The "Last Jedi" roving mini vacuum depicts the image of Darth Vader.

A couple of years ago I was in London to attend the royal premiere of "Spectre". While inside a Boots pharmacy, I came upon the official Gillette "Spectre" electric razor, which was amusing since there isn't a any reference or scene in the film relating to said razor. The box was also devoid of any imagery from the film except for the logo. I thought at the time that the obsession with manufacturers to tie their products to a hot movie franchise has reached an extreme. The release of "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" only reinforces that belief- and I'm not alone. As Variety writer Matt Fernandez points out in a recent article, the products licensed to tie-in to the film are as surrealistic as any space alien seen in the franchise. Do people really...

2017-10-23T07:35:16-07:00'Walking Dead' Review: All-Out War Begins with Badly Aimed Bang
In a sign that season 8 of The Walking Dead might be the same kind of drawn-out affair that the past couple of seasons have been, this week's season premiere got the promised all-out war started in a stuttering, logically problematic way. Could we be facing another season where a simple goal eludes the show's characters for episode after interminable episode? Forbes' Erik Kain fears that might be the case. Read on, but beware the spoilers.
Via Forbes.
There's a moment in the Season 8 premiere of The Walking Dead that transformed a reasonably decent season opener into an hour of television I wanted to smash to pieces with Lucille.
The members of Hilltop, Alexandria and the Kingdom, have all come together to bring the war to Negan's doorstep. That's not figurative, either.

John Boyega, who shot to fame with his role as defector Storm Trooper Finn in “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” minces no words when discussing Hollywood’s race problem.
“There are no black people on ‘Game of Thrones.’ You don’t see one black person in ‘Lord of the Rings,'” Boyega said in a recent interview with GQ. “I ain’t paying money to always see one type of person on-screen. Because you see different people from different backgrounds, different cultures, every day. Even if you’re a racist, you have to live with that. We can ruffle up some feathers.”
Much has been made of the racial politics of “Game of Thrones” following controversy around this week’s announcement of “Confederate,” the next project from creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss.

It’s one of Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley’s most famous moments in their nine years as Cma Awards co-hosts: the time, in 2014, when Paisley told the world that Underwood, who was five months pregnant, would be having a baby boy.
But on Saturday, at a special Cma Festival event, Underwood revealed she was adamantly against the idea at first.
She and her husband, Mike Fisher, “try to keep certain things for ourselves,” she explained, “and that was kind of one of them.”
But after executive producer Robert Deaton resorted to what he described as “begging,” Underwood finally relented...

Disclaimer: While there are facts here, the majority of this piece is based on rumor and our interpretation of it. However, be warned and take heed as there could be major spoilers abound.
In Star Wars: The Force Awakens we met a very interesting character, one that I was not expecting to play such a crucial role in the film. That would be Finn played by John Boyega. Not only was he a simple Storm Trooper, that we have seen versions of on the big screen for 30+ years, but he actually betrayed the First Order to become a pivotal hero in the film.
Thanks to the sharp eyes at makingstarwars.net, they discovered a few weeks ago that he will actually be wearing a First Order Officer's uniform. He will go on board a particular First Order space craft (more on that ship later), Tom Hardy will give him a Major League Baseball buttslap,...

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story marks the 8th time a Star Wars film has hit the big screen. As we hit the 40th anniversary of the first cinematic excursion into George Lucas’ multi-media sci-fi universe, here are eight questions that have not been answered in any of the previous films.
It was 40 years ago that Star Wars: A New Hope burst onto screens and changed sci-fi cinema forever. (I was there, opening week in 1977) Star Wars has since expanded beyond anyone’s expectations and given us some great (and some not-so-great) films. But in its wake, it’s left some things unanswered.
1) The Droids and Memory: There seems to be some confusion over who the droids remember, and who remembers the droids. First of all, C3PO’s memory bank was wiped at the end of Revenge of the Sith but not R2’s. So does R2 know who...

This Story Has Been Updated With Craig's Comments About The Bourne Films.
By Lee Pfeiffer
Last evening Daniel Craig took to the stage for a 90 minute interview as part of the New Yorker Festival, sponsored by the legendary magazine. The interview took place at New York's School Visual Arts. Craig, who is not known to be enamored of engaging in interviews, was clearly in a feisty and humorous mood and attributed his presence at the event as a sign of his long-standing respect for the New Yorker magazine. The wide-ranging discussion covered a multitude of topics with the predominant subject unsurprisingly being James Bond. Craig was sporting a bleached blonde crew cut for a forthcoming role that made him bare a resemblance to the legendary Bond villain Red Grant, played memorably by Robert Shaw in "From Russia With Love". He was dressed casually in jeans, sneakers and a leather jacket...

Sometimes being an adult sucks. Don’t get me wrong, a lot of the time it’s just like being a kid with a beard and a legit ID, but sometimes — and especially when you have children — it means not having the time to catch the latest Star Wars movie in theaters. That movie you’d been geeking out all over for several years? Yeah, maybe your kid will get sick, who will then get your wife sick, and your wife will then get you sick. Then it’s quite possible that, living in close quarters, the three of you will just continue to pass this sickness back and forth for months. That happens, you know. And because of this, I was unable to see Star Wars: The Force Awakens upon its theatrical release. So when I learned that yes, I would be receiving a copy of the Blu-ray release of the film to review,...

Probably the single most common complaint about J.J. Abrams' "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" was that the film simply felt too familiar, a movie that essentially re-used the template of the original 'A New Hope' even as it introduced some very well-regarded new characters and re-introduced some classic old ones.
Speaking with THR, Abrams has now addressed those rehash complaints saying that the formula was one used long before George Lucas' original came along and so it is derivative in every way that the original "Star Wars" was:
"It was obviously a wildly intentional thing that we go backwards, in some ways, to go forwards in the important ways, given that this is a genre - that Star Wars is a kind of specific gorgeous concoction of George [Lucas]'s - that combines all sorts of things.
Ultimately the structure of Star Wars itself is as classic...

Thank you, Star Wars.
Thank you for taking nearly everything great about A New Hope and using it to create something both post-modern and inherently original in its own right.
Thank you for giving us villains who act as villains; not in service to pure chaos alone, but to greed, hatred, and layers of inner conflict.
Thank you for giving us heroes who earn their heroism; not in service to the plot, but in service to their (and our) conscience.

For the people who think that the Star Wars prequels were the low point in the franchise history, you’re wrong. There was something worse. Cinelinx looks back at the project George Lucas wishes he’d never approved of…The Star Wars Holiday Special!
When watching the 1978 Star Wars Holiday Special, the first thing that comes to mind is “Huh? What did I just watch?” This 90 minute special has achieved a status of infamy in its sheer terribleness. It was such an awful piece of junk that it’s never been re-aired even once in 37 years. It was voted as one of the Most Embarrassing Moments in Television History. It was about this project that George Lucas—the guy who defends The Phantom Menace—made the comment “If I had the time and a sledge hammer, I’d go around destroying every copy!” To sum up…It’s bad!

Merry Christmas, Han Solo! In honor of Star Wars: The Force Awakens and the holiday season, we decided what better way to celebrate with the movie's cast than to give them some early Christmas presents. And what better way to do than with Star Wars-themed gifts. Ok, Santa's budget wasn't too high so we asked his elves to stretch our limited funds. First impressions are everything in wrestling. Because even people who spend a solid chunk of their time rooting for fictitious characters to be powerbombed through tables have integrity, dammit! And spitting in the face of that integrity is a cardinal sin.
And even though we, as wrestling fans, have endured some of the stupidest gimmicks to ever be assembled in a brainstorming word cloud and still decided to come back for more, that doesn’t mean we have to just accept whatever is put in front of us. Especially when what’s been put in front of us is wearing a bedazzled Storm Trooper mask and a fuzzy vest.
Some of these characters were able to thrive despite their terrible introductions to wrestling fans, while others may have prospered if they’d only been given a second chance. But they didn’t. So they are doomed to live...

"We could show you two hours of a monkey washing a cat and you'd still go see this movie...twice." Have any truer words ever been spoken about Star Wars: The Force Awakens? Possibly, but we can't think of them. The much-anticipated flick is finally hitting theaters next month, and the hype is real. So real that seemingly innocent fans have been emptying their bank accounts and their vacation days in preparation. Star Wars followers have bought theater tickets, bobble-heads, movie posters and pretty much anything you could think of to sell on E-Bay that's slightly related to a Storm Trooper. One of the biggest announcements of the D23 Interactive panel was the announcement of a Special Edition Darth Vader Playstation 4 for Star Wars Battlefront!
During D23 Interactive, the developers of Star Wars: Battlefront wanted to give us a sneak peek at some of the gameplay they've been working on months before the games out. If anticipation for this year's Comic-Con had a soundtrack, it would be John Williams' instantly recognizable, Oscar-winning Star Wars theme.
The latest take on the beloved space opera was top of mind for fans Wednesday night as the annual pop-culture convention opened for a preview of its colorful showroom floor. Comic-Con officially begins Thursday.
"Everyone loves Star Wars," said Kristen McLaughlin of Los Angeles. The 23-year-old, wearing a Captain America costume, said she plans to spend Thursday night waiting in line for Lucasfilm's Friday afternoon presentation on Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
More than 130,000 fans are expected at the San Diego Convention Center over the next four days for autograph signings, TV and film presentations, toy shopping, costume contests and other artistic engagements inspired by comic books and superheroes.
Star Wars has a major presence in the massive showroom, with a mini-mall of booths dedicated to its characters.
