  Mother : Well, I don't see her getting up with you in the morning.

  Mother : Johnny, you forgot your muffler.

  Johnny Horton : [shortly]  It ain't cold out.

  [Johnny starts to leave again but his mother grabs him by the arm] 

  Mother : Do me a favor. Wear your muffler.

  Johnny Horton : I don't want it!

  Mother : What do I have to do, beg you?

  Johnny Horton : No, you just have to believe me. It ain't cold out!

  Mother : I tell you it is!

  Johnny Horton : And I say the radio says it ain't!

  Mother : Well, my word is as good as theirs!

  [She wraps the muffler around Johnny's neck] 

  Mother : And the radio ain't gonna take care of you if you get sick.

  [Johnny turns around to leave again] 

  Mother : You forgot your hat!

  Johnny Horton : I ain't gonna wear no hat!

  Mother : Johnny, they'll think you're crazy looking at you wearin' a muffler and no hat!

  [Johnny furiously tears the scarf off] 

  Johnny Horton : Well, then, I ain't gonna wear no muffler!
