- Occasionally staff are seen visiting a local bar that serves alcoholic drinks and some are seen consuming alcohol.
- Sometimes patients (on the odd occasion a staff member) may have been abusing drugs (prescribed or otherwise)
- Rarely a character may be seen smoking (does not take place in the hospital building).
- Some of the staff take medications for medical conditions (including mental illnesses such as depression and bipolar). Patients are also given medications for medical reasons.
