Akira Toriyama’s passing away has left the entire world in a grief-stricken state. He was considered a legendary mangaka and the progenitor of the Dragon Ball franchise. His death left a massive hole in the anime and manga industry. Even though he was sick, he was involved with the creation of Dragon Ball Super.
Akira Toriyama was an inspiration to several mangaka, including the ones responsible for the Big Three of anime. After his death, Dragon Ball screenwriter Takao Koyama was seen to pay his tributes to the late mangaka. He mentioned his health and how he possessed a Super Saiyan’s will. Tako Koyama was also thankful to him for helping him get on with his career.

Toei Animation, the Japanese studio behind “Dragon Ball,” “Slam Dunk” and the “One Piece” cartoon franchises, is planning to open a European office in Italy. That may be followed by others in Latin America and India as well as a ramp up of its international production.
The group already has a handful of overseas regional offices covering Asia, the Americas and Australasia, and Europe-Middle East and Africa (Emea). But the group believes that there is more business to be had from the lucrative European market, which the Italy office would service.

Review: Live-action adaptations of anime films and series have succeeded in Japan, but few have overcome the transition to Hollywood. For every Alita Battle Angel, there is a Ghost in the Shell, Dragon Ball Evolution, and Death Note. The cultural barrier aside, there has never been the right balance between ambition and execution. Sony’s Knights of the Zodiac is a valiant attempt to bring the Saint Seiya anime to life with a modest budget and recognizable actors just below the A-list. When it comes to gaming subscription services, Sony has had a lot of trouble keeping up with Xbox’s offerings. However, the PlayStation team still drops the occasional gem via their PlayStation Plus subscription plan, and the service’s next update will include the release of one of PlayStation’s most painfully underrated RPG projects.
Recently, Sony announced the latest additions to the Extra and Premium levels of its PlayStation Plus service. The marquee games are beloved modern titles, such as Horizon Forbidden West and The Quarry, but the game that has everyone talking is tucked way down in the “PlayStation Premium | Classics” section: The Legend of Dragoon. For those who never heard of the game…well, have we got a story for you.
The Legend of Dragoon is a cult classic turn-based RPG developed by Japan Studio (the company behind Ape Escape and Gravity Rush) and published for the original PlayStation.

2022 has been another big year for anime and manga in the United States. This fall's "Chainsaw Man" anime is earning rave reviews. "Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero" earned 32 million worldwide in its first week. Netflix's "Cyberpunk Edgerunners" convinced folks to give the messy "Cyberpunk 2077" another shot, rocketing the game up the Steam rankings. On the manga front, the blockbuster success of Junji Ito has led publishers to take chances on other horror artists like Kazuo Umezu and Kanako Inuki. There's even a fledgling indie manga movement in the United States, with small publishers like Glacier Bay Books and Star Fruit Books distributing titles that might never otherwise see the light of day. We're long past the time of executives chopping up anime series in the editing docket to be marketable to American children. Anime and manga are now respected in their own right, if only because it sells.

Andy Cheng has earned tremendous kudos as the fight choreographer of the bus scene in Marvel’s recent “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.” The scene took nearly a year to plan and execute, and serves to demonstrate Simu Liu’s previously-hidden skills to an open-mouthed Awkwafina, and has since been released by Marvel as a standalone YouTube clip.
Cheng is now hard at work trying to shape the next Asian superhero as action director, stunt coordinator and fight choreographer on “Knights of the Zodiac: Saint Seiya,” a live action adaptation of hit Japanese animated property “Saint Seiya.” The film wrapped up shooting last week in Budapest, Hungary.
“We don’t have the same amount of time or available budget as on ‘Shang Chi.’ But the goal is absolutely the same,” Cheng told Variety. “To craft something very unique that is rooted in Asian culture and has universal appeal.

Mackenyu, the mononymous Japanese actor, and Madison Iseman are set to headline "Knights of the Zodiac," a live-action adaptation of the manga, "Saint Seya," by Masami Kurumada. So much so, in fact, that Netflix and YouTube plan to reduce streaming quality across Europe for the next month in order to ease the strain on the Internet. These are strange times, indeed.
Be that as it may, today is April 1st, which means two things – 1) it’s April Fool’s Day, so the Internet is littered with prank videos and other shenanigans and 2) the Internet’s major streaming services have rolled out a fresh wave of content. Speaking of which, thanks to What’s On Netflix, below you’ll find a comprehensive list of all 83 titles that have been added to the online platform as of April 1st.

Now that we’re self-isolating at home to help defeat the Covid-19 pandemic, this may be the perfect opportunity to catch up on things that have been in our Netflix watchlist for a long while.
The novel coronavirus, a mutated strand from the family of coronaviruses, originated from Wuhan, China late last year, but currently, every single country in the world is battling the outbreak. As of now, more than 714,000 people have contracted the disease and 33,617 have passed away due to severe cases of acute respiratory syndrome. In the Us alone, more than 139,000 patients have been identified and approximately 158 million people are under lockdown across all 50 states. While the ramifications of the Covid-19 may have dealt the world of economics an unprecedented blow, business models like Netflix have profited from people spending more time at home with little to do.
Now, obviously, the platform has enough TV shows and movies...

Another month, another smattering of new Netflix titles to sift through. And it seems the online streamer is kicking off 2020 with a host of juicy horror movies and TV shows.
First thing’s first: there’s a number of big-name titles leaving the service next month, including Panic Room, Grease, American Pyscho, and the Spartacus series. That’s disappointing, to be sure, but among the January 2020 titles are news installments of Grace and Frankie and The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, along with all three Lord of the Rings movies and the Kill Bill films. And it doesn’t stop there.
We’ve compiled the full list below, but a special mention must go to two particularly exciting horror additions: Sam Raimi classic The Evil Dead and Tremors.

Netflix has a budget of $8 billion to produce original film and television programs in 2018. I'm sure if any of us had that much cash floating around, the last thing we'd want to spend it on is making movies and series. However, Netflix have announced that they are going to be spending at least 50% of that budget on brand new content in its library by the end of 2018.
And with that comes the Anime productions. There will be 30 new anime productions planned for next year. Even though anime won't win Netflix any Emmy Awards, this will go a long way into creating strong partnerships and building them into a strong platform. If Amazon Studios can win Oscars for Manchester by the Sea, then surely Netflix cannot be that far behind.
Here is some content that we know is coming next year:

Netflix has been on a roll with anime series like Voltron and Castlevania and now look to continue that trend with a remake of the popular Knights of the Zodiac.
When I woke up this morning the idea that Knights of the Zodiac would be getting a new series was the furthest thing from my mind. Originally reported on Kotaku, Toei Animation and Netflix are partnering to give new life to the series in a 12-episode season running 30 minutes. Along with the announcement we were treated to this poster showing the debut date as only soon.
Saint Seija originally debuting in 1986 in the magazine Weekly Shonen Jump it follows the adventures of five warriors with mystic armor called cloths. It got its own anime which ran from 1986 to 1989, six full length movies, and several games on different platforms. Now the series never really took off in the United States but...

Saint Seiya is a franchise that has been around since the mid-80s and whilst it hasn’t really translated well to the UK, the series, also known as Knights of the Zodiac, has a huge fanbase in the Us and aross the rest of Europe. Personally I’ve never seen a single episode of the anime or read a single volume of the manga. But I have played the video games – in particular the two PS2 entries, Saint Seiya: The Sanctuary and Saint Seiya: The Hades. So I’m excited to see what this latest offering bring to the series…

At the press conference for the musical adaptation of the Buddha manga which was held in Tokyo on January 25th, Takayuki Matsutani, president of Tezuka Productions, announced that they will start production of the second part of Osamu Tezuka‘s Buddha anime film trilogy in this year.
The trilogy is based on Tezuka’s Buddha manga which was published in Japan from 1972 to 1983. The manga has been known as one of his representative works internationally.
The first film Buddha: The Great Departure directed by Kozo Morishita (Saint Seiya) was released in Japan on May 28th, 2011.
