Absolute Crap
sutcal31 December 2002
Well other than seeing some good images of the Blackpool Tower, this movie is tedious, certainly not funny and does nothing to enhance the reputation of English Comedy (if Comedy is what it is supposed to be).

My recommendation is to avoid this movie at all costs. Its 90 minutes of your life you will be wasting.

Rubbish

Warning: Spoilers
Oh my gosh, two horrible movies in one night. This movie was absolute trash. First of all, there can't possibly be a worse voice than Tracey Wilkinson's. That is, at least when it was apparent she wasn't lip-sinc'ing! And who would buy the story-line? Mark Addy isn't exactly Brad Pitt -- he couldn't swing being married to one, let alone two, of these lovely older ladies. The only characters who are worth giving any merit to in this movie are Freddie Jones as Jasper (absolutely hilarious), the fellow who played the mad-bomber (reminded me of a British Christopher Lloyd), and Fedorah the dog. And I'm serious about the last one. The worst scene had to be the police chase at the end. The stunt doubles were obvious, the jokes were worse than lame, and the stupid Benny Hill music... need I say more? Trash, trash, trash. Save your money and your time and rent the Station Agent instead of this tripe. That's right, park this garbage on the curb. That is, if the garbage men will even accept it!!!

Lovely little flick

This quirky, and ultimately quintessentially British comedy is a little hidden gem, waiting to be discovered by the cult connoisseurs of the digital generation. It features one of my favourite actresses, the talented Beth Pinkerton (who also co-produced this flick), in a hilarious scene.

Little known fact-fodder for movie buffs: originally this movie would have featured Gary Glitter, but the scandal surrounding him broke just before shooting was to commence. Subsequently, Noddy Holder (of Slade) was cast, but he bailed out at a very late stage as well. Eventually, a Noddy Holder impersonator was cast. In addition, the fact that the Blackpool Pier was destroyed in a storm shortly before the spectacular final scene was to be shot necessitated some last-moment script revisions.

a fun movie to watch with friends
sarahsydney21 April 2004
Saw the movie a while ago on the fox channel. I saw the movie with friends after a late night and we could not stop laughing. Sam Tex was particularly funny but that just may be my humur at that time. The music was good and the plot fast moving. I would recommend the film to any one to watch after a night out. The story of a taxi driver with two wives made me believe that he loved both of them. Malcolms attempts to stop his wives meeting led to him taking more and more desperate measures. The moment he shoots himself in the foot and eats cigarettes made me look away from the screen. A fun movie that is best watched with friends.
