Known in some circles as the “fan favorite” award, the title of Miss Congeniality on “RuPaul’s Drag Race” is a prize handed out to the queen most representative of kindness and for having strong sisterly bonds with the other girls. Up until Season 10, the award was voted on by the audience, but has since been selected by the cast members themselves, and is buttressed by a cash prize that has ranged from $1,500 to $10,000. Due to a historic tie in Season 16 between Sapphira Cristal and Xunami Muse, there have now been 17 total contestants awarded the title, many of whom have returned to compete at least one more time on various “All Stars” cycles. Which “fan favorite” queen is Your all-time fave? Read on for the “RuPaul’s Drag Race” Miss Congeniality winners. Gallery originally published April 2023.

They will be competing for a $200,000 grand prize, but for the first time in “Drag Race” herstory, the money will be donated to the charity of the winner’s choosing. The prize is supplied through The Palette Fund, a private foundation “dedicated to breaking down barriers and advancing social change in communities that are under-resourced and facing significant challenges,” according to an official release.

Whether it’s comedy, romance, action, or presenting a more serious character, actress Sandra Bullock has demonstrated her versatility across various genres. Despite delivering numerous standout performances, she has acknowledged not all her films have met the standard, particularly sequels like the 2005 comedy film Miss Congeniality 2: Armed and Fabulous.
Sandra Bullock in Crash
The actress has candidly expressed regret about her involvement in this sequel, which has since become one of the worst movies of her career. However, despite the negative reception surrounding the sequel, she had one positive aspect of working on the film, having the opportunity to work with the great Regina King.

The musicians have signed on to play themselves in cameo roles in Rob Reiner’s sequel to his 1984 cult classic This is Spinal Tap, which Reiner has begun shooting in New Orleans.
Reiner is reprising his onscreen role as documentarian Martin “Marty” Dibergi in Spinal Tap 2, with the film’s original cast of Michael McKean, Christopher Guest and Harry Shearer also returning to play frontman David St. Hubbins, guitarist Nigel Tufnel and bassist Derek Smalls. As any Spinal Tap fan knows, finding a percussionist will be an issue, as the band tends to lose their drummers to freak gardening accidents and other mishaps.
Paul McCartney, Elton John and Garth Brooks have also signed on for cameo appearances in the new film. The plot of Spinal Tap 2 has the iconic English hair metal rockers reuniting for one final concert.

One of my favorite "Buffy The Vampire Slayer" characters is Anya Jenkins (Emma Caulfield), the Vengeance Demon turned human. She's introduced as the villain of the season 3 episode "The Wish," in which Cordelia (Charisma Carpenter) wishes for a world where Buffy (Sarah Michelle Gellar) never came to Sunnydale. When Anya makes Cordelia's wish come true, vampires end up ruling the town in the Slayer's absence.
Restoring the proper timeline robbed Anya of her powers; she's stuck as just another teenager attending Sunnydale High (and flunking math). Initially resentful of her new life, she eventually falls for Xander (Nicholas Brendon), and by season 4, she's part of the Scooby gang, sharing duties with her boyfriend as the show's comic relief.
Anya is hilarious; much of the humor in "Buffy" is sardonic, but she's oblivious. Having spent centuries as a vengeance demon, modern socialization skills escape her. Anya can be just as cutting or rude as the others,...

Hopefully, you’ve already read this week’s weekend movie preview, so you know that “Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé,” “Godzilla Minus One,” the revenge thriller “Silent Night” and more will be opening on this slow weekend coming up, so we can focus on the rest of the month, including the lucrative weeks around Christmas Day.
Oddly, the top three movies for the rest of the month might all be from the same studio, which is something fairly unheard of, even and especially during the holidays. Read on for Gold Derby’s December 2023 box office preview.

Jason Momoa returns with this “Justice League” superhero in the sequel to the DC movie that opened with $67.8 million almost exactly five years ago and ended up making $1.1 billion globally, not bad for a superhero that’s often been treated as a joke on “Saturday Night Live” to “Entourage.

HBO’s drag makeover series “We’re Here” is getting a “large and in charge” addition.
Latrice Royale will join previously announced new hosts Jaida Essence Hall, Priyanka and Sasha Velour for Season 4, TheWrap has learned.
Production on the upcoming season began in July. The new queens will continue the goal of the series to spread love and connection through the art of drag across small-town America. This season will focus on two U.S. towns over the course of six episodes, taking an in-depth and more immersive look at the local political systems and participants, anti-lgbtq legislation and opposition and their effect on the LGBTQ community.
Latrice Royale, the self-proclaimed “large and in charge, chunky yet funky” fan-favorite from “RuPaul’s Drag Race,” first competed in Season 4, where she was named Miss Congeniality after placing fourth.

Max, formerly known as HBO Max, has rolled out its first Top 10 lists in an effort to increase engagement with its best films and series.
Atop the inaugural podium for series are “Hard Knocks” (NFL training camp with the New York Jets), “And Just Like That…,” and “Winning Time,” a series about the Los Angeles Lakers of the ’80s.
Leading movies are DC disappointment “The Flash,” Bishop Sycamore high-school football documentary “Bs High,” and 2015 Will Ferrell/Kevin Hart prison comedy “Get Hard.”
It measures only those series that released a new episode on the platform within the last six weeks period and movies that debuted within the last eight weeks. Those are the windows when hits usually happen; you’ll see movies a heck of a lot older then “Get Hard” on Max’s top 10. Linear tune-in via HBO or the Discovery cable channels does not count toward Max’s Top 10.

For the past 10 years, RuPaul’s Drag Race has delighted fans with the Rusical — a musical production during each season that features the remaining contestants performing their take on a famous show. The concept has become somewhat of a staple on the series, though none have been quite as topical as Season 15’s Wigloose.
“Like everything on RuPaul’s Drag Race for 15 season, it started with a bad pun. We’ve done 10 years of musicals. It’s one of our favorite things. We always are brainstorming year round, really, about what would work…we thought, ‘We’ll just do a fun parody of the Footloose story, which is about a town that didn’t have dances, so we’ll do a town that doesn’t have drag,” executive producer Tom Campbell said during the show’s panel at Deadline’s Contenders Television: The Nominees event, where he was joined by Season 15 winner...

Los Angeles, Aug 3 (Ians) Oscar winning actress Sandra Bullock’s romance with photographer Bryan Randall is on a shaky ground, and might need a “miracle” to work.
The ‘Miss Congeniality’ star, 59, and Randall, 57, had a “cooling-off period” in 2022 during which they lived apart.
As per Daily Mail, their chances of reconciliation are now “a long shot”, it said quoting US Weekly.
“The feeling is Sandra might be hoping for some type of miracle — that they’ll work things out after this long cooling-off period,” a source said.
The source stated that the actress, who was spotted with a handsome mystery man in Los Angeles last month, and Randall have been cordial during their on-off romance.
The two began dating in August 2015 after Bullock hired Randall to photograph her son Louis’ birthday earlier that year. The actress adopted son Louis in 2010 and daughter Laila in 2015.

Summer isn’t over yet but HBO and its streaming arm Max are already moving on to fall. With its list of new releases for August 2023, Max is focusing on football! The American kind, mind you, not the actually footy kind.
August 2023 sees the release of two major football documentaries on HBO and Max. The first is the premiere of Hard Knocks on Aug. 10. The new season of long-running NFL training camp docuseries will center on the New York Jets, new employers of legendary quarterback Aaron Rodgers. On Aug. 23, Max will air the aptly named Bs High. The doc tells the stranger-than-fiction story of high school football team Bishop Sycamore, which pulled off one of the more notable sports scams you’re likely to ever hear about.
Not of the football variety but in keeping with the North American sports theme will be season 2 of Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty on Aug.

Free streaming platforms like LG Channels seemingly add new channels all the time. There are more than 1,500 free ad-supported TV (Fast) channels available in the United States alone, and the amount of time consumers spent watching these channels increased in April, despite it normally being a period where TV watching decreases across the industry.
One thing Fast platforms don’t normally offer, however, are a lot of is live sports. But users of the free streaming service LG Channels will see that change this month, as the service is adding several live events to the schedule on the NCAA Championships Channel (channel 100), including tennis, lacrosse, and track and field events from both the NCAA’s Division II and Division III.
The live sporting events coming to the NCAA Championships Channel starting May 17 include:
Date Time (Et) Event Wednesday, May 17 12 noon Diii Women’s Team Tennis Finals Sunday, May 21 2 p.m.

The ongoing Hollywood writers’ strike casts a cloud over what otherwise promises to be a solid Cannes film market. Most buyers and sellers came out of Berlin this year “cautiously optimistic” as the (partial) resurgence of the theatrical market alongside a slowly but steadily growing digital ancillary business offers reason to believe reports of the death of the indie industry — widespread in the wake of the Covid theater shutdowns — have been greatly exaggerated.
“I see the investment by Amazon and Apple TV in the theatrical business as a real positive,” says David Garrett of Mister Smith Entertainment, “because it shows they recognize the real value of the theatrical experience.” Amazon’s success with Ben Affleck’s sports-marketing biopic Air, which grossed upwards of $80 million worldwide in theaters before going out online, bodes well for the upcoming rollout of Apple’s Cannes title Killers of the Flower Moon from Martin Scorsese,...

“Aladdin” and “Charlie’s Angels” breakout Naomi Scott will star alongside “Game of Thrones” alum Kit Harrington and Oscar winner Jeremy Irons in the epic romance “Eternal Return,” Variety can report exclusively. Village Roadshow Pictures is producing the project and will introduce the film to buyers at next week’s Cannes Film Festival.
“Eternal Return” follows Cass (Scott), a young woman who has resigned herself to a life of emotional invulnerability until she meets Virgil (Harington), a cartographer who makes maps to imaginary places. Along with his partner Malcolm (Irons), a vibrant renaissance man, the pair relentlessly attempts to travel back in time to awaken Cass to love again. The original feature is written and directed by Yaniv Raz (“Dr. Bird’s Advice for Sad Poets”).
Jillian Apfelbaum, Tristen Tuckfield, and Nic Gordon are overseeing the project for Village Roadshow. They will produce alongside Scott and Jordan Spence’s New Name Entertainment.

Patricia Arquette is an Emmy favorite nowadays, and she’s not even “High Desert’s” most decorated performer. Between her, Brad Garrett (“Everybody Loves Raymond”), Rupert Friend (“Homeland”) and Bernadette Peters (“Ally McBeal”), the main cast of Apple TV+’s upcoming comedy series from “Miss Congeniality” writer Katie Ford and creative partners Nancy Fichman and Jennifer Hoppe-House has a total of 16 acting nominations and five wins.
Set in Yucca Valley, California, “High Desert” follows addict and former dealer Peggy Newman (Arquette), who decides to become a private investigator following her mother’s (Peters) death. Along Peggy’s hazardous journey toward self-discovery, she meets the uptight business owner who hires her (Garrett) and an anchorman-turned-desert-shaman (Friend). Other characters include her on-and-off parolee lover (Matt Dillon), best friend (Weruche Opia) and sister (Christine Taylor).

Andrew Levitt — best known as his bubbly, mama bear drag persona Nina West — is no stranger to life on the road. In addition to a laundry list of film and TV credits, the “RuPaul’s Drag Race” Season 11 fan-favorite and Miss Congeniality winner has for years toured the country as Nina and, more recently, as the beloved Edna Turnblad in the national tour of “Hairspray.” (The latter begins its three-week stint at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on Tuesday.)
But it’s only within the last year that touring in any capacity has begun to feel dangerous. Anti-drag bills are sweeping across the U.S., with Tennessee banning public drag shows as of March, and over a dozen other states introducing similar legislation, including Arizona, Kentucky and Oklahoma. Levitt’s holiday drag revue, “A Drag Queen Christmas,” toured 35 dates between Thanksgiving and New Year’s, and he, in conversation with TheWrap,...

Are you ready for the “Fame Games”? For the first time in herstory, RuPaul Charles is shaking up the competition in “RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars” Season 8 to allow two methods of success. “There are two ways to win,” Mama Ru tells her 12 comeback contestants in the video trailer above. (See the cast list right here.) “The first is the traditional way,” the host explains, and that comes with the normal $200,000 cash prize. In the second way, “fans will determine which of our eliminated queens will win Queen of the Fame Games,” and they’ll receive a not-too-paltry $50,000.
