Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax, the beloved children’s story that’s also its author’s favorite work, opens in theaters on March 2nd. To promote the film’s release, Collider got to participate in the press junket and sit down with actor Ed Helms, who lends his voice to the iconic role of the Once-ler, the old and bitter hermit whose greed got the better of him. While we will run what he had to say about the film closer to its release date, we did want to share what he had to say about his next feature film, Jeff Who Lives at Home (due out in theaters on March 16th), which he is clearly very proud of, the current status of The Hangover 3, and how much fun he’s been having as the office manager on the NBC comedy series The Office. Check out what he had to say...

Madonna is still uncharacteristically silent over M.I.A. upstaging her performance during the Super Bowl halftime show but the Queen of Pop has announced dates for her 2012-13 world tour, which starts in Tel Aviv, Israel, on May 29, hits North America in August, and ends in Australia in early 2013.

As for M.I.A., there were reports she would personally have to pay any FCC fines for her middle finger, but The Hollywood Reporter says the agency is unlikely to act against NBC. CBS was fined $550,000 for Janet Jackson's wardrobe malfunction in 2004.

Andy Lewis, the tightrope guy who made many men uncomfortable by bouncing hard on his crotch during the show, tells TMZ "My nuts are fine," and that he's been doing it so long that "over time your nuts harden to steel."

Okay, for the very first time, I sat down and watch the entire game between the New England Patriots and the New York Giants, why? Because I was anticipating the Madonna half-time show! I think she delivered and showed to the world that she's still the Queen of Pop. Love her as a performer, but as a director? "W.E." is a totally different story!
But I digress.
We're here to talk about the boatload of movie trailers that were supposed to tease us. Were you teased? Which one is your favorite Super Bowl movie trailer?
My heart belonged to "The Avengers" even though the last shot of the trailer looked just like a bunch of people in funny costumes trying to save the world.
My least favorite? Do I really have to endure Jar Jar Binks again in "Star Wars: The Phantom Menace" 3D or not?
So without further adieu,...

Super Bowl Spot: ‘Act Of Valor’ Super Bowl Spot: ‘Marvel’s The Avengers’ Super Bowl Spot: ‘John Carter’ Super Bowl Spot: ‘Battleship’ Super Bowl Spot: ‘Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax’ The DVR company can tell what Super Bowl-related ads its customers watched, and re-watched, last night. And movie studios fared poorly in this tally, once again. None of the Hollywood ads made the top 10. The top performer among the movie promos was the pre-game preview for Paramount’s The Dictator, which ranked 24th among all ads in and around the game. Disney’s The Avengers was next at No. 43, followed by Fox’s Star Wars in 3D (No. 48), Paramount’s G.I. Joe: Retaliation (No. 53), Universal’s minute-long spot for Battleship (No. 61), Relativity’s Act Of Valor (No. 66), Universal’s Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax (No. 68), Disney’s John Carter (No. 75), and Universal’s Safe House (No. 100). What ads did viewers like? Nacho Cheese ranked No.

While most of the movie spots — The Avengers, Battleship and John Carter, to name a few — that aired during yesterday's Super Bowl were geared toward male adults in the 18-35 age range, Universal Pictures bet on the fact that plenty of kids would be watching the game, too, and plunked down big bucks to air a new TV spot for Illumination Entertainment's (Despicable Me) latest animated feature, The Lorax.
Co-written by Cinco Paul and Ken Daurio (Despicable Me), and co-directed by Paul and Chris Renaud (Despicable Me), The Lorax brings Dr. Seuss' classic children's story about the dangers of corporate greed and environmental destruction to the big screen in dazzling "Tree-d." Previous trailers for Illumination Entertainment’s 3D animated treatment of Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax have focused on selling the film as a brightly colorful flick with a child-friendly sense of humor, but also one that retains the themes of the good “doctor’s” original illustrated environmental parable.
Buzz surrounding Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax is pretty positive for that reason, in combination with the news that the minds behind the popular feature-length CGI version of Horton Hears a Who! are likewise giving cinematic life to Seuss’ eponymous speaker-for-the-trees. The new Super Bowl Xlvi TV promo for the film should only further improve its image as a quality piece of entertainment for the whole family.

“I am the Lorax. I speak for the trees. I speak for the trees for the trees have no tongues.”
― Dr. Seuss, The Lorax
It was nearly thirty years ago when beloved children’s story author Theodor Seuss Geisel, otherwise known as the master of whimsical rhyme, Dr. Seuss, published what was to become one of his most beloved and enduring works: The Lorax - the tale of the Lorax who speaks for the trees, and the Once-ler the embodiment of greed. An allegory that presents the struggle between unchecked industry, as represented by the Once-ler (a faceless figure), and an environment in need of defending, as represented by the Lorax.

Back in October, Collider was invited to Illumination Entertainment in Santa Monica, in order to preview some footage of Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax. As a lifelong fan of the Dr. Seuss stories, and some of my earliest memories being connected to them, I was excited to get a glimpse of what audiences will get to see, when the film opens in theaters on March 2nd. In an office surrounded by character merchandise and sculptures, it’s easy to see that producer Chris Meledandri is as much of a fan of the Dr. Seuss legacy as the audiences who love the work, generation after generation. Something about the stories of Dr. Seuss makes the reader or viewer feel like a kid again, and makes kids feel a sense of wonder, and The Lorax will clearly be no exception. In case you’re not familiar with the story of The Lorax, the...

In the last four years, Chris Meledandri has carved out quite a remarkable niche for himself and his company, Illumination Entertainment, becoming one of the most reliable hitmakers in animated entertainment, using his experiences at Walt Disney Pictures and 20th Century Fox Animation to make box office home runs out of “Despicable Me” and “Hop” for Universal Pictures. His latest project, ”Dr. Seuss' The Lorax,” brings him back to his days at Fox, where he supervised “Horton Hears A Who,” and creates another vivid, exciting Dr. Seuss adaptation in collaboration with directors Chris Renaud and Kyle Balda. Late last year, The Playlist visited Illusion Entertainment’s Santa Monica campus, where Meledandri previewed footage from “The Lorax” and fielded questions about adapting Dr. Seuss’ work for the screen. Additionally, he talked about the source material’s environment message, and reflected on the...

Dr. Seuss is one of those writers whom we will never forget. A couple of months ago, the trailer for the most recent adaptation of a Dr. Seuss book, The Lorax, was released. To put it bluntly, it looks absolutely amazing. With bright eye-popping visuals, wonderful voice work from Danny Devito, and a quirky sense of humor, it seems poised to be a great animated feature that captures the spirit and style of the book. It's one of the few movies that I can't wait to be able to see in 3D. But, you wouldn't know any of that from the new Spanish poster that's popped up online via Internet Movie Poster Awards.

The Lucky One
Directed by: Scott Hicks
Starring: Zac Efron, Taylor Schilling, Blythe Danner
Rating: PG-13
Release Date: April 20, 2012
Trailer Score: 3/10
Thoughts by Tsr: Even before his name popped up on the screen, I knew this had to come from a Nicholas Sparks novel. All the elements were there: an upright soldier searching for something, a hot, “good” woman, and a beautiful country settings. This one’s a widow with a child and the guy is a creepy stalker, I mean upright soldier who “found” her picture while in Iraq. So he comes to help the widow and her adorable child, while trying to sleep with her, I mean “fall in love.” If I was describing something that happened to your friend instead of movie characters, you would urge her to take out a restraining order. But because of the dissolves and uplifting music, it’s all sweet and romantic.

Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax
Directed by: Chris Renaud, Kyle Balda
Starring: Ed Helms, Danny DeVito, Zac Efron
Rating: Unrated
Release Date: March 2, 2012
Trailer Score: 6/10
Thoughts by Tsr:
The Lorax is my favorite Dr. Seuss book. It combines environmentalism and whimsy in a way that’s never been duplicated. But this preview worries me. Not only because I haven’t liked a single Dr. Seuss movie, but because of the weird coming-of-age romance that seems to be squashed into the trailer so awkwardly. I never felt that the kid who talks to the Once-ler needed to have a backstory. I’m also concerned about how emotionally manipulative the trailer music is. Already the filmmakers seem to be beating the audience over the head with their message about protecting trees. Though I agree with the message, that kind of heavy-handedness always makes me want to go litter or something, just to be ornery.

Universal is celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2012 and will commemorate its centennial with a yearlong celebration honoring the studio’s rich film history and cultural legacy, which, as every horror fan knows, includes a plethora of genre films. A significant element of the centennial includes the extensive restoration of 13 of the studio’s most beloved titles, 6 of which are near and dear to our hearts.
Because of the enormity of Universal's campaign, we're going to provide the full press release below, but note that the horror highlight is definitely the upcoming restoration of The Birds, Dracula (1931), Dracula Spanish (1931), Frankenstein, Jaws, and Bride of Frankenstein.
From the Press Release:
Universal Studios Home Entertainment will kick off the celebration in January with a special 50th anniversary release of To Kill a Mockingbird, debuting on Blu-ray for the first time ever. Throughout the year Universal will pay tribute to other influential films in...

Paramount Pictures isn’t the only one celebrating its centennial. Its competitor, Universal Pictures, is also celebrating its 100th year as a movie studio. So how does a movie studio as large as Universal Pictures celebrate such a momentous occasion? Well you restore 13 of your classic titles which includes All Quiet on the Western Front, The Birds, Buck Privates, Dracula (1931) , Frankenstein, Jaws, Schindler’s List, Out of Africa, Pillow Talk, Bride of Frankenstein, The Sting, and To Kill a Mockingbird. To Kill a Mockingbird would be the first movie that will be restored and released Blu-ray/DVD/Digital Copy combo pack on January 31st. All of the restored titles will be released on a limited edition collector’s set, and near the end of the year we can look forward to Blu-ray releases for Universal’s Classic Monster and Alfred Hitchcock series. I am already eyeing Jaws, Schindler’s List,...

Universal and Paramount are both celebrating their centennial anniversary in 2012, and like Paramount [1], Universal is debuting a new logo to mark the occasion. That logo will bow on March 2 in front of Dr. Seuss' The Lorax, and be on all Universal films going forward. The studio is doing something much better than that, however. A press release announces that Universal will also restore thirteen classic films this year. The films are: All Quiet on the Western Front, The Birds, Buck Privates, Dracula (1931), Dracula (Spanish, 1931), Frankenstein, Jaws, Schindler’s List, Out of Africa, Pillow Talk, Bride of Frankenstein, The Sting and To Kill a Mockingbird. Precise details of the restorations are yet to be revealed. Many of those will hit Blu-ray, starting with To Kill a Mockingbird this month; Jaws and E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial will follow, with 2012 finishing off with Blu-ray releases of Universal's classic monster lineup and Alfred Hitchcock films.

When the first official image from Paramount Pictures’ Hansel & Gretel Witch Hunters was unveiled, the plan was (reportedly) to release an official trailer for the R-Rated fairy tale spinoff about a week later.
Obviously, that didn’t happen and now we have a better idea of why: Paramount has decided to hold off on releasing the fantastical Gemma Arterton-Jeremy Renner teamup in Spring of 2012. Instead, the studio has selected to push the film back all the way to January 11th, 2013, for (official) reasons that have yet to be revealed.
Hansel & Gretel Witch Hunters was originally slated to open on March 2nd, 2012, where it would have faced off against the bubbly kid-friendly adaptation of Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax and the raunchy teen comedy/faux documentary Project X. Considering that Witch Hunters is a ...

Hooper is expected to start shooting in March on his feature film adaptation of Victor Hugo’s book and the longest-running stage musical in the world. Jackman plays the lead, Jean Valjean, an ex-convict who seeks redemption. Russell Crowe is Inspector Javert, so we’ll find out if he can sing. Anne Hathaway, who twirled with Jackman at the Academy Awards two years ago, is playing Fantine. Plus Sacha Baron Cohen as Thenardier the thief, Helena Bonham Carter as Cohen’s wife, and Eddie Redmayne (My Week with Marilyn) as Marius Pontmercy.
