Insipid sitcom
lor_3 July 2022
That overrated pornographer from the Golden Age, Cecil Howard, foisted this lousy, trite and smug sitcom on the public back when porn was chic, and I was fortunate enough to avoid it. I note that zero of his sycophants have chimed in on IMDb to review it, so here goes.

Eric Edwards is mighty tiresome talking endlessly to the viewer about his problems and his uninteresting life, about to hang himself in desperation. The movie is designated under a heading "Theaterotica", so action takes place on cheap, blank studio sets with artificiality emphasized, and at the end a stock shot of a crowd merges with canned applause in self-serving fashion.

Attractive actresses of the VHS era are on hand: Angel as wife, Tiffany Clark as prostitute Eric goes to in desperation, similarly Robin Everett as stewardess and then in a fantasy group sex scene, Taija Rae and Annette Heinz. Sex is vanilla, with plenty of vintage bush on the ladies.

One sex segment is cryptic, reflecting the changing approach porn has taken to the subject of incest over the years. Eric tells us about his being aroused by his nymphette sister Rene Summers -of course a sister back then, not today's obligatory "step-sister". In flashback he tells us how excited he was to watch her lose her virginity to one of their mom's johns, R. Bolla, who she calls "Uncle Jack". Yes, kiddie porn was alive and well back in 1985, before the internet allowed it to proliferate a million-fold.

Movie's not amusing or erotic, just boring and generates "I've seen this a thousand times before" response. I'm certain there are episodes of "Love - American Style", already an oldie when this was made, that are more stimulating.
