- Enemies can be dismembered using explosives or gunfire.
- Shooting an enemy causes blood to spew out and the enemy to flinch. Blood pools create under enemies upon death.
- Many of the infected creatures appear partially decomposed. Regular infected humans and animals have partially exposed internal organs. Lickers have no skin fully exposing brain and muscles.

- An incomplete use of "son of a bitch" (said by one of the umbrella soldiers)
- Unless you count those 2, there's no other profane word to be heard, unlike the 2019 remake, which has plenty of swearing.

- The Licker, especially it's first appearance are known to be one of the scariest things about Resident Evil 2 and it's 2019 remake.
- Weird and grotesque creatures are present throught the game. Strong horific images.
- The death scenes are very graphic.

- The scene where Annette is dying and her daughter Sherry is next to her crying might be sad to some viewers. This is only shown on the game 2nd scenario with Claire.
