Each of the toys in the line included a file card printed on the back of the packaging that contained the biography of the character. These files where written by Larry Hama, who also wrote the G.I. Joe Marvel Comics series as well as the file cards for that toy-line.

Larry Hama's bio for the character of Checkpoint reveals his real name to be Wayne R. Sneeden III and states that his father was a member of a top secret military team during the '80s and '90s. This is a connection to the character of Wayne R. "Beachhead" Sneeden from the G.I. Joe franchise.
The series was derived from a line of toys produced by Hasbro. The figures featured police and criminals from the future, and the series was created as a promotional mean, along with a D.C. Comics series.
