Contrived Disagreement Filled With Pretension
hbasri-schiers631 August 2018
Mr. Smith needs to calm down. No one likes to be screamed at. He often makes good points, but they are lost in the "performed outrage" that accompany them.

His opposite often makes more sense, but the pretense of intellectual rigor is out of place ....this a sports talk, not brain surgery.

Unwatchable for any sustained period.

No Max Kellerman?
QuackQuack13 September 2021
Are you kidding me ESPN? You're handing over the entire show to S. A. S? Kellerman was the only reason I watched this show. Now you're bringing on Michael Irving as a guest host? Two screaming, babbling and ranting morons, no thanks, I'm want to hear unbiased news and reporting, not this direction you've let your network go.

World Series Coverage
quockquock23 October 2019
I'm watching First Take the day after Game 1 of the 2019 World Series. It's also the day after the first game of the 2019 NBA regular season. All they are talking about is LeBron James. He lost! His team lost! The World Series was on last night and they're talking about a fading star who is past his prime. Why? They're not even talking about any other NBA Game, or the NFL, which is in the middle of a great season. It's a horrible show, I still watch it from time to time, but when Stephen A. Smith starts screaming like an idiot.. Click! I want to watch sports, not hear someone scream.

A lot of room for improvement definitely not the best sports talk show
alfredmanivannan209 December 2018
Screaming A Simp is getting ridiculous man. Its clear that there's an agenda and pandering going on. Max is a nice addition but I wish he could troll more like skip used to do. A lot of these takes revolve around the same things and a lot of them are recycled... its getting boring and old. Max's baseball analogies are getting even more boring and old. Please stop acting like you know everybody in sports Stephen A... you don't. Stop lying. "I know him personally... I know his brother... I know his dentist... I come to his dinner parties..." Also Mr. Smith you need to stop yelling and let other people talk. All that yelling can't be good for you this isn't AC/DC karaoke this is a sports debate why are you stuck on CAPS LOCK. The dude screams for everything and anything. And you as knicks fans are so whiny and toxic... this is why people hate knicks fans cause all they do is just complain about the knicks. Stephen A why do you keep contradicting yourself? Like forreal you complain about boogie signing with GSW then you complain about people complaining when you did the EXACT same thing. You flip flop more than a politician does. Max you need to be more of a contrarian. I know its not you but to save these ratings you have to play devils advocate and go full out. We know you are right most of the time and you do occasionally school Stephen A but stop acting like your so smart you are just a sports analyst not a rocket scientist like forreal. Also you have to understand that kyrie really did expose the both of you when he came on first take. So in conclusion... stop praising lebron for everything. Stop talking about lebron 24/7 and try to dispel media narratives instead of enforcing them.

Can you NOT say LeBron?
QuackQuack7 March 2019
I watch this show a lot. It can be good at times. However, I cannot stand the fact that no matter what, they talk about LBJ at least once every 30 minutes. Even during baseball season. They talk about his contract, his injuries, his moving, his off the court dealings, his future plans, his past career, his future career and so on. If they aren't talking about him, LBJ's name is scrolling at the bottom of the screen. Plus it's not just this show but pretty much every show on ESPN. I get it, LeBron is great, but can't we go more than an hour on ESPN and not have to hear a story on Lebron? It's actually ruining the network in my opinion. I'd be willing to bet you can't get on ESPN or ESPN2 and watch for 30 minutes and not hear or see the word LeBron.
