An Enlightening Piece of Work
mmorton3 April 2001
This small film made me realize how simple and yet how complicated date rapes can be. I believe that everyone, especially college students should watch this film.

No Visible Bruises is not meant to entertain. It is meant to be informative. However, the film is well acted. Ali Thomas, who plays the role of Katie Koestner, does an extremely well job of portraying the poor woman's nervous and scared state of mind after the rape has been committed. I wish that I can see more of this talented actress in other roles.

I love the ending of the film, before the real Koestner's dialog. The ending works great and sets a mood all its own. That one word Ali Thomas says is just heart-breaking. The ending dialog from the real Katie Koestner is moving and informative also.

You MUST see this film! It is well acted, particularly Ali Thomas' role. The film is also extremely informative. Please, see this movie...

Date Rape: A Young Woman's Personal Experience
H5O29 January 2000
Date rape is one of the unreported crimes in America, and I have seen this short film in a criminal justice class that was an elective before getting my baccalaurate degree in 1997. The young woman was victimized twice, and felt victimized by the second incident when the acquaintance forced himself upon her. The first time that the alleged sexual assault took place was after a few bottles of champagne, and details the dark myth of alcohol abuse and sexual assault. The 1990s might be deemed as the decade of the woman, since stalking, date rape, and sexual harassment have been portrayed by the media and how laws can be changed.

The university kept the date rape as an internal matter, and Katie Koestner's story might be one out of a million where women have gone public about how date rape is never brought before a court of law. The conclusion, with the REAL Katie Koestner, was based on actual statistics, and how others should do when sexual assault is dealt with. Not all cases are prosecuted, since a lot of rape cases are either dismissed and/or tried in a court of law.

It's still happening
tvalways26 May 2019
I'm very glad Katie shared her story. And this was a great special, very needed in our society back then and even now. It's 2019 for me, society currently is in the era of #MeToo, #TimesUp, etc which are movements against sexual harassment, assault, misconduct, rape, and more. Many high profile figures in entertainment, sports, politics, and more have been outted for their past crimes including Bill Cosby and Harvey Weinstein. But what's sad is date rape and all forms of sexual misconduct and abuse are STILL happening. In fact, just the other day I had to say that no matter the circumstances (drunk, asleep, drugged, wearing revealing clothing, whatever), NO ONE deserves to be raped (or violated). I shouldn't have to explain that! And I'm so tired of males believing they're entitled to violate a female for the hell of it. Look, if the other person is not actively and happily participating in the sexual activity, then it is forced / coerced / NOT consensual / RAPE.
