A remade, completed version of Drácula, Uma História de Amor (1980), which was canceled on Tupi TV due to a financial crisis on that network. Creators Walter Avancini and Rubens Ewald Filho both returned.
Stars Bruna Lombardi and Carlos Alberto Riccelli were fired one month before the series finale. They were a couple in real life and had been missing from production since New Years's Eve. Cláudia Alencar's character Alcina then took over as Dracula's love interest.
Writer Rubens Ewald Filho was fired from the show as to tone down the sex and nudity. He was replaced by Jaime Camargo, who failed to give the story a direction and dropped out. Consuelo de Castro then took over for the remainder of the series.
Along with Drácula, Uma História de Amor (1980), this series predates the two more famous vampire telenovelas on Brazilian TV: Vamp (1991) and O Beijo do Vampiro (2002).
