Nostalgic movie about protecting our environment

I recently re-watched this movie as I loved watching it as a kid. I love this movie for the story of a girl connecting to the natural world around her and the important message for all of us to stand up and protect the natural world around us and realizing it's value. This movie helped instil my values of caring for and respecting animals and that they deserve to have a home like we do. This movie could be a little more refined with the plot and some acting is definitely over the top- it is a kids movie. It's not on the same level as The Amazing Panda Adventure, Alaska, Andre, and Free Willy, if you like those movies you would like this one too.

Brilliant mediocrity

This movie has everything: A poorly written script, overdone acting (except for maybe Bill Cobbs), an underdone plot, complete predictability, and an environmentalist undertone to top it off! Just the thing for the next generation of movie watchers. If there's nothing on Cartoon Network, that is.
