The King Lear (1998) airing of the play has a frame narration by Russell Baker. While preparing the audience for possible confusion between Lord Gloster's similarly named sons Edgar and Edmund, Baker tries to help viewers remember which is which, and gets it wrong. He states that the first one to be seen, writing a letter, is Edmund (the bad son), but in fact it is Edgar (the nicer son).
