Bigger than Final Fantasy 6.....

......Eh, well at least at my household anyways. I have always preferred Square's other games than just the obnoxiously repetitive FF series.

I would rather deal with a plot that has to do with deep spiritualism, the nature of human and human-like beings, creative magical system (the spell out your mantra system), and plenty of strange and diverse cast of characters with distinct and deep personalities of his or her own; rather than deal with the Teeny-Bopping angst of fitting in, endless cinema and very little gameplay. The only gripe is that even though the create-a-spell system was interesting concept, but the characters had no special abillities of their own. Oh well, at least outside of the gameplay, the characters are likable.

I like how Rudra no Hihou balances out different formats as well. As serious as the game was, at least they balance out with humor, GOOD HUMOR!

It was also good for it's morals as well. Rudra no Hihou like many classic RPGs of its time did not talk down to gamers nor underestimate their intelligence for that matter. I my honest opinion, this game should be re-relased legally.

Now Rudra is dubbed in English online and is ready to play.

P.S. I think Riza and Foxy are far cuter and more tolerable than Tifa or Lulu.

Warning: Spoilers
"Rudora no Hihou" is basically "The Dark Crystal" of RPGs,it is so wonderful, but sadly, games like this are never made anymore.

Warning:*SPOILERS LIE AHEAD*

This games deals with three heroes(Cion,Surlent,Riza and Dun) and the struggles that lie in their path.Such as Cion losing his eye to a Kyojin warrior and wanting to be the lead swordsman of the Kryunu dynasty;Surlent getting killed and re-incarnated again, because a vampire/ghost stole his body and dealing with the fact about himself;Riza searching for people and even kills her mom on accident(!),plus, she's (I think) a Demi-Goddess and well,Dun,he doesn't appear until later in the game and is a very mischivious man. They all must join together with many other warriors(some aren't even human!) and stop the 4,000 year apocalypse,as well as putting an end to mankind's evil ways(such as nuclear energy abuse and taking land from the other species of the world). The races of the world are the Danan espers,Water sprites,Anthropomorphic reptile-people,Kyojin Giants and of course, the humans whom must help them.

All the characters are beautifully done and the storyline is well fleshed-out.You couldn't help, but to go back to this game.

"Rudora",alongside "Illusion of Gaia","Seiken Densetsu" and "Treasure Hunter G" are some of the best games the Super Famicom had to offer and that is when gamers got their filet mignons while gamers now-a-days are getting Oscar Meyer wieners!

This is my game."Rudra's Treasure" is one of THE best R.P.Gs out there that never made it to the west!

This game has everything an RPG fan wants.Great chara development outside the battle planner (Especially me and Garlyle and all the heroes.),Excellent storyline (Amemiya-sama!You ROCK!),wonderful Soundtrack and not to mention....the KOTODAMA word essence magic system.Yes,the system that lets you litteraly spell out your own magic spells. The flaw was that we did not get our own limit break-like moves.Oh Well,I've talked too much.

If you don't import or download, you are missing out on a great game!

Another game that SHOULD'VE been release in the USA.
BlazeFox11 October 2005
Rudora no Hihou (or Treasure of Rudora) is a game for the SNES/SuperFamicom made by Squaresoft. The game is your typical RPG except with one important difference; you can make your own spells as well as learn spells from enemies. The downside is that the process is done by combinations of kanji (the Japanese alphabet), but once you get the hang of it, spell-making is as easy. Since Square didn't think this game would appeal to Americans, it was never released over here.

Thanks to emulation and fan-made translation patches you can play this great game in English. The game centers around aspects of dharmic religion, in partical the wheel of time. Rudora (Rudra) is the God which destroys the world every 4000 years so that a new world can be born. The story takes place during the 15 final days before the race known as 'humans' are to be eradicated and a new race is to be made. I won't say much more for fear of accidental spoilers. ^^;;;;

A cult classic RPG video game by the talented Keita Amemiya.
Akiosan6 February 2003
Rudra no Hihou (Rudra's Treasure) is probably one of the best games Squaresoft and CROWD inc. made together. Not only is it best of Square or Amemiya, but best Super Famicom RPG ever made, PEROD!

Here is why:

GRAPHICS 10/10

What is this? Is this playstation game? What!? Super Nintendo!? HOLY CRAP!!! These graphics are simply amazing, they are nearly 32 bit graphics on a 16 system, everything looks excellent, the sprites, the enemies (Who are not just static images, they're actual moving sprites) and especially the backdrops. The terrain is colorful and pretty to look at, it beats the hell out of FFIV's crap overworld and is almost as good as FFVI! The battle animations look extremely cool and everything is just... INCREDIBLE!!!

SOUNDS 10/10

Man, the music of this game ROCKS! Every single theme in the game rules! My favs are Surlent's theme, the Battle and Boss themes which just completely kick every Final Fantasy ever made's ass, and that extremely spooky theme you sometimes here. The sound effects are clear and satifying. Though they mostly sound like different varieties of THWACK noises, they are still quite satisfying and neat.

GAMEPLAY 10/10

By far the most fast paced and exciting RPG I've ever played. Fortunately that ATB crap is nowhere to be found so matches are fast paced, fun and your in no rush to choose your attacks. The magic system rules too, you actually get to customize magic in a very cool matter, you do this by talking to some drunken wizard you often meet at a bar and select and magic for him to change, there are also different ways to do this too but I'm not quite sure just yet. Boss fights also require alot of strategy and thinking, they dont just do random attacks. Overall, this game ROCKS!

PLOT (10/10): Every 4000 years, on an un-named planet, there is a cycle of ressurection and destruction. The victims of this cacalysmic events were a race of mystics called Danans, Amphibion-like Fish Sprites (Mizushu-Sai), Repltilian people (Hahchu-Rui) and Giants (Kyojin). Now, it is up to the fifth race, the Humanoids, are the dominate race of this planet and it is up to four sacred warriors to team up with the various races and put an end to the cycle of ressurection and destruction. The plot gets deeper on here when you play as each of the four lead characters.

CHARACTERS (10/10): There are plenty of interesting characters in the game. And another thing, Rudra no Hihou also shows us that there are no actual pure good and evil, but one side out balances the other (Yin and Yang), thus, making shades of grey in between. Wish every RPG would be like that.

CHALLENGE: Rather difficult for foreigners. Don't expect to beat this game too quickly folks.

OVERALL (10/10): ''Rudra no Hihou'' is one of the most powerful and enjoyable RPGs of our time. Rumor has it that there is a French release on the computers, so dowload it if you can!

PS, Surlent and Dune rule!
