No one will ever forget the 80s when Jane Fonda set the world on fire with her series of workout videos on VHS. Not only were they filled with unintentional humor, they were a huge hit. Millions of copies were sold and as soon as these videos became popular, celebrity agents all around the country must have went nuts. Why? Because why not create a celebrity fitness video using your client who has never had any physical fitness or expertise in the past? Makes sense, right? In much the same way some celebrities create music videos because they or their

Whenever Joaquin Phoenix appears on a talk show, there's always a chance that most of what he says is going to be made up. When the actor sat down with Ellen DeGeneres, she made sure to call him out on it.
After Joaquin shared a sweet moment with Ellen, explaining how his family watched her stand-up comedy special on Christmas this year, Ellen thanked him, and even said she believed him.
Video: Ellen DeGeneres Secretly Records Portia De Rossi Doing a Jane Fonda Workout
When Phoenix asked her why she wouldn't believe him, Ellen took the opportunity to broach the subject of the star's dubious history with talk show interviews.
"You lie on talk shows. Every time I’ve ever seen you!" Ellen said, referring, most recently, to the Inherent Vice star's "announcement" on the Late Show in December that he had gotten engaged to his yoga instructor. The next day he admitted it was a lie.

Jane Fonda has had plenty of memorable roles, but her biggest performance ever was one she had no faith in. On "Late Night," she said she was certain that her 1982 fitness video, "Workout: Starring Jane Fonda," would be a huge flop.
“Well, I knew no one that owned the thing to play a videotape," Fonda said. "Nobody did. There was no video industry. It was too much money. And I thought, ‘Oh, they’ll pay me some money and I’ll do it,’ and I don’t know.”
But then the tape turned into a bona fide sensation, going on to sell 17 million copies -- making it the highest-grossing home video of all time. After that, Fonda went on to produce 26 more workout tapes. And she's still keeping fit and motivating others to do the same. Her latest series, "Jane Fonda's Prime Time," targets senior citizens.

Jane Fonda may not have a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame (yet), but she’s getting something better.
All it took was two Oscar wins, a Hollywood pedigree, and a lifetime in show business, but Jane Fonda is finally making her mark in Hollywood right outside of the legendary Tcl (formerly Grauman’s) Chinese Theater. This Saturday she’ll roll up her pants and sleeves to put her hand and footprints right next to her father’s (Henry Fonda) who got his spot at Grauman’s in 1942.
The 75-year-old actress is also being honored by the TCM Classic Film Festival.

Jane Fonda is back in her signature leotard and looking better than ever. The 74-year-old actress and fitness guru slipped back into the orignal spandex that made her a household name on the "Today" show with Kathie Lee and Hoda for a peek at her new exercise video for seniors, "Jane Fonda Prime Time."
Fonda first wore the black and red striped leotard on the cover of her 1981 fitness book Jane Fonda's Workout Book. And although she may still fit in the same leotard she wore 31 years ago, Fonda does admit that her new workouts are tailored to her more mature body.
"You want to get in and out of chairs without help, in and out of cars without help," Fonda explained of her new workout regiment that has her looking like she's been drinking from the fountain of youth.
Hoda even noticed that the leotard looked "kind of big" on Fonda's fit frame.

Fitness fanatic Jane Fonda is set to be honoured for her dedication to good health by editors at Shape magazine.
The veteran actress, who has released more than 20 exercise videos since 1982, will be presented with the Shape Your Life Award later this month and the Barbarella star has credited fitness gurus Jack Lalanne, Richard Simmons, Leni Cazden and Stuart Karl with her home video success.
In a post on her blog, she writes, "At Shape magazine's 30th birthday celebration in New York on October 26th, I am being presented with the the magazine's Shape Your Life Award. I feel very honoured by this. But I am also very cognisant of the people who made this possible for me...

"It blows my mind how many millions of people have embraced fitness as an overall lifestyle choice. Buried in this profile about how Paul Marcarelli (Verizon Wireless’ “Can You Hear Me Now?” guy) had his entire life controlled by the company who needed him to maintain his image is the little note that he got the job while living in a one bedroom apartment with his boyfriend. Which in retrospect, didn’t surprise me.

Today for the International Women's History Centennial, a few "firsts" in movies. Add some in the comments if you want! Mary was one of the founders of AMPAS and a studio founder too. She also commanded astronomical wealth.

Jane Fonda is back and hotter than ever. For the first time in over 15 years, at the age of 72 (though you'd never know it by looking at her), she is releasing a two DVD set for the senior crowd called Prime Time. In a recent Facebook chat with viral video producer Lisa Nova and a handful of bloggers, Jane talked about why doing an exercise series for people of her generation is important and how exercise has changed since the '80s.
Like thousands of other aerobic-crazed women in the '80s and '90s we used to "drive the big truck" with Jane on her original workout tapes. The actress-turned-political-activist pretty much invented the genre. She pointed out, "I didn't create the workout, but I put it on video and I popularized it and that changed everything. The sexy senior citizen (she's 72), recently relaunched her Jane Fonda Workout brand with a host of nubile young fitness trainers, and a line of new DVDs, but the former "Barbarella" star reminded Access Hollywood she got her start with the help of a turntable.

"When [medical professionals] say, 'You've got cancer' there's that moment of scary," Jane said on the "The Ellen DeGeneres Show." The actress is now cancer free after undergoing a procedure in November to have the non-invasive tumor removed. "I'm really lucky," said Jane. For many years, Jane Fonda was a ballet enthusiast, but after fracturing her foot while filming The China Syndrome she was no longer able to participate. To compensate, she began actively participating in aerobics and strengthening exercises under the direction of Leni Cazden. The Leni Workout became the Jane Fonda Workout and thus began a second career for her, which continued for many years. This was considered one of the influences that started the fitness craze among baby boomers who were then approaching middle age. In 1982, Fonda released her first exercise video, titled Jane Fonda's Workout, inspired by her best-selling book, Jane Fonda's Workout Book. The Jane Fonda's Workout video eventually sold 17 million copies: more than any other home video. The video's release led many people to buy the then-new Vcr in order to watch and perform the workout in the privacy and convenience of their own homes. Fonda subsequently released 23 workout videos,...

Jane Fonda is celebrating the success of her exercise comeback - after thousands of fitness fanatics gathered to break a sweat for her first annual World Fitness Day.
Fonda, now 72, became a fitness icon when her original Workout video hit shelves in 1982.
The actress transformed the Georgia Dome into a workout studio on Saturday to promote good health and exercise - and amazed fans by leading an aerobics class.
