A kangaroo wants his son to be a boxing kangaroo, but the youngster wants to play the violin. he father tells him that the boxing venue is a concert hall and the kid goes on to a series of well-run boxing gags in this burlesque of GOLDEN BOY.
Harrison and Gould's unit had been producing Krazy Kat cartoons for a decade or more, but that remained a black-and-white series. For color, they produced this one-off and it's fairly lively. The color choices are a bit primitive, with most of the clothes tinted in bright, primary colors, sure to show off the expensive Technicolor process. Also, all the kangaroos speak with lower-class New York City accents, but I suppose Australian accents would have confused the intended audience.
