Lindsay carry this movie.

Life size (2004)

Story about a girl who uses a magical book to bring his mother back to life again to make her father happy again.

I watched this movie because I'm a fan of Lindsay Lohan and I think she's fantastic in here. I feel like she's the only character doing good in this movie.

The script wasn't impressive. The deliberation of the actors was so lame besides Lindsay Lohan of course.

Acting were terrible. I think they're very amateur. There are a lot of dull moments.

The cinematography quite fine though at times, it went un focus to the scene.

over all,

I believe Lindsay Lohan did fantastic in this movie but the production itself was terrible and the rest of the actors included.

Basically a good movie.
I liked this movie, it is a movie filled to the brim with cheesy dialog. I don't think that it should be a movie just for children to watch, I am 20, and I thought that it was pretty cool. I also loved the fact that Tyra Banks was a black doll, and the other cast members were white, you just don't see that very often, Had I not known that Tyra Banks was playing "Eve" the life-size doll, I would have figured that the person picked to play "Eve" would have been white, hey, that's just the way the world works. You should watch this movie.

a lonely girls spell
gandalf_a_19993 October 2006
Having seen Lohan recently in Just My Luck I remember this movie from a while back.

This movie is much better than Just My Luck as it has more depth and well just a bit more believable. The Parent Trap before this is also a good movie to see, I recommend this one out of the three I have mentioned.

While the story line might turn you off, it's a passable movie and great to see Lohan's early performance.

Supermodel Tyra Banks also needs a mention if you need some more motivation to see this.

Not just for little girls.

Warning: Spoilers
The idea of a mom or girlfriend brought to life from an inanimate object is not a new one and has been used as a plot device in film and TV for years. We've seen the story before in "Mannequin," and Disney's "A Mom for Christmas." In the later film we see a department store mannequin who is brought to life by a widower's daughter. In this film, it's a fashion doll. These films feature drop dead beauties in the lead role wearing fun, colorful outfits. Not exactly great actresses, but with enough charisma to make the role work in a cute type of way. "Life-Size" features Lindsay Lohan (the cute little red-head from "The Parent Trap") as the young girl and Jere Burns ("Dear John") as her father. Both are very good actors and their performances and chemistry are so good that casting them in the same roles for a TV sitcom might not be a bad idea. Jere Burns subtle and gentle performance is better than his usual roles where he snaps one-liners. The script and direction of this film are also very good, not settling on obvious jokes and letting the characters time to adjust to situations. While the idea of a perfect mom being a dumb witted doll might seem old-fashioned, we also see dad working along side career women, and his daughter is involved in co-ed football (as quarter back no less). Also of note are the fashion costumes that were inspired by actual fashion doll clothes and accessories. This is a film that spends as much time with the adults as it does with the child which places it in a different orbit than most Disney films. Supermodel Tyra Banks plays Eve, the fashion doll, and with her hair up in a bun, pearls around her neck, perfect tall poise, perfect long legs, and incredible good looks, certainly is a fashion doll. Despite interesting and comedic situations, her character is boring and certainly no fantasy for a young girl. She is a man's fantasy and more specifically the father's fantasy. We watch him slowly fall in love with her mystique as much as her looks. Not surprisingly, Tyra Banks looks great in every scene (if Tyra Banks is not the most beautiful woman in the world, she certainly comes close). Surprisingly she has a gift for comedic pantomime (watching her try to keep up with the real world work office and home kitchen without breaking a sweat was a treat). Scenes that require her to mimic the looks of a Barbie doll namely the plastic smile, the vogue poses (she points both her hands up to the side after typing gibberish on a computer at work), the way she gets used to her legs and arms being able to move ("my ankles bend!"), are very good, perhaps because Tyra Banks is experienced at modeling, and to be honest, what supermodel does not have a plastic smile and vogue poses? There might have been some inside joke going on by casting a supermodel without the supermodel herself knowing it. Later in the film there is a sweet scene between Tyra Banks and Lindsay Lohan as Tyra puts Lindsay to bed. The director's pacing seemed to relax Tyra a bit, and her lines spoken in whisper were not bad. I wouldn't mind watching Tyra Banks learning her craft in a series spin-off or sequel of "Life-Size." She makes a great mom and wife to this family and as she learns to be human she might loosen up some more.

Life-Size was pretty good
Cutelizzy19 July 2006
Lindsay Lohan was cute as a kid and as a teen, but personally, I didn't think she was that good. As she grew up, I think she became a better actress. Life-Size is probably above average. I used to hate it and think it was really lame, bad plot, blah, blah, blah, but after reading all the comments on the first page, it really got me thinking.

The plot IS original yet simple.

Tyra Banks DID do a fantastic job as Eve.

The movie WAS pretty funny.

Now I've realized that the movie was good and the actors all did a good job.

Well hello...Dolly !
Coventry2 December 2003
Don't you just love these lazy sunday afternoons ? Just laying around your house and do absolutely nothing but watching TV...Unfortunately, I couldn't find the remote when this thing started. I was laying in my couch and the remote was nowhere near...I didn't want anything to spoil my lazyness so I kept watching it.

It was...errrr...CUTE ! Being a 22 year old-fashioned male who wastes most of his time by seeing horror and foreign cult films, I don't think I was part of the target audience this movie tried to reach. So, I also see no reason in bashing it completely. The cast and crew tries so much to bring tears to your eyes. All typical elements are included : the poor girl who just lost her mommy, the workaholic dad who forgets his daughter's football match, the ugly duckling at the office who turns into a beautiful swan ... I'm not being cynical, I'm sure you will cry when you're a young girl (aged 8 - 14) or a lonely housewife ( age 30-55) but if you don't fall into any other category, you'll just watch at it and don't move a muscle. Either that or you have emotional problems...

The cast is filled with "I've seen him/her before somewhere" - faces but I couldn't put a name to those faces. Usually this means they're washed up actors and actresses who can only get jobs in inferior family Disney movies. Except for Tyra Banks of course...She's playing the role she was born to play. A life-size doll !! She's dumb, naïve, ignorant but oh so beautiful and perfect. Her job is to walk around and look hot and she can handle that perfectly well.

The overload of sentiment, morals, drama and unfunny comedy almost made me puke but still I didn't got up to look for the remote. ( That's a good sign by the way...it means this movie is "bearable" till the end )

The monday after, my little niece told me she saw it too and she said she never saw a better movie...so, you see, it's all relative

Interesting....
mkozaiti11 July 2008
The idea of a little girl wanting to bring her mother back to life made me thought the plot and movie was going to be kind of cheesy. I was wrong. It was sad because of Casey's mother, but it made a great story of friendship. The first time I ever even heard of the movie (and saw it) was on Disney Channel. I wish it could be sold so other people can see it even if they weren't Disney Channel fans. I also did not recognize Tyra Banksat at first. She has been the host of reality shows(such as American's Next Top Model) made her own show, (the Tyra Show) made a music video, (shake your body) and now acting? Talk about talent.

expected more Lohan
SnoopyStyle4 December 2018
Casey Stuart (Lindsay Lohan) is a tough little football player. After her dad Ben (Jere Burns) missed her football game, she tries a resurrection spell to bring back her dead mother. Ben's girlfriend Drew McDonald buys her a doll Eve (Tyra Banks) which gets accidentally animated with her spell.

I expected more Lohan but this is really Tyra Banks' movie. She has many solo section at Ben's office. I also don't feel the chemistry between her and Ben. This should be a Casey and Eve buddy comedy. Together, Casey can deal with the lost of her mother and Eve can learn to be human. That's the best part of this movie. The comedy potential is endless. Their relationship could feed into Ben's feelings for Eve. Tyra Banks is not good enough as a comedic lead. She has some good sass but her anger is ill-fitting for the role. It is possible that they didn't see Lohan as the star but she's already done The Parent Trap. This should be Casey's story and not Eve's.

Great Movie!!!
Anton1865 March 2000
I think "Life Size" is a great movie. It's too bad that it is just a TV Movie and will not have copies of it sold in stores. I never would have known that Tyra Banks was such a great actress. She was excellent for the part of Eve. It's a great family movie and I hope that they decide to release a video of it in stores.

An OK movie
Cookie2428 April 2000
Lindsay Lohan, my favorite young actress, has failed me in this movie. 'Life Size' was very far from being trashy, but it wasn't a masterpiece. The first problem was that the story of parent-dies, child-mourns thing has been done to death. A lot of the scenes are somewhat predictable and the song at the end made me want to keel over. Still, Lindsay Lohan is a fine actress and by herself, she held my attention to the end of the movie. My suggestion to anyone who hasn't seen it is to borrow it from someone who's actually going to buy it, watch it and see for yourself. I could watch 'The Parent Trap' all day. 'Life Size', on the other hand, well...

Kind of awkward
ericstevenson19 October 2016
This is still way ahead of Carrot Top or the animated Titanic film, but this still isn't quite good. It features a girl who tries to bring her mother back to life, but instead brings her doll to life. Yeah, it's kind of better and worse than it sounds. In the first thirty minutes, I really was enjoying some of it. As it went on, it did get weaker. I guess it's just because it's weird that this film about a doll coming to life has all this talk about death and moving on. I mean, I know the intentions are good but it was just so weird how they set it up. I guess I could compare it to something like "The Odd Life Of Timothy Green". It's a movie that tries to be sincere but doesn't really know how to be serious with its silly premise.

I think the movie could have worked a lot more if it had more jokes. I mean, it should have been more light hearted. I do admit that the acting isn't bad. Lindsay Lohan is a fairly good actress and she actually does act pretty realistically to this situation. I remember back when I read Disney Adventures comics and how they always promoted Disney Channel original movies. It's hard to say whether they're at least better than their direct-to-video sequels, but they might be slightly. At least they don't follow up a perfectly good movie. This is nostalgic in a weird way. They have in fact made better movies like this, so I say you can skip it. But hey, Tyra Banks isn't that bad of an actress! It's better than "High School Musical", but not by much. **

Small Budget, Big Power! Hilarious Family Film!
Viddy2424 September 2005
At first glance I bet 90% of people would under estimate it. But I tell you, this is one heck of a film. It should have been put into theatres because it is SO much fun, and you can watch it with Family, friends, Anyone...and it NEVER gets boring! The comedy is everywhere. Jokes, gags, everything! It is so hilarious and you could seriously laugh through out the whole film. The acting was GREAT! It was clear and good. Finally the PLOT. Truly original! It is simple but the film is truly GREAT! Overall I give it 9/10. A bit of work here and there and the film could actually be PERFECT! RENT the film, actually, BUY the film because whenever your bored or feeling low, this film has enough comedy to make you feel better again. Small Budget, Big Power!

Sequel on the way in 2014?
nerdomatic10-937-66723016 February 2014
Warning: Spoilers
I'm just a tired old man, but I love Tyra Banks, so I watched "Life-Size" a few times when it was in rotation on the Disney Channel back in 2000. It's a very sweet-natured, well-made, deftly-acted fantasy with some startling cast choices. I'm a long-time sap for sentimentality and I loved this flick.

The aforementioned Tyra is probably a crazy, conceited, difficult witch in real life, but here she plays an absolutely adorable, appealing, luminous character. Supermodels make a living by already fulfilling that illusion of portraying dolls come to life, so it could very well be that this is not such a terrible stretch for Miss Tyra. It's a nice touch that the Barbie clone "Eve" is played by a black woman, but with no attention called to her race. Tyra just cruises comfortably through her role, and she's funny and touching and sad in all the right places. She's Miss Perfect, with all her many careers and beautiful outfits and makeup. The humor comes in when she discovers that all her make-believe skills are non-existent in reality, but she determinedly soldiers on anyway. "Policewoman Eve" leaps in front of a speeding truck to save a fallen Lindsay Lohan, but it's pure luck that the driver has excellent brakes. "Homemaker Eve" just makes a terrible mess of the kitchen instead of whipping up a delicious meal. "Secretary Eve" looks fantastic in a business suit and a bun, but she can't type or operate office machinery. And so on.

The other casting surprise is a very young Lindsay Lohan. She's about 13 or 14 here, and shows no signs of the horrible future that awaits her. She plays her part skillfully, and is impressive as a young girl who's understandably upset by her mother's death and her father's inability to supply the attention she wants and needs. The rest of the cast is likewise superb, and all the acting neatly fits into the light-hearted tone of this flick.

Now, to the present. Tyra recently tweeted that a sequel is in the planning stages, and might be made later this year. I hope so, and I will definitely watch it if everything works out. Tyra herself will be right on the money. At 40, she doesn't look all that different from 26 or 27, and will easily make an awesome Eve. The other actors can still fit in just fine if the story includes a passage of time aspect. I highly doubt that Disney will hire Lindsay Lohan this time around. She has become way too unreliable and erratic, and might ruin the whole project. Another mid-20's actress could play Casey quite well without all the off-screen headaches. Anyway, the original "Life-Size" is a fun little movie that Disney has expertly aimed at children, but adults will also find plenty to entertain them if they just relax and let it carry them back to their own childhood for a couple hours.

Another Disney widower based plot
olderbutwiser10 November 2008
it was OK- my kids liked it especially when younger. It just seems that all the tween shows(Zac/Cody,Hanna M, Drake/josh, ICarly) as well as movies like this could not exist without killing off ONE of the parents so that there can be a sexless love interest for the remaining parent to further the plot. My children actually think that would be a "cool" environment- i guess they don't understand that the life insurance helps supplement the life style.

It reflects the laziness of the writers and probably the throwaway lifestyle of Hollywood in general. It goes back to My 3 sons, Bachelor Father, Family Affair etc I guess but I for one am sick of it.

Adorable
Judith-415 January 2001
I've always loved Tyra Banks as a model and I loved her even more in this movie. She was adorable when she first came to life from being a doll and she showed some real emotions later when she learned what it was like to be human. The scene at the end of the football made me cry along with the characters. I know the plot has been done before, but I guess I'm a sucker for them. I also like "My Stepmother is an Alien" and the recent one on PAX where Kathy Ireland played Santa's daughter. I hope that Tyra Banks does more acting because she is very appealing.

I was very impressed
kgdakotafan18 August 2009
I love film. I am not a sucker for cheap, TV Disney movies. I was pleasantly surprised. I am a 14-year old boy, and I didn't like this movie. I loved it! The acting by young Lindsay Lohan as the emotionally disconnected tomboy dealing with loss was really good.

I also find most of these types of movies to be shallow, to only speak to a young audience and to patronize (all copies of Get a Clue should be destroyed.) This movie is more than that. The moment I saw the opening scene I realized that I could picture the dialogue being spoken in real life by real adults. It was more honest than most other movies, and it had humor and heart that most movies of this budget and genre don't. Some of the attempts at humor fell flat, but a lot of it was actually...funny.

When Eve (Tyra Banks) is turned from a doll to a human being, she thinks she's the best at everything. She is then reminded, however, that the goal is to try your best, not to be the best, and that you can still be a role model and not be perfect. Eve also brings a little wisdom with her when she shows the people around her that life is about happiness and sweetness and simplicity, and that when adults get caught up in petty disagreements and entangled in their "demanding" lives, they are only doing it to themselves. Life is too short not to be happy and not to sweat the small stuff and to savor the moment.

This is just what I took out of this movie. Everyone has their own interpretation depending on where they are in their lives, and I think this was the right time to see this movie.

Don't skip this one!

Ok, but key plots taken from another movie!
srmccarthy20 December 2000
Warning: Spoilers
This movie was ok, but I could not help but notice how much it was like another movie (a very good movie!) "The Never Ending Story"! You have read other's comments enough to know what the story is about, so I will only explain the reason for my opinion.

SPOILER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The "Never Ending Story" and "Life-Size" connection:

A mother who passed away.

A child going to a book store.

A situation where something must happen or else!

What if you wanted to bring back the dead but instead brought a doll to life.
lisafordeay14 January 2015
Warning: Spoilers
I just watched the movie Life Size online as I haven't seen this movie for years until today. The story is about a young girl called Casey(played by former child star Lindsay Lohan who made her debut back in 1998 with The Parent Trap) a timid young girl who is living with her father who happens to work in Business. Her mom passed away a long time ago and she is trying to bring her back from the dead. So Casey steals a book that can bring people back from the dead and on the eve of her birthday, her dad's girlfriend gives Casey an Eve doll which aren't as popular as they used to be.But when Casey's dad's girlfriend accidentally brushes Eve's doll as Casey was doing the Resurrection spell out of the book that she stole from the bookshop she ends up bringing her doll Eve to life. Now Eve(played by America's Next Top Model host Tyra Banks) is alive and well, and Casey is mortified when she sees Eve sleeping beside her the next day. Its up to Casey to get another book from the 1st book that she got and bring back Eve as a doll again before the 4th day or else Eve will be human forever.

But does Casey have second thoughts? And will she become friends with her own barbie doll?

Now I know what you are thinking this movie is so stupid, and your right it is very stupid and silly but for some strange odd reason I actually found myself enjoying it as I haven't seen it in a long time. Tyra and Lindsay were great in it,and I hate to say this but I always cry at the end of the movie where Eve has to go back to being a doll in the end and says to Casey that Sunnydale is where she belongs and that Casey is a great friend to have.

If you are looking for a nice fantasy movie to watch or is a fan of Lindsay Lohan before she made all those mediocre films that she is doing nowadays then check it out.

Waste of time completely!
eris18217 June 2005
Warning: Spoilers
OK, I was bored and there was nothing on at 10pm, only thing was Life Size. I swear, it was the STUPIDEST movie ever-wait, i've seen worse- and Lindsay Lohan did a horrible job acting. Everyone did a horrible job acting, and the story did not make any sense at all. I don't realize how Casey tried to "resurect" her mother with a spell and accidentally gave her doll a human life. Huh? Tyra Banks was OK, but shouldn't have done it- someone else smaller in fame should have. And after seeing Parent Trap, I would have expected much, much more from Lindsay. Basically, never watch this movie because it wastes time. A LOT of time.

Enjoyable family movie
mosschas4 January 2005
Pleasantly surprised by Tyra's bubbly rendition of a doll's outlook and reaction to 'real life'. The situation of child angst and need for her mother can be handled seriously or lightly. Both help get the point across that in tough times, children need love and support. So what if it comes from a doll accidentally brought to life. The movie did not go too overboard on needing to correct the situation as other movies have. The doll's outlook on life based on infusion from commercial ditties and TV perfection helps to show the difference between TV and reality in a way kids can understand. Talk to you kids about this after the movie but enjoy Eve's bubbly attitude and style during the show.

i only really watched this film because i was on holiday in boring Yorkshire with nothing to do what so ever. also it had Lindsay Lohan in, one of my top favourite actresses so i thought what the hell. i was pleasantly surprised though as i really enjoyed the film. at first i thought OK a doll comes to life how gay. in fact it was really cool and Lindsay played a totally lovable character. the actress that played the doll was really good too and her and Lindsay worked well together to produce an excellent film. i didn't really like the end though as i thought it would have been much better if she hadn't gone back to Sunnyvale but had stayed and married Casey's dad. that would have been much cuter. i'd recommend anyone to watch this film, i think the family would enjoy it- well maybe not the dads!

A beautiful film from way back when Lindsay Lohan starred in good ones!
Sherazade27 March 2006
Warning: Spoilers
Totally adorable! Lindsay Lohan and supermodel Tyra Banks are charming in this stunning supernatural drama brought to you by the way of Disney! Lohan's character is a young girl who is still stricken by the sudden death of her mother, if though it happened many years ago. She cannot forgive her mum for leaving so soon, and now as her father becomes more and more close to one of his female co-workers, she (Lohan) becomes more and more resentful and starts to exclude herself for the things she normally loves the most.

One day, she visits a magic shop and steals a book that promises to hold secrets about bringing back the dead. She takes the book up and performs a ritual from it. Earlier on in the evening, in an attempt to bond with her, her father's girlfriend had presented her with one of the most popular dolls in town, called Eve. The doll's hair accidentally gets mixed up with that of Lohan's character's mum's in a hairbrush and comes to life by way of Tyra Banks when the spell is complete.

The film then develops into a slapstick comedy as this fully life sized doll tries to fit in with the real world much to Lohan's shock. The real life doll begins to fall in love with Lohan's dad and they soon realise that if the doll is not returned to it's natural state, she will remain in the real world forever. Tyra/Eve doesn't have a problem with this, until one day on the news, she hears that her brand of Eve dolls is about to be canceled forever. Armed with the wisdom she had acquired from the real world, she returns to dolly-world, leaving a heartbroken Lohan, with whom she has formed a bond, behind.

Lohan credit
kkrabby896 April 2003
The only reason I truly saw it was because of Lindsay Lohan. This movie was funny and really adorable, and Lindsay grew into quite a pretty young lady. With Tyra Banks in it I though the movie was going to be one big fashion shoot, but I was happily mistaken, because she could both act and sing well. Lindsay Lohan, of course, was perfect, and Jerry Burns did a great job as well. :)

A pretty good film, I really loved the cast rather than the scrispt, so I think that it's worth watching, especially when Lindsay Lohan stars in it. My second comment is that I didsn't really enjoy the script. It was quite childish. But, the rest was great.

Once again Lindsay Lohan and Tyra Banks are fabulous!!
tj_jt28 December 2005
Warning: Spoilers
Is there any other word you could think of to describe Tyra Banks other than fabulous? She's as beautiful as any doll you've ever come across...

And that's exactly what she is in this movie: A doll!

Casey is given a doll for her birthday by her widowed father's friend, but she's not interested. All Casey cares about is her dead Mum and she'll do anything to get her back. Casey finds a book which contains a spell to bring back the dead, a re-awakening spell and tries to use it to bring back her Mum, but it all goes horribly wrong! Instead Casey wakens her doll and brings her to life! At first Casey is very upset and hates Eve, her doll, for ruining her chance of having her Mum back, but then gradually she gets to know Eve and appreciates her... She even learns that she can't bring back her Mum, she's gone and she has to live with it and love her Dad with all her might, she still has him and needs to appreciate him more too... But then Eve goes too and both Casey and her Dad are distraught, but they still have each other!

This is a beautiful movie in my opinion, especially for little girls, but personally...

I can't wait to go and buy this movie in the shops!!!! A must see for any young family or for any young or teen girls! Especially Tyra Banks fans like myself, or Lindsay Lohan fans!

Awesome!
