As explained on their website, Broken Lizard is a five-person comedy filmmaking group “devoted to intense sunshine, Floridian deep tissue massage, and the advanced study of keeping it realism.” The quintet is most famous for “Super Troopers” but has also made comedies like “Beerfest,” “Club Dread,” “The Slammin’ Salmon,” and “Puddle Cruiser.”

Seventeen years after the original “Super Troopers,” the sequel is arriving in theaters with a massive assist from fans of the wacky police comedy.
“I’ve been on a 17-city tour for the fan screenings, and we’ve been going out to party and I’ve been performing stand-up between the screenings, so it’s been a busy time,” director Jay Chandrasekhar told Variety.
“At one point in Vancouver, we walked into a bar and there were 10 guys dressed like us in state trooper gear,” he recalled. “There’s a level of fan interest that’s very gratifying.”
“Super Troopers 2” begins opening Thursday night in North America in previews and expands to 2,040 locations Friday. The film reunites all five Troopers from the original film — Chandrasekhar, Kevin Heffernan, Steve Lemme, Paul Soter and Erik Stolhanske — collectively known as Broken Lizard. Every generation gets, or maybe chooses, the nostalgia it deserves. Boomer nostalgia is famously self-important, all about big stuff like the Beatles and Watergate and, you know, how we changed the world! It took a while, on the other hand, for Gen-x nostalgia to come into focus — and when it did, it was less with a bang of proud importance than with a snarky whimper of ironic junkiness. “Super Troopers 2” is an aggressively lame and slobby comedy full of cardboard characters and in-your-face naughty jokes that feel about as dangerous as old vaudeville routines. Yet if you watch it and think, “Wow, this sure is cheesy and dumb,” you’ve just paid the people who made it a compliment. In “Super Troopers 2,” they’re doing all they can to revive the feeling they had when they were smart kids watching dumb movies that they believed, at the time,...

In 2001, the Broken Lizard comedy troupe wrote and starred in the comedy “Super Troopers” about five goofball Vermont state troopers who are forced to save their jobs by actually solving a crime instead of pulling pranks all day. The film was a moderate box office success and was a hit on home video, and in the past 15 years, it has become a cult classic. Now, the long-awaited sequel has started filming, confirmed by the Broken Lizard Facebook page with the cheeky comment: “Action, chickenf**kers: back on set and we just the first new scene of #SuperTroopers2.” Check out the photo below.

The outlandish American comedy troupe Broken Lizard has been making movies since 1996.s college laffer Puddle Cruiser. But their 2001 cop comedy Super Troopers is by far their most popular, having been accepted as a contemporary cult classic. Group members Jay Chandrasekhar, Kevin Heffernan, Steve Lemme, Paul Soter, and Erik Stolhanske get asked about the possibility of a Super Troopers sequel at just about every opportunity. The latest of these occurred in an interview on John Canzano.s radio show Bald Faced Truth this past Friday, where two of the crew were promoting their live comedy show tour. Lemme and Heffernan, who played Mac and Farva in the first film, not only confirmed plans for a sequel, but also promised it.s coming soon: .There is, there is going to be a sequel. It.s actually happening right now. We just sealed the deal with Fox, who owns the rights. The...

Chicago – The comedy troupe Broken Lizard conquered the film world with their first feature, “Super Troopers” in 2001. Over the next decade, they followed up with the popular “Club Dread” (2004) and “Beerfest” (2008). Broken Lizard performers Kevin Heffernan and Jay Chandrasekhar (who also directs) go domestic in the new film “The Babymakers.”
This latest release features Heffernan and Chandrasekhar in supporting roles, with Paul Schneider and Olivia Munn playing a couple trying to breed, but finding too many obstacles along the way. The solution? Break into a sperm bank where Schneider’s character made some deposits, and withdraw his specimen to save the day. Part heist film, part upper middle class fantasy, the Broken Lizard members add their own quirky sensibility to the mix of this high concept comedy.

Late last year a promo trailer surfaced for the new comedy from Broken Lizard called Babymakers from troupe member and director Jay Chandrasekhar, but the video was quickly taken down. Now the official trailer has arrived with Olivia Munn ("Perfect Couples")and Paul Schneider ("Parks & Recreation") playing Audrey and Tommy, a couple unable to conceive a child with Tommy shooting blanks in the bedroom. So obviously, the best plan of attack is to have Tommy's friends rob a sperm bank where he made a deposit years ago in order to make things right. Does hilarity ensue? See for yourself by watching below. Here's the first trailer for Jay Chandrasekhar Babymakers in HD from Apple: The Babymakers is directed by Broken Lizard filmmaker Jay Chandrasekhar, who directed the films Puddle Cruiser, Super Troopers, Club Dread, The Dukes of Hazzard and Beerfest previously. The screenplay was co-written by Peter Gaulke (of "SNL...

If you haven’t seen Super Troopers, Club Dread or Beerfest, you’re probably not familiar with the comedy troupe known as Broken Lizard. Since their college days, Jay Chandrasekhar (Director, Dukes of Hazzard), Kevin Heffernan, Stephen Lemme, Paul Soter and Erik Stolhanske have been making people laugh and sometimes, making a movie or two. I first became familiar with their work when a colleague told me to check out Super Troopers.
I scoffed. It sounded stupid. Then, late one night on cable, Super Troopers was on, so I gave it a chance. I was right. It was stupid. It was also one of the funniest little films I’d seen in a very long time. After drinking the Kool Aid and becoming a member of the Broken Lizard fan club, I scoured the internet to find a copy of their first film, Puddle Cruiser. On some crappy website where...

The Slamdance competition is open only to under-$1 million budgeted films from first-time filmmakers and runs at the same time as Sundance (in Utah) to show a more truer "independent" film style. This year they've got some great looking films, including a sweet looking vampire flick which has the Karate Kid Ralph Macchio himself, Rosencantz and Guildenstern are Undead. I Sell the Dead which was well received at Tad will be opening the fest. Also playing will be The Broken Lizard's latest film The Slammin' Salmon, and Mum and Dad.
