Absolute unbelievable rubbish

I am addicted to this programme, but over the last year the acting is so bad I am disappearing from it as I can't take no more torture. They have brought in a new 📶 who to be honest her acting is absolutely awful, her voice is like dragging nails down blackboard, can't take anymore, so my plea to writers, please get some decent actors and better presentation as at the moment with the new receptionist has sent me over the top, so bye until you change your way, my nerves won't take anymore.

Can yu tell me were yu get yiur stories from and most importantly the actors, as let's be honest they are pretty bad.

What has happened?????

Scarlett just can't act, if I walked Into a Dr's surgery and was met by her, I'd walk back out Kirsty is totally totally rubbish, she absolutely cannot act The new one from corrie millie? Is pathetic, the voice is a headache it's self. Omg get her out. She couldn't act in corrie, I mean come on.

I've been watching this from the start and I am so unimpressed with the characters. It's such just a shame its got like this.

Al is brilliant. I'd love a Dr like him Jimi is great. Calm and listens.

The new male nurse is lovely Come on bbc...shake it up.

It's been dropping for a while.

Shot on a budget of 30 pence per episode, Doctors tells the story of the most peculiar GP surgery in all the land. "The Mill", as the surgery is called, exists in what appears to be so kind of post-apocalyptic England - I say it's post-apocalyptic because I have never seen such a depopulated place as Letherbridge (the town/city where the programme is set) - the surgery receives a maximum of 2 patients per day (you don't need to make an appointment, just rock up and demand to see the doctor of your choice immediately), the university appears to have no students and, whenever they're in the towns only bar, no other customers or members of staff are ever visible. This lack of patients enables the doctors to go on mad missions every day, visiting their only patient's house and sorting out any problems that they may have. The programme is so unrealistic that one wonders why they bothered to base it around a GP surgery, something that most viewers would have plenty of experience of. Seriously, the plot lines are absolutely mental - I suspect that they are created by the producers scrawling words on pieces of card and swirling them around inside a tombola machine before picking a few out and using them to string together some semblance of a coherent story. For example, last Friday's episode was created by picking the words "angina", "Los Angeles", "Down's Sydrome" and "phone sex". Basically, it's mental and, as the TV in my work's reception is permanently set to BBC1, I'm forced to endure it 5 days a week.

Care in the community

Set in a post apocalyptic town, the doctors spend more time out of the surgery getting involved in their patient's business. Fighting crime, family bust-ups, you name it.

The acting is generally average, bordering on the terrible sometimes.

BBC how dare you charge a license fee for this dross

The worst show I have ever had the misfortune of encountering. The acting is terrible, the characters are badly written and extremely annoying. I can't believe we are made to pay the licence fee to fund making this dross. I'm not sure how it has managed to remain on the air for 4 years so far!

I've been off work with an injury for a few.months now and have had the opportunity to sample the delights of daytime TV. I have caught this program on several occasions, it was on today as background noise while I was working on a cross-stitch. A new character has just been introduced as a temp and was instantly the most annoying and obnoxious character you could hope to encounter. Her voice and acting offended me so much I had to swear at the telly and turn over to a less annoying gardening program immediately.

This is one of the strangest things on TV. It is set in a bizarrely underpopulated Midlands superb called Leatherbridge which seems to be the dullest place in the country. It features a bar with no visible staff or customers, a university with no students, a police station with no criminals and a doctors' surgery with more doctors than patients. The story lines are dire - every episode revolves round a bizarre medical issue acted out by a variety of brummie extras who can never actually act, and for some reason the doctor always ends up round their house solving their problem. Pretty entertaining for its pure comedy value, but I cannot believe that this thing actually masquerades as a serious drama. Bonkers.

wonderful show

'Doctors' is one of the best shows currently on British television. most shows on at the minute have hardly any realistic storyline or a high quality of acting whereas 'Doctors' has all of those.

the interaction between the actors on the show is wonderful and you can almost see the bond between them especially Stirling Gallacher (George) and her on-screen husband Sean Gleeson (Ronnie).

wonderful story lines keep this show fresh and interesting, each episode throws up something different weather it happens to be a patient storyline or something to do with the doctors, there's always something going on that'll surprise you.

hopefully this show will run for many more years and bring joy to more people.

Doctors is a drama serial about a group of doctors and other staff working in the fictional town of Letherbridge regarding their day to day lives and problems which may occur. There are 10 main characters who are shown in the opening credits, however there are many other recurring actors and special guests who make frequent appearances. This TV serial has been running for more than eight years with its success getting better with the show being awarded several awards in the past few British Soap Awards. Doctors is now one of five British soaps in the categories of the British Soap Awards being in front of other soaps such as Brookside, Family Affairs etc. The timing of Doctors is in the afternoon yet enjoy a modest success rating. I for one am lucky in that I am able to record on Sky plus and watch in my convenience.

Houses too posh

Why do all the patients have large posh houses. The kitchens are huge , this not a true reflection of patients. How does Valerie buy a large posh house on a receptionist wage the same as the Drs. Never known such a quiet Drs surgery as the staff are always drinking coffee , tea and eating in the kitchen.

This program contains worse actors than Hollyoaks

I feel that i could write better material whilst being in a coma. How has this not been cancelled.

Where can one start -far-fetched storyline, yet also extremely unimaginative -Actors and actresses mistime their cues frequently.

-Nobody sells their character or role, they are although fictional characters, extremely unbelievable and un-relatable.

I have never written a review on this platform before, you can check.... this can only suggest that i took time to write this review because this program is an insult to intelligence of any kind. I resent being ill but more so resent watching any of this absolute crock....

Absolutely love me a bit of doctors in the afternoon, I work early and trying to get home on time for this show really motivates me to work hard, the show seems really realistic and I can imagine real doctors feel like this is a documentary for them, in short, I highly recommend this excellent show, I'm going to have to knock it down a mark due to the episodes being shorter than they should be, 9/10

In spite of myself I like this show!! Yes it is rubbish, trite and soapy but I do enjoy it. It does not pretend to be high art or searing drama-it is what it is. One issue with this series is the believability. I have never known doctors to visit patients unbidden like they do in "Doctors". Every five minutes they are round at their patients' homes ministering to them and giving out advice, not telling them to keep taking the tablets etc like real doctors do. Some of the actors in this series are really quite good (usually the more experienced ones) the younger ones are obviously quite green. The story lines are becoming more bizarre as the series progress!! I have only just started watching it, about 3 months actually. There has been a Columbine-type shooting script (quite well done ) and a Misery-type one which just seemed too much! I would not be surprised if the Beeb move it to the evening schedule as some of the stuff is not really suited to daytime telly.

What an appalling show that insults one's intelligence - A doctors surgery that only sees 2 patients and answers 2 phone calls - really !!!! A doctors surgery where a receptionist has a loud standing argument in Reception with a GP over her relationship - really !!! A GP surgery where a Doctor gets engaged to a receptionist after weeks of knowing her - worst story lines ever and getting worse unfortunately- get rid of Valerie Pitman - what professional practice would employ her/ tolerate her ridiculous behaviour - get a grip BBC

Please just make it stop.

Damn this show for wasting Diane Keen's talents, the wonderful Diane has appeared in countless episodes of this nonsense, when she should have been gracing our screens in prime time, quality viewing.

I spent a week quite literally bed bound, and watched this show for a solid week, hoping to glimpse some kind of drama, or glimpse of reality.

What a truly awful watch, cheap, trashy, soulless TV, which surely ran out of mileage many years ago.

BBC please put this show out of its misery, clearly it costs three and nine to make an episode, but why not put the money aside for Father Brown, Mallorca Files or Shakespeare and Hathaway, shows people actually want to watch.

It's like a hideous student project.

One star is too much

This show is dire, the storylines are dire and the acting is dire. It's supposed to be set in the Midlands but the main character Nina seems to talk with the type of accent that you'd more likely find in the old black and white voice overs from the 1930s, strange compared to her days in Corination St as Les Battersby's annoying but on the side. I think she must have auditioned, was told it was for a doctors part and decided to put on the most ridiculous accent and she's been stuck with it since.

As for the doctor surgery, no wonder there's a doctor / GP crisis in this country if this show is anything to go by. They spend their day drinking tea and chatting rather than dealing with patients, of which there are very few ever in the surgery. They diagnose strangers on the street and seem to have endless numbers of walk in appointments.

It's terrible, it's like watching a slow motion car crash, you have to look and then wish you hadn't.

Doctors is a long-running (somehow) BBC series and is possibly worst they have to offer. I know I'm flogging a dead horse here, but any piece of television with terrible acting, amateur camera work, absurdly clichéd story lines, and a seriously low-budget feel deserves a good slating.

I understand it's only a bit of daytime TV, something to have on in the background as you're occupied with other menial tasks, but they could've at least put a bit of effort in! I think it's time to pull the plug. Am I being too harsh? Hmm, possibly, but it really is bad. I'm sure there are worse shows out there, and this is just a harmless (but terrible) one... but a bit of effort wouldn't be missed.

But then what do you expect from the BBC? The recent storyline of one if the nurses helping an illegal immigrant and even committing identity theft is emblematic. Even when caught by immigration people the person interviewing the illegal is not only a black female but is also incredibly sympathetic to her "plight" and is reduced to tears. Utter pc squit!

Great lunchtime entertainment

If only my local GP's surgery was like this, patients manage to get in, manage to see a Doctor and are greeted by a smiling receptionist. Its clear therefore that Doctors is a work of fiction, but its easy viewing. So often its thought provoking and engaging, many of the stories are believable and I'm sure based on real life happenings. It can be quite funny at times too its been a bit more serious for the last year. Doctor Carmichael makes the series for me. I almost wish this was on early evening, it would be suitable viewing for the 7 or 8 o'clock time slot. It's nice to watch a show on telly thats not full of bad language and unnecessary violence.

What do you put in your mouth?

Watching Doctors is very much akin to eating and/or putting things in your mouth. Sometimes enjoyable (a good meal equals a good episode), sometimes horrible (a bad taste/unplatable medicine), sometimes with a necessary purpose (you eat to prevent starvation) & sometimes it is pointless (you would never live on just chewing gum).

It is a SOAP - don't expect literary magic in the scripts or deep & meaningful, highly engaging storylines. Award winning acting (you cannot deny this, however you think it might be deserved or not), it's launched many careers & bolstered others, it enjoys good audience numbers & continues to bring happiness to many. Look elsewhere for high drama, precison comedy, heart wrenching emotional pathos & the like. Accept it for what it is, chewing gum for the eyes & as that, it can still be highly enjoyable,even if it isn't life changing or vital to human existence.

To repeat, it's a SOAP, not real life. Critics, don't be so serious, fans, don't be so blindly avid.

The series dealt brilliantly with Covid - ie the pandemic was there but not in your face all the time and so served to help me to escape the pandemic horror. I love the episode with Valerie at the Mad Hatter's tea party. Laughed out loud. Don't take it so seriously people!

Not so realistic

I don't find Doctors realistic at all, I don't know any real life doctors who only have their colleagues as friends In this programme you turn up for your appointment and the doctor greets you right away and takes you to the consulting room, that no way reflects real life at all.

Then they visit you a couple of times at home during the day, what a joke.

Michelle the nurse is supposed to be the head nurse yet she's like a little kid, and i've never seen anyone eat cream cakes as much as she does while working.

I still watch it though

I used to watch every day for some years, but recently, (September 2021) it has become boring and unwatchable

This would have been and eight star review apart from that awful woman Valerie Pitman.

There are some excellent stories, probably for about 70% of the time but there are also some awful stories all of them involving that stupid woman Valery Pitman who has no sensible work ethics I would fire her immediately if she worked for me, she's not even funny, just get rid of her.

But some absolutely excellent stories, but this woman spoils the series. I feel sorry for all the other excellent actors who are brought down by this woman .

Oh My god this is the worst medical drama ever and is Completely lame cheesy and crap

Doctors is a completely lame, cheesy, weak and crap medical drama. It comes up at the soap awards, but this is not a soap opera it's a medical drama. If I could give this 0/10 I would have because it doesn't deserve anything higher because it's just completely crap. Medical Dramas such as the excellent Casualty and Holby City, have great characters, excellent storylines, drama, tension and are 1000000 times better than this stupid crap. Doctors is the worst medical drama ever.

Underrated and understated

Doctors often flies under the radar for many television viewers, due to its early afternoon slot - I began watching the show when I was unemployed for a few weeks, and haven't stopped watching since. It deals with real life problems, and displays taboo topics that aren't talked abut enough. All of the regular cast members are excellent, and you can just tell they all get along and have fun on the show - that's another thing, fun. The show isn't afraid to have a bit of fun and make wacky, unexpected episodes. Take for example the 20th anniversary episode that was shot as a mockumentary, like GPs Behind Closed Doors. It was great because it was different! Lastly, every episode features guest stars from experienced actors to complete newbies, which I think is amazing. It showcases new actors and gives them a start, while also reminding us of well known actors! A strong 10/10 from me.
