The literal translation of the title of this movie is: the suicide contract.

The naming of this film is probably the cause of its box office failure because suicide is a topic that is usually avoided if not condemned by the traditional Chinese culture. As a matter of fact, there is a cliche in Chinese saying that: It is better to live miserably than die happily. This Chinese cliche mirrors one of the most typical characteristic of most Chinese: Endurance. Despite the hardships, most Chinese endured and survived.
