Dumb!
=G=16 February 2003
"Sirens" is all about Delany as is a top corporate exec who sets out to get the cop who shot her ex-husband to death during a routine street incident. The film's premise has merit and even the story has potential. However, the execution is an abomination with huge, gaping plot holes at every juncture. Young asks us to swallow huge portions of nonsense as we see everything from police procedure to human nature malformed to fit an awkward, unbelievable, and amateurish screenplay poorly concealed by a thin varnish of trite Hollywoodistics. From its dumb title to its lame conclusion where small talk is interjected between credits, "Sirens" is a good film to miss. (D+)

I Love Red Wigs!
Loomis_Orange7 January 2005
Warning: Spoilers
I don't think this movie is as bad as everyone thinks it it. Dana Delany is wonderful. I like this woman. I also like this woman's character. I care about her. Wexler's friend with his sad, hang-dogged expressions is a good actor. The scenes that come to my mind are the ones where the red wig blows onto the street after she exposes her identity to Wexler's partner, the scene when Wexler's partner carries him into a room on his shoulders after another night of too much booze and that confessional conversation takes place. Carradine's acting in his scene is quite believable. The disappointment and disgust on his partners face is also believable. I watched this film more than once. The scene with the chick and Wexler going at it in the store across the street made me laugh ... wonder why? Why would this shot make it to the actual finished product...

Well, maybe this is as bad as ya'll say it is .. But I liked it cause I'm a Carradine fan!

Ugh, junk

Man, I've seen some bad movies with attemps at pretensions, but this one takes the cake. The premise is this: white wife attempts to avenge her black husband who was shot by a white cop after they're caugh getting jiggly with it in their car, parked under a bridge, in the dead of night. What's worst, when it looks like the cop is racist and obviously begins harassing them for no other reason than it's a white woman with a black man, the couple starts getting indignant and openly refuses the cop's most basic commands.

Look, I'm a minority, and I've been in more than one traffic stops, and I DO EVERYTHING the cops tell me, because I know they'll throw my ass in jail just for messing with them. But our power couple here (she's an exec and he's a professor) thinks they're special -- actually, the screenplay treats them as special (I don't know, maybe because they're a mixed couple? Who knows.) and flat out starts messing with an obviously racist cop. The husband gets shot. The wife goes out for vengeance. Whatever.

Good premise, but terrible execution. Screenplay is full of soap box speeches and moments. Go see SLAM or JUNGLE FEVER if you want actual portrayals of white-black relationships. This one is just beyond comprehension.

way below average
beffels9 October 2003
I decided to watch this partly because of Dana Delaney and partly because the basic idea seemed interesting. It was, however, a mistake.

The movie got very bad towards the end, as the characters and their behaviour became more and more unrealistic and unbelievable. I can't get over the thought that people who made this movie actually may think that these characters would be interesting and/or thought-provoking or anything else that movie characters are supposed to be. The plot was quite weak as well, but the character development was by far the worst I've seen in a long time. It was a bit painful to see ms Delaney in such a poor film, as I've liked all her previous work very much.

Justice Warning: Spoilers
I feel that this film posed a point worth mentioning (checks and balances—as these apply to enforcers of our laws & the associated agencies & departments. This is the true emphasis of this film as it transcends beyond the initial impression that this is a film about racism and interracial romance--proved by the unravelling details.

Without giving away the movie, it is well worth seeing & could serve as a model for research. (Perhaps a later movie spin off/sequel could use this film as a precedent that another of the area's civilians/officers could copycat & show the long-term results of this one.)

I also feel that an irritating failure by the casted experts to explore this point on the grounds of "People on the Behalf of Vincent Morgan" not only made me pay more attention to it but also established the friction of this film & of our justice system: treating officials with higher regard than civilians. An occupation is just another opportunity for doing what is right. This film explored the results of neglectful counsel as given by people in high position who defined the barriers by their (falsely) "absolute" attitudes, closed mindsets, & lack of more answers (without admitting that there could be a different approach that no one has yet to try or popularize) simply because of their years of service of quantities of cases. Quantity does not equal quality.

The flaws in each character gave this film added depth. The fuzzy details towards the end of this film made it more meaningful, and the cast of this film would have done this film even greater justice by briefly expressing their dramatic sides to this film in outtakes (that would not be seen in the film itself) via promotional "previews".

Good performance by Dana Delaney
tedpeoples2 October 2005
I have a new appreciation for Dana Delaney after both this role and her role in the movie Tombstone. I reviewed her other roles on this database and was surprised that I have seen so few of her performances to date. I wish I knew if it were her movie choices or a combination of the opportunities given her. I think she is a very under-rated actress, and wish I had seen more of her. Alas, I will enjoy watching her in Sirens or in Tombstone, in my opinion, her best performances - that I have seen anyway. Oh, and unlike the previous post, I don't feel the premise of the movie is that far off base. Without a plot, you don't really have a movie, now, do you.

If your time is important-DO NOT WASTE IT!
slim-4422 October 1999
Absolutely, positively, this movie has my vote as the stinker of the millenium. An absolutely abominal waste of time and talent to make this movie about a woman's fight to expose a police cover-up after they kill her ex-husband. This woman's fight takes her into the unbeliveably extraordinary step of compromising herself to get the truth out (I won't say what she did) about what really happened the night that her ex-husband was killed. My rating for this dud is 0.1 out of 10, and that 0.1 is only because Dana Delaney is so sexy!

Warning: Spoilers
OK so it wasn't the best film I have ever seen, and do agree with a few of the negative remarks. But it was what it was, and old school TV movie....

The plot though not very well written had potential and while it didn't always deliver the storyline wasn't so bad.

I brought this film ex-rental on VHS because Im a Delany fan and wasn't as disappointed as I thought I would be after reading the reviews. I liked her character and found it very easy to sympathise... was it ridiculous at times, Yes! Was it clichéd at times, yes! But over all it held my attention and the conclusion was pretty satisfying.

Carradine played his part well, both of the cops gave me the creeps in fact! And granted the love scene was ludicrous in the sense that I didn't buy their connection at all... but overall I think the actors did well considering the material.

Over all id give this 'TV movie' a 6 out of 10, if only for the actors that made it enjoyable beyond the many holes in the script.

If you're a Delany or Carradine fan, id say give it a go :)

watch it!
AdriAnnaRRR28 July 2002
I watched this movie yesterday and I enjoyed it. All the actors were great. Dana Delany played a successful woman that preferred work to everything else in her life till her ex-husband was killed by 2 cops. Right after she found out that justice is no longer by her side, she decides to make her own justice. I've never seen this actress before but I think that there should be more actresses like her - pure and emotional. Justin Theroux was even better. It's a pity that the director didn't do more with such great performances!!! That's the only flaw in this movie. Also they put too much philosophy into the script. It should have been in the context, not in the text itself.. Anyway - watch it!
