Excellent movie about impossible judicial struggle against Mafia

Very good movie that shows and explains - between the lines- why being an advocate or prosecutor in Sicily is a mission impossible. The young and idealist prosecutor finds himself trapped in a system that has worked for ages but is as bad and corrupt as can be. There is no way out for him being untouchable and politically correct in a society that isn't. The protagonist is so convinced of his idealist view of how the judicial system should work that he is even willing to give up his love and friendship with others. At the end he stands alone and has to bear the consequences of his beliefs. The movie has a slow, beautiful and effective pace and authentic Italian/Sicilian atmosphere.
