There's some rebellion afoot in this three-reeler from Sidney Olcott's unit in Ireland. Jack Melville as Emmett dons a disguise to winkle out the plot.
Olcott not only directs this movie, he has a major role in it. As a movie it's pretty rank, making extensive use of the illustrated text method of telling a story, a technique that had fallen out of favor by then, although retained for epics. On the plus side of the ledger, the unnamed cameraman shoots the exteriors in a loving manner, with much of the dull action taking place in front of Ireland's lovely geography and buildings.
