Doomsday Book aka ‘The Fall of Humanity’, follows the same formula as previous films such as ‘Three extremes’ or ‘Four Rooms’ in which the film is split until 3 or 4 stories all linked together by a common theme.
In the case of Doomsday the short stories all focus on humanity (ending, changing, threatening).
As with ‘Three Extremes’ and ‘Four Rooms’ the stories are brought together by a stellar cast as well as renowned directors.
Doomsday book features a top cast including Park Hae-il (“Arrow, The Ultimate Weapon“), Kim Kang-woo(“Hello Schoolgirl“) and Song Sae-byeok (“Sector 7“).
Plot Lines
First Chapter (“Heaven’s Creation”) – Director Kim Ji-woon:
A story about a robot who gains consciousness and the abusrdity that follows.
Second Chapter (“The New Generation”) – Director Lim Pil-seong:
A clever action film told from the point of view of a boy who has become a zombie, this segment explores how humans lose control of planet Earth,...

Arrow, The Ultimate Weapon (also known by the title War of the Arrows and quite a few others) is set in Korea at the beginning of the 17th century and after a reasonably short preface that introduces us to the central protagonist escaping from death, Nam-yi (Park Hae-il), the film moves forward to 1636 and the invasion of Korea by the Manchurians. Nam-yi, who was a child in the opening section, is now a displaced adult with a particular skill in using a bow, a skill that provides the unique selling point of this rather entertaining action film.
With the invasion of Korea by the Manchurians and the capture of his sister Nam-yi is on the run. Generally either being chased or doing the chasing his skill with the bow is what keeps him alive and his penchant for using a particular type of arrow brings him to the attention of...

Cine Asia/Showbox are just unstoppable, it seems. In the shadow of their losses from the Sony fire last month, they have announced several new acquisitions for the fourth quarter of 2011, including recent South Korean action hit, Arrow The Ultimate Weapon. Also included in their plans are Spanish freak-out Neon Flesh, British horror Panic Button, and Korea's selection for the 2012 Oscars, Front Line. With Front Line and Arrow, Cine Asia reaffirm their position among the top video labels worldwide in bringing contemporary Asian action to home video. Great job, guys! On top of that, they've got a whole stack of formerly out of print Hong Kong Legends represses ready to hit stores again this fall on DVD. Good stuff! Another Korean movie due out later this year that deserves looking out for is Kim Han-min's historical action film Arrow, The Ultimate Weapon and this new trailer and making-of feature ought to help people remember it because it looks excellent. Kim Han-min is the man behind 2006's Paradise Murdered, which got pretty good reviews, as did his sophmore effort Handphone. It stars Park Hae-il (Memories Of Murder, Paradise Murdered), Ryoo Seung-yong (The Front Line, Blades Of Blood) and Park Ki-woong (The Art Of Fighting) and is set to be released in Korea on August 11th.

Or it could be called “Bow: Ultimate Weapon”. I’m not really sure which way the title is leaning at this point, but for now, we’ll refer to director Kim Han-min’s forthcoming “bow and arrow” adventure flick as “Arrow: The Ultimate Weapon”. From the looks of the latest trailer below, one can expect the following: stylish cinematography, lavish costumes, and plenty of arrow-related injuries. And even if the story is insanely weak, at least the film has that going for it. Here’s what the film is all about: 13 years after the King Injo Revolt, the Chosun Dynasty is attacked by the Chung Dynasty of China. A young man named Na-mi leaves his demolished village to find his young sister, Ja-in, and her finance Su-koon, who were to wed on the very day of the attack. While on his mission to rescue her, he is being traced by Jushinta,...

“Hollywood” Hulk Hogan is right. The World Wrestling Entertainment champion, who held on to his belt for an unprecedented four years, took his blond locks and 24-inch pythons to Tinseltown, starring in such actioners as “No Holds Barred” and “The Ultimate Weapon” as well as kid-friendly comedies like “Suburban Commando” and “Mr. Nanny” while grappling for the World Championship Wrestling, World Tag Team and Royal Rumble championships. His very first film role, though, was in Sylvester Stallone’s “Rocky III,” in which he plays Thunderlips, a flamboyant pro wrestler whom the Italian Stallion spars with in what is supposed to be an exhibition match for charity. The Hulk’s brief appearance serves as a metaphor for the film’s plot (Rocky doesn’t take the match seriously until he’s humiliated in the ring) and thematic meditation on the circus that fame brings.
Choice Quotation:
[Thunderlips holds Rocky in the air]
Thunderlips: No one can believe the superhuman strength of Thunderlips!

Forgotten Films [1] is a semi-regular feature on Film Junk where we explore interesting movies that have fallen off the radar or slipped through the cracks over the years. Everyone loves a good turkey around Christmas, so this week we've got a very special movie to satisfy that holiday craving: Santa with Muscles, the 1996 crapterpiece starring Hulk Hogan! Sometimes movies become "forgotten films" for a very good reason, and in the case of Santa With Muscles, it seems perfectly acceptable that the majority of the world is blissfully unaware of its existence. Still, with a ridiculous title like that, I felt compelled to seek out a copy and investigate further. It had to be good for at least a few laughs, right? In recent years we've seen plenty of WWE wrestlers make the transition to questionable acting careers, but many people forget that a handful of the popular '80s wrestlers...
