- Dean Alioto's director's cut runs a little over 91 minutes. This version was distributed on video in Europe. The full cut puts Tommy's encounter with an alien around the film's middle and ends with Rosie letting three aliens into the house who then hypnotize and abduct the remaining family members.
- The version which aired on UPN was cut down to 44 minutes and includes additional fake interviews from UFO enthusiasts to make it seem more like a documentary than a found footage movie, though the actors were still listed in the credits. This cut places Tommy's testimonial at the end, after which he is entranced by an alien hiding in his room, then the film suddenly stops. This version is notable for its added musical score and sensationalist narration, a timer on the screen's bottom (that at times doesn't line up with the shown events) as well as some extra special effects.
- An extended cut aired on UPN shortly after the original broadcast, containing the extra footage and alternate ending of the director's cut, and the fake "expert" interviews from the original TV broadcast.
