Taking a look at a recent poll being held on IMDb's Classic Film board for the best feature films (long and short of 1947,I noticed the a fellow IMDb'er mentioned that they would like to see two long forgotten Animated short features from 1947.
Checking the IMDb pages for both movies,I discovered that the first title was the last ever short Cartoon to be produced by Columbia,which had also been lost for a number of years.Hoping that the short may have gone from being lost,to found,I was thrilled to find out that this film had been pulled from history,and had thankfully been put online and brought into the modern day.
The plot:
Deciding to play a round of golf,a cat rings up his best friend (a dog) and arranges to play a game of golf tomorrow morning at the Lake Side golf course.
Arriving to the Lake Side,the cat begins to fear that the dog will win a landslide victory,thanks to Bing Crosby and Bob Hope making a surprise appearance,and deciding to ruin every shot that the cat tries to make.

Showing a clear influence from the Warner Bros Looney Tunes,with the cat being a terrificly more deranged riff on the Sylvester character,and a scene in the involving the removing of a golf hole coming straight from a Daffy Duck short,director Sid Marcus and screenwriter Cal Howard are still able to the animation a real twist,which allows for the charming Tecnicolour to still shine through.
Backed by a sadly un-named voice actor giving the cat a perfect Don Adams style voice,before Don Adams was even known!,Marcus starts the game off by showing the cat and dog in perfect harmony,holding hands walking to the pitch.As soon as the first bogey is made,Marcus wonderfully starts to tear the friendship apart,with each of the cats attempts to win the game failing bigger then the one before it.
Bringing Hope and Crosby onto the field,Howard thankfully does not waste time trying to explain what they both have against the cat,but instead goes right from the start in showing both of them having a hilariously illogical hate for the cat,which may possibly involve Bob and Bing being desperate to sell golf balls at inflated prices!,and also shows this to be a delightful animated short,which fully deserves a second chance to be one great caddy.
