"A Work in Progress" is a very good instructional video that features Peart playing through each of the songs on the 1996 album "Test for Echo," as well as discussions about making drum parts for songs and the creative process in general. However, any non-drummer who happens to be a Rush fan probably would not benefit from the post-performance discussions because the language is too technical. Also, I would think that any non-drummer would get bored just by watching a drummer play along with pre-recorded guitar and bass tracks. That being said, if you are a drummer, or any type of musician, this video can help you understand how Peart comes up with ideas for fills and his trademark complicated beats. Keeping your "tool box" stocked, as Peart would say, is an important part of the creative process. This video is a must for any musician who appreciates the creativeness of Rush and the skill of Peart in particular.
