Simply-a masterpiece

"The Moon of Seoul" isn't atypical of the K-dramas of the mid 90's in terms of style and execution. However, great writing and great acting makes it a masterpiece. Hong Shik is a small time charming crook and Chun Sub is a stout country boy with a heart of gold. They're old friends from the country side-this was a recurring theme in Korean dramas at the time, country boy or girl comes to the city for better opportunities. Hong Shik and Chun Sub become roommates after Hong Shik swindles money out of Chun Sub and the adventures begin when they meet the beautiful girl next door; and their poor, hapless, lazy, foolish neighbors of course makes the adventure even more worthwhile. Aside from the three main cast, all the actors and actresses in this drama were excellent and full of character and very realistic in their portrayal of everyday people. They maybe dirt poor but they have a sense of loyalty, kinship and warmth and this is what is lacking in today's Korean dramas.
