98 years walking on this earth and over 70 of those working in the industry that he and we all love. How do you talk about a man who had his hands in everything and gave us so much? He was an honorary Oscar winner and heavily involved in the Academy itself. He gave us New Concorde and New World Pictures. Roger Corman was a master of the independent and low budget film and known lovingly as the King of Cult. He gave countless actors, writers, and directors their start and was still making appearances right up to his passing. Theres so much to go over but I think that the best way to honor the man is to bring this video in on time and underbudget, bonus Corman points if we can re-use some of the footage from this one in another one of our videos. I cant see a more...

The Golden Horse Film Festival, which operates the premier awards in the Chinese-language film industry, has teamed up with Cannes’ Marché du Film to showcase a handful of new films and projects under the banner Golden Horse Goes to Cannes.
To be presented May 16, the five films comprise new works from directors Chen Yu-hsun, Yang Ya-che, Huang Xi, Giddens Ko and John Hsu, with such high-profile producers as Lee Lieh, Sylvia Chang, Aileen Li, Jeffrey Chan and Hou Hsiao-hsien.
Yang Ya-che, known for Golden Horse-winning “The Bold, the Corrupt and the Beautiful,” and for shaping the careers of several actors, returns behind the camera with “The Chronicles of Libidoists.”
It was a standout at the Golden Horse project market, while at the production stage, the scandalous nature of its erotic take on “The Little Mermaid” tale meant that the names of the cast had to be kept secret.

There have been no shortage of camp slashers over the past 40 years. Even films that aren’t called Friday the 13th have tapped into the zeitgeist and delivered horror in a setting that is supposed to be all about fun. From Sleepaway Camp to The Burning to You Might Be the Killer, if there is one thing that we know as horror nerds, it’s that bad things happen at camp, and you should steer clear.
This is most definitely the case with Thomas Walton’s new camp-based slasher Camp Pleasant Lake. It’s a film that seems to try to reinvent the camp slasher film, but doesn’t really succeed in filling it with life. It tries to do several things, in fact, and doesn’t really succeed in any of them.
But let’s start at the beginning. The Very beginning. 20 years ago, in the midst of their parents’ divorce,...

The classless practice of traumatic profiteering is alive and well in Thomas Walton’s micro-budget slasher Camp Pleasant Lake. We’ve become a society obsessed with gnarly true crime documentaries and podcasts, lifting infamous serial killers to celebrity status. As superfans once wrote letters to Charles Manson in prison, studios now churn out streaming programs about despicable icons like Bundy and Dahmer to capitalize on trending viewership. Camp Pleasant Lake is an intriguing commentary on selling someone else’s grief and loss for your next payday, but at no point does Walton’s execution do his “Horror LARPing” concept justice.
The film takes place at Camp Echo Lake, where new owners Rick (Michael Paré) and Darlene Rutherford (Maritza Brikisak) have reopened as an immersive Halloween experience. For $10,000, attendees are treated to “Camp of Terror,” an all-inclusive murder party that ties back to a horrible crime committed on the grounds 20 years prior.

It’s been five years since the last installment of The Terror, but season 3 is finally on the way.
AMC has ordered The Terror: Devil in Silver, a six-part series based on the novel written by Victor Lavalle. The story follows Pepper, “a working-class moving man who, through a combination of bad luck and a bad temper, finds himself wrongfully committed to New Hyde Psychiatric Hospital – an institution filled with the people society would rather forget. There, he must contend with patients who work against him, doctors who harbor grim secrets and perhaps even the very devil himself. As Pepper navigates a hellscape where nothing is as it seems, he finds that the only path to freedom is to face down the entity that thrives on the suffering within New Hyde’s walls. But doing so might prove that the worst demons of all live inside him.“

Disney's Tower of Terror has always felt like a thrilling outlier at any Disney park. Opened in Florida in 1994, the "Twilight Zone"-inspired thrill ride was always a little scarier than the rest of the Mouse House's family-friendly theme park attractions -- in a good way.
California's Tower of Terror may have had its last ride, but the attraction remains a landmark of Disney parks across the world, with additional versions in Tokyo and Paris. As with any Disney ride, a whole lot of thought went into the original planning of the attraction, and in the case of Tower of Terror, Imagineers were actually required to become classic TV binge-watchers. According to the official D23 website, everyone who helped design the Tower of Terror watched all 156 episodes of Rod Serling's seminal anthology series at least twice.

Hitting the streamer tomorrow are both Lamberto Bava‘s Evil Dead-esque splatter classics Demons and Demons 2!
In Demons, a large group of people invited to attend a screening of a mysterious horror movie quickly find themselves living in one when locked inside with ravenous demons.
“A rocking soundtrack, ’80s energy, and a lot of gruesome demonic fun under Lamberto Bava’s direction makes for one hell of a good time at the movies,” Bd’s Meagan Navarro wrote about this cult classic. “They will make cemeteries their cathedrals, and the cities will be your tombs. Found footage films are usually at their best when they keep the authenticity high and the complexity low, with the best of the best found footage movies favoring chilling simplicity above all else. The Blair Witch Project and Paranormal Activity are two of the all-time greats for a reason, both stripped down, low-budget found footage efforts that still terrify to this day.
Filmmaker Dutch Marich has been tapping into those vibes with his own bone chilling found footage franchise, which kicked off with Horror in the High Desert in 2021 and now continues this year with sequel Horror in the High Desert 2: Minerva. The unsettling found footage franchise delves into mysterious disappearances in the Nevada wilderness.

Alongside the 25th Anniversary Update released last week for Half-Life, Valve also gave Counter-Strike a fresh coat of paint with its own update. Who on earth would want to release a horror movie in November?! That’s like showing up to Thanksgiving dinner on a full stomach or going for a jog after a marathon. Surely, studios don’t purposefully plan to release their movie during the four weeks After the entire world is consumed with the dead, dying, maimed and dismembered, right? The calendar says spooky season is over (although you and I know differently) and as the grumpy neighbor in Halloween II says, the general audience has “been trick or treated to death” by October’s end.
On the contrary, November Horror has had some shockingly great runs over the years. And maybe there’s a method to the madness. If horror fans are lucky, October is packed tighter than a Black Friday sale at Target during a live in store Taylor Swift performance. Why not wait a couple of weeks...

Manhwa, the general Korean term for comics, has existed since the 1970s. During the 1990s, when the ban on Japanese media was lifted, Korean comics became influenced by Japanese art style and storytelling to reach their current iteration. Undeniably, Japanese manga and Korean manhwa have a lot in common stylistically and narratively, and each has its rabid fanbase. The popularity of manhwa has been on a steady incline, mainly due to WebToon, a company started in 2004 by Naver Corporation that hosts a vast majority of the popular titles.
As a manga diehard, I was initially hesitant to approach manhwa, particularly with a preference for physical media. But with publishers' efforts to bring titles to print, I found myself attracted to the format both on and off the page. Still, it can be somewhat intimidating to approach, given the abundant amount of content out there.

Wolf Like Me creator Abe Forsythe’s date didn’t transform into a werewolf on that fateful “full moon” night they spent together.

Set in Australia, widower and single dad Gary (Josh Gad) meets Mary (Isla Fisher) by chance. Not only is Gary taken with Mary, but his daughter, Emma, is as well.

The first week of October is officially here, so it’s full steam ahead on the Halloween season from here on out. This week’s streaming picks embrace spooky season festivities by centering on holiday-themed horror movies that feature Halloween parties as their slaying grounds.
Some of these horror movies bring the fun, while others aim to spike your adrenaline. But all use Halloween parties as a centerpiece for the horror that’s unleashed within.
Here’s where you can stream them this week.

Cemetery of Terror – AMC+, Shudder
Rubén Galindo Jr.’s most prominent horror feature is the American-influenced Don’t Panic (available on Shudder), but the Halloween-centric Cemetery of Terror offers the most fun. A trio of college kids decides to impress their ladies by stealing a body from a morgue for a Halloween prank and party in an abandoned house.

Waking Nightmare begins appropriately enough with Jordan waking up screaming from a nightmare. This has been a regular occurrence since her best friend Jamie killed herself. It’s gotten bad enough that she’s moved back home with her parents Danielle and Jeff.
A visit from her best friend Zoey seems to cheer her up, but that night her nightmares turn into sleepwalking, and while doing that she pulls a knife on her mother. This gets her an appointment with Dr. Doolin who gives her a prescription for Ambien.
The Ambien doesn’t make her start posting racist comments on Twitter, but it doesn’t stop her sleepwalking either. In fact, she ends up walking out of the house...

By any measure, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds had a brilliant debut season, winning the hearts and sparking the imaginations of Trek fans, old and new.
Some of the intense anticipation for Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 2 can be credited to its role as a prequel series, introducing the proto-tos versions of canon characters, Spock, Uhura, and Kirk.
Additionally, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 1 did a stellar job of introducing new characters like Melissa Navia's Erica Ortegas, the Enterprise's pilot and resident shoot-from-the-hip quipster.
In preparation for the Season 2 premiere this Thursday, TV Fanatic recently sat in for online roundtable interviews with several of the show's delightful cast members - Ethan Peck (Spock), Paul Wesley (James T. Kirk), Melissa Navia (Erica Ortegas), and Celia Rose Gooding (Nyota Uhura).
As expected, Peck and Wesley fielded a plethora of questions about reuniting Spock and Kirk onscreen.

Cosmic horror seems to be having a bit of a moment in the last few years with productions such as Colour out of Space, Mandy, and Annihilation giving audiences feature-length thrills and the likes of Alex Fofonoff’s While Mortals Sleep and Ryan Mackfall’s Backwoods making waves in the short film world. The attraction to stories about the fear of the unknown is rife. This trend continues with Giles Buchanan’s short cliffside thriller Terror, which sees a lone survivor of a mountain climbing accident recall the supernatural occurrence that led to devastating consequences. Buchanan’s short is a terrific example of how editing can be used to maximise tension and it features some truly impressive alpine cinematography. As Terror embarks on its festival run, Dn joined Buchanan for a conversation where he reveals the challenging and lengthy process of getting the film made, talking about everything from preparing...

This weekend Screambox celebrates Earth Day with James Nguyen‘s authentically so-bad-it’s-good Birdemic: Shock and Terror, which is easily one of the best-worst movies ever made, as well as its sequels Birdemic 2 and the festival favorite Birdemic 3: Sea Eagle, which blew the roof off last year’s Fantastic Fest.
The first Birdemic was acquired out of a hilariously legendary screening in Park City, Utah during the Sundance Film Festival by Severin Films. It’s so raw, authentic, and comically terrible that it’s infinitely rewatchable. It also boasts the acting debut of Bloody Disgusting family member Whitney Moore, who has appeared in several horror films over the years and has become a well-known host in the metal and movie community.
All three films are now streaming on our Screambox platform!

"I'm gonna prove that there's a ghost here – a real one." Terror Films has released a new US trailer for an indie horror comedy titled Followers, marking the feature directorial debut of filmmaker Marcus Harben. After premiering at FrightFest in 2021, it's finally getting a VOD release in the US this spring. From the producers of Anna and the Apocalypse and Monsters, and in the tradition of Get Out and ‘"Black Mirror’", Terror Films' Followers combines horror with black comedy to satirize today's influencer generation while bringing a fresh new spin to the found-footage horror genre. What starts as hilariously bad YouTube videos develops into a warning to the world about a shocking new strain of supernatural serial killer. To create an authentic found footage feel, over 70% of Followers was filmed by the actors themselves. This stars Harry Jarvis (seen in Netflix's Knight Before Christmas), Loreece Harrison, Erin Austen, Daniel Cahill,...

What makes Franco-era Spanish horror so horrible? The unnecessary cruelty and emphatic nastiness, a combination that’s led to more than a few essays about political repression. Narciso Ibáñez Serrador’s shocker puts psycho headmistress Lilli Palmer in charge of a twisted girl’s boarding school. Get ready for ice-cold Women-In-Prison intrigues, with macabre carnage for a chaser. Arrow Video’s pristine new encoding is already being applauded — it far surpasses edited, color-challenged older releases, revealing a beautifully-produced thriller with fine lighting cinematography.

After premiering last year at Fantastic Fest, Birdemic 3: Sea Eagle, the third film in James Nguyen‘s authentic so-bad-it’s-good franchise, arrives on VOD platforms tomorrow!
In the latest from Severin Films, the birds are back, and global warming has them roiled!
“When global warming triggers climate chaos along the Northern California coast, two scientific researchers will discover tender romance, awkward dancing, overly earnest moralizing, appalling CGI, automatic weapons, and a plague of attacks by sea eagles that could lead to the extinction of life on earth. Or as one character wisely proclaims in this conclusion of Nguyen’s immortal cinematic vision, ‘We have to accept our fate. It is death.'”

Since I’m on holidays, let’s look at a mode of transport I won’t be using this year: The Terror at 37,000 Feet (1973), which fits snugly in the ‘70s Disaster Sweepstakes, television division. A star-studded goof fest, it’s a fun destination vacation; or at the very least a pleasant diversion with a solid supernatural bent.
Disaster movies were all the rage; Airport (1970), The Poseidon Adventure (‘72), Earthquake (’74) and many more kept people lined up at the box office. But what about those staring intently at their little boxes at home? TV always reflected what was happening on the big screen, and Terror loads its craft with as many of the tropes as possible.
Originally broadcast on Tuesday, February 13th as part of The New CBS Tuesday Night Movies, Terror’s competition was movies from the other two networks; Tuesday’s were not exactly prime Prime Time.

The Terror Season 2 Episode 2
Two episodes in, The Terror: Infamy is a completely different beast than its predecessor, tackling a horrific moment in American history that makes last year's cannibalism-themed massacre on ice feel almost tame in comparison. While the men of Captain Sir John Franklin's doomed expedition to the Arctic found solace in simple pleasures (mostly from a bottle), the Japanese residents of San Pedro enjoy no such comforts in "All the Demons Are Still in Hell." Over the course of the hour, we watch the Nakayamas, their friends, and acquaintances get displaced from their homes, forced to live in shit-covered horse stalls by order of the U.S. government, and then moved to a concentration camp. Japanese men are tortured and killed,...

“The Terror: Infamy” didn’t need ghosts to be frightening. Alexander Woo and Max Borenstein’s new iteration of the “Terror” series, both thanks to its subject matter and supernatural apparitions lurking at the edges, is permeated by an ever-creeping sense of dread that proves undeniable. Tracing the needless devastation of Japanese-American internment during World War II, the second installment of AMC’s anthology series is straightforward about the human cost of racist paranoia. Even when “Infamy” is blunt, it’s understandable; it’s not exactly like the horrific reality that inspired it was subtle, either.
By largely following a single family, “Infamy” also finds a way to make a staggering historical event that can sometimes feel too big to comprehend feel as personal as it truly was. After immigrating to San Francisco from Japan, Henry (Shingo Usami) and Asako (Naoko Mori) have built a life for themselves and their...

The Criterion Channel, the streaming service that is bringing classic films back online after the widely lamented shutdown last fall of WarnerMedia’s FilmStruck, has set the lineup for its launch on April 8. (See it below.)
The channel features the same Criterion Collection and Janus Films titles that were on FilmStruck, which went dark last fall, prompting a backlash among a long list of A-list directors, not to mention thousands of fans of the service. FilmStruck had been an effort to take the DNA of Turner Classic Movies into the streaming realm, with hundreds of Criterion titles at its core. Original programming from FilmStruck will also be back on the new channel, including Adventures in Moviegoing, Meet the Filmmakers, Observations on Film Art and 10 seasons of John Pierson’s Split Screen.

After debuting at the Sundance Film Festival later this month, Dan Reed’s just-announced Michael Jackson documentary “Leaving Neverland” has locked a spring broadcast date with HBO and Channel 4. The four-hour-long project was a late addition to the festival, which only announced its inclusion yesterday afternoon. The cable outlets co-produced the documentary from the award-winning filmmaker behind HBO’s own “Terror” series, and it’s been billed as a series told in a pair of two-hour segments, not one four-hour-long feature film.
The project centers on “two men who recount their experiences of being sexually abused by Michael Jackson.” After the project was added to the festival lineup, the Estate of Michael Jackson released a statement that read, in part, “This is yet another lurid production in an outrageous and pathetic attempt to exploit and cash in on Michael Jackson. … This so-called ‘documentary’ is just another rehash of dated and discredited allegations.

The Sundance Film Festival has added the world premiere of the documentary “Leaving Neverland,” which focuses on sexual abuse allegations against the late pop star Michael Jackson.
The movie, produced and directed by Dan Reed, describes how Jackson allegedly began long-running relationships with two boys, aged 7 and 10, and their families while at the peak of his fame. The two, now in their 30s, claim that they were sexually abused by Jackson, and reveal how they came to terms with it years later.
Representatives for the Jackson estate issued a one-sentence statement in response to Wednesday’s announcement: “This is yet another lurid production in an outrageous and pathetic attempt to exploit and cash in on Michael Jackson.”
“Neverland” refers to the Neverland Ranch in Santa Barbara County, Calif., where Jackson lived between 1988 and 2003. The property was raided by law enforcement in 2003 in connection with molestation accusations against Jackson by a 13-year-old boy.

Adam Nagaitis, who recently earned rave reviews as the villainous Cornelius Hickey on AMC’s “The Terror,” has joined the ensemble of the HBO limited series “Chernobyl.”
Jessie Buckley, Adrian Rawlins, and Con O’Neill have also joined Stellan Skarsgard, Emily Watson, and Nagaitis’ “Terror” co-star Jared Harris, who had been previously announced.
Production on the series began last month in Lithuania. The show will debut on HBO in the U.S. and on Sky Atlantic in various territories, as well as on their streaming service Now TV.
Penned by Craig Mazin, the five-part miniseries dramatizes the true story of one of the worst man-made catastrophes in history — the April 26, 1986, explosion at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant in then-Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic — and follows the brave men and women who sacrificed to save Europe from unimaginable disaster.
The series is produced by Sister Pictures and the Mighty Mint as an HBO/Sky Television co-production.
