A concept so limiting it's no wonder it was never approved as a regular series.

"Tickets, Please" is a failed television pilot that was, like many failed pilots, shown on "CBS Summer Playhouse"...a dumping ground for pilots the network refused to make into a regular series. In the case of "Tickets, Please", I can see why it failed even before watching the show (which is currently on YouTube)...the idea is so limited. It's about the adventures of folks in a bar car on a train! Huh?

The story stars Cleavon LIttle as Babe Baker, an attendant on the train. Along with Little, Yeardley Smith of "The Simpsons" is in the cast. Both went opposite directions in their lives after this, with Little dying unexpectedly at 53 and Smith went on to HUGE fame as Lisa Simpson.

So is this ensemble show any good? Not especially. Although some of the passengers are good and familiar actors like Harold Gould and Bill Macy, the show tries to be another "Cheers" but simply hasn't got a change since the idea for the show is so limiting. A clear miss.
