has yet to receive the reward, so now the 52-year old German man has filed a suit in U.S. District Court in New York, the Daily News has reported.
"It's unfortunate that my client has to go to such lengths to recover the reward," Michael Fischman, Augstein's U.S.-based lawyer, told the paper.
MTV News reached out to Leslie's rep for comment, but haven't heard back as of press time.

Neil Diamond turns 70 today, and even though the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee seems to have deserted us on Twitter — his last tweet was on New Year’s Eve and linked to funny animal voiceovers — we’re still going to celebrate him. We can’t write “Happy Birthday Neil Diamond!” in the sky like someone did Sunday over the Bel-Air hills, but perhaps we can take a moment to each write a sentence describing our love for the man. I’ll give you a few ideas:
• My key chain is a silver guitar with the words “Neil Diamond World Tour 2008″ on it.

Even though Ryan Leslie's computer, which housed many of his creative projects, was recently swiped, the producer/singer remains undaunted as he records his upcoming album.
The "Diamond Girl" crooner Skyped into Lloyd Banks' "RapFix Live" sit-down Thursday (November 11) live from Munich and caught up with MTV News' Sway and the G-Unit soldier, whom he worked with on Banks' Hunger for More 2 cut "So Forgetful." He also chopped it up about the hefty reward he's ready to dole out to whoever can recover his laptop.

Paul MacInnes tuned in at 12:15pm to watch classic 1972 upside-down-ocean-liner drama The Poseidon Adventure. It was a grand end to our week of liveblogging films from the TV. See what happened here
2.24pm: "If you're a blogger and you've been watching with us this week, it's been lovely Channel Four". I don't think that was delivered quite as it was intended. But thanks! We lovely you too!
Conclusions: This film is terrible. High concept, tedious execution, with bizarre relgious allegory layered on top for good measure. At least it was absolutely jam-packed with Seventies cliches - like sexual exploitation and shouting.
It's been an absolute pleasure to share this movie with you. Let's do it again some time!
2.21pm: One last shot of Susan and Nonnie (Hippy's) thighs, and we're free!
Final survivor count (unless the chopper blows up unexpectedly): Borgnine, Susan, Nonny, Mr Rosen, Cagoule Kid, and Mr Red Buttons.

Singer/songwriter delivers passionate set at Bowery Ballroom.

New York — Ryan Leslie declared his independence in a big way Tuesday night, when the singer/songwriter performed to a packed house at Manhattan's Bowery Ballroom on the first of a two-night residency.
Leslie recently parted ways with his label, Universal Motown, after releasing his self-titled debut and last year's Transition. But as he sets out on his own, this performance proved a worthy showcase for the talented star's range of skill, as a singer, producer and composer.
"This here is about one of my favorite holidays," he said, moving behind the keyboard to deliver a pleasing talk-box-aided vocal homage to Zapp and Roger's "I Want to Be Your Man" before segueing into "Valentine."
"I don't have to say that you're beautiful," Leslie sang in a falsetto tone. "You've got plenty...

Maroon 5's frontman Adam Levine and singer/rapper Ryan Leslie stunned New York City club goers during a recent night out, after reportedly teaming up to woo their model girlfriends with a public serenade. Leslie's Australian partner Nicole Trunfio and Levine's rumored love interest Anne Vyalitsyna both celebrated their 24th birthdays this week with a night out at Manhattan hotspot Sl.
According to the New York Post, the singers weren't shy about showcasing their affection in full view of other patrons. A source says, "Ryan first started singing his 'Diamond Girl' to Nicole, which led to Adam singing one of his songs to Anne. It was cute."
Adam Levine first sparked rumor that he has a fling with Anne Vyalitsyna after the two were spotted getting cozy at a Las Vegas nightclub in February. A source also revealed that they are "officially dating."...

Multi-talented musician Ryan Leslie rocked out a special concert in support of the release of his new album Transition at the Nokia Theater in New York City on Friday night (November 6). Leslie had the rabid crowd rapt all night with a combination of strong vocals and a daring sense of theatricality.
Leslie kicked his set off with a bang, as he appeared through a cloud of smoke inside a huge clear box. "They try to box me in," he proclaimed as he quickly jumped out of the box and off of the stage. The crowd was slightly confused about why the singer left the stage, but eventually they realized that the man in the box was not Ryan. The real R Les had entered the room from the back, worked his way to the front with the help of a few huge security guards and created an unforgettable entrance.
